Does anyone have that moment when you play pieces like this, where you just drift off into another state of mind? Like you go from thinking "wow this piece is beautiful" to "Huh I wonder what I'm gonna do for vacation in a few months" (just an example). It's just simply amazing how Debussy's music can make you drift off
This has always been my favourite composition of Debussys. Clair de Lune. Feel the Tenderness, it's softness, deep emotion, along with a passion. If you're a romantic you'll love this. I do. Debussy was more of the modern classic composers, that's probably why this is my only favourite of his.
Margot Blanchette. Yes, one could say it is romantic and extremely so. Yet for me it rises much higher than that. Even when I'm on my own, the last thing I want would be to pretend that I'm sharing it. I'm selfish, I want it all for myself. Because it's effect is a very personal one and no two people, however together they may be, will experience it in exactly the same way. And this is precisely why it is so unique. Literally!
This piece never fails to make me feel calm or happy. It's just honestly such a beautiful piece. To think I just simply liked this piece because I heard it from a video game. But this piece absolutely became one of my most favorite pieces of all time. It's so sweet and gentle, you can hear every note and how beautiful they sound. This is simply an amazing song. It never fails to make me feel better after a bad day or to calm me down at night and make me fall asleep.
"Can you hear my heartbeat? I can hear yours too, Shuichi. It's my favorite melody. It envelopes me in a warm, strong embrace... more than any other song can do."
Do not be put off by it! I have done piece with a key signature with a lot of flat and really all you have to do is look at the note and see if changes because of the key signature! It may be a hard piece but if you put motivation and hard work into anything you will get the result

Same. I'm leaving for uni in two weeks and I'll have no piano to practice on :( I'm telling myself that I am not a pianist anyway so that shouldn't affect me but still :(((
Your university will have practice rooms and probably a better instrument than at home. To console you, I recently spent 4 hours or so with this piece on a piano to which I make a special pilgrimage. To tell the truth, although I'd never seen it before, I played it rather better, albeit was unable to master that bit going into A near the end (where Jess, in another RUclips recording, the one with Lang Lang, plays a memorable wrong note on the way down). This is a very mannered interpretation, with no overriding aesthetic vision. Compare the quite celestial Jess. For example, he misses the B natural. He does not see that the phrase falls ambivalently and is both stressed and not stressed on both notes (shoulder weight does this). See Daniel Barenboim film on it, which is restricted to playing three times the great thematic leitmotif! Bierbaum is what Barenbaum is derived from, it means, 'Pear Tree' - so, Mr Orchard....! Barenboim is in non-alphabetic order but Liszt in alphabetic order. Think German baum, tree. Also read Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet - it's all about encouragement! Be of good cheer, the musician in you will take flight and you will play a lot and be great! And you'll never misspell those great names!
Get a good Midi-keyboard with a Kontakt 5 grand piano library (Vienna Grand e.g.) and then you can play with headphones plugged to your laptop. Sounds better than your shitty piano at home. Trust me ;)
Such a simple tune and yet.....and yet the lilt of that piano really pulls at the strings of the heart. It expresses the glory of the human spirit and its vulnerability at the same time. Am I right in saying that this music can only be by a Frenchman. It is the sort of music that one wishes to go on forever and ever. And yet, it has a beginning and an end as it should. , After the last tinkle fades away, one is left with oneself, immobile, unable to move. And listening to it again the following day, the elation is experienced all over again. And no matter how many times. So, thank you RUclips.

I always thought my classical guitar notes were confusing, but Piano is a whole other level. If you know the piece already, the sheets are just a general guidance obviously, but say Debussy was alive today and wrote a new Sonata, 24 pages of 2lines stuffed with information, is it possible a genuine genius pianist could play it as it was intended by the writer, from the get go ? Like read ahead of your hands playing and not missing any pause or octave change, react in time for the speed changes and forti ? Just curious because i have no idea, i know i couldn't, although i'm not good at any instrument really.
Experience. This is called sight reading (kinda). I can look then look ahead and play on my cello because I have experience playing cello. Yes the piano gets a little tough with this but it gets easy with experience and practice

+toothless toe not true
+toothless toe I've seen musicians that weren't technically amazing that played amazing music. Music is based off of the listener, whether it's technically proficient or really simple. All that matters is the emotional response of the opposing end of the musician.
+toothless toe you could supposedly be "the best", but if you can't move an audience, then you suck regardless of how long you've been playing.

@@Dylan_1344 Thank you for replying, to a 3 year old comment i made...i am still in awe of this music and ever so wondered if a musician can read notes and play them like someone just reading a book. I envy that musical talent...
Why the heck is everyone saying "Rip kaede" like im so confused rn lol
Good
1:54 I don't hear A at the end of the 1st measure whenever this is performed, but it's heard in every tutorial. what the deal? do performers skip it? i don't think it's that it's being played fast in that you don't hear it, i simply don't hear it at all. it goes dunnn da dunnnnnn in performances, but tutorials go dunnn da-dun dunnnnnn
Because they play it so well. The melody is accented( brought out) by the performer, the rest of the notes are smooth, soft, accompaniment
Never finish on Debussy, always finish on the Bach.
