    The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won't be blown, but it will go, "woah, that's cool."
    I'm also the producer for the Winding Road RUclips Channel:

    Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

    I can never get tired of hearing the BRZ’s engine. Despite it just being a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder, I don’t mind at all. In fact, I love it. I love the sound, the power, the 6-speed transmission, the interior. Would love to drive a stock BRZ one day, or one that’s lightly modified.

      @@brokentradgedy If I became interested in turbocharged cars, then I’d end up only caring about horsepower. I absolutely do not want to become that kind of car guy. Would rather find joy in actually driving the car and appreciating the car’s driving dynamics. With fast cars the main source of excitement is flooring it and feeling how fast the car accelerates. At that point you don’t care about the driving aspect anymore because the power makes up most of the fun.

    • @TheBigNate505
      @TheBigNate505 3 года назад +8

      @@perrry_ho I was just thinking about this recently. Going fast in a straight line, while incredibly fun and exciting, wears off over time. However, appreciating the dynamics, looks, and functionality of a car has the potential to keep the driver engaged for much longer with satisfaction that doesn't rely on increasing horsepower every month.

      Totally agree on the power (ex FR-S owner), but even with my less that great driving skills, I used to the torque dip. If they could tune that out (instead of after market fixes), would be perfect out the box. The seats were awesome and the steering/handling was so good.

    • @Genevagirls-h2x
      @Genevagirls-h2x 6 лет назад +8

      The question to ask people whining for more is, would you pay more for a more powerful option? I bet the answer is no. The car was meant as a replacement to the ae86, an affordable rear-wheel drive coupe. I do not think they meant for this to be the new supra or mr2.

    • @michaelw2263
      @michaelw2263 6 лет назад +2

      Totally agree. It really is fine the way it is. Adding something as simple as headers and a tune helps quite a bit more (it's what I did). But everyone loves to play the number game. Not enjoy how it drives or feels, sadly. :/

    • @willhart1523
      @willhart1523 6 лет назад

      Frs owner of 2 years. I have an intake and exhaust (soon to get headers and a tune) but I'm begging for more power. Car handles well but it does need more. I knew it was underpowered when I bought it, and since it was first ever manual car I didnt mind it at first. I get the aftermarket support for it but I'm sure Subaru could find a way to gain 20hp and kill the torque dip..

    I bought my 2016 FRS 3 years ago, and I've loved every single day with it. This is definitely one of the most fun and most satisfying cars to drive. If you want more power, buy another car or slap a turbo on. I enjoy it stock, and have no issues with the power. This car is not about straight line, it's built for precision. I see mustang and genesis owners envy my car.

    I so agree with your tire discussion on these cars. I’ve put just at 80k mikes on my FRS and have been through A LOT of tires. I have found that it’s pretty easy to over tire the car which does neuter it unless you add more power or are doing track days. I’ve had the most fun on the stock tires or some high quality all season sport tires. Right now I’m running those 595 Rr R (how many R’s?) tires in the stock size; while they are maybe a little too grippy, as they have accrued a few miles and heat cycles they seem to be a pretty nice compromise.

      Used to have an s2k. They're lighter then these. And pretty quick. Faster then stock wrx. The BRZ would need about 270-280 crank hp to be as fast. And a smooth consistant power band like the s2k above 6k rpms. Honda did it 18 years ago. I'm sure subaru can get it in that range N/a

They’re perfect. Of course more power is always nice, but honestly, if these cars had a true 250HP to the wheels they would be unbeatable. If I were to buy this type of car I’d just get an older model. Not the first release, but the second year and put a turbo. Honestly, that’s all it’s missing. My take on it is that if Subaru or Toyota does it, then the sales on the wrx sti is going to plummet. Imagine a turbo 300hp BRZ. Rear wheel drive. That would get sales from any age group, mostly from the 18-25 group.

    I mean who gives a 20ft+ torque hole, just above cruising revs, to a car with very little torque already!

  • @Jia1337
    @Jia1337 6 лет назад +8

    I'm guessing it's not extremely popular because it really isn't significant. The BRZ/FRS/86 was an interesting car back then, but right now it's lacking interest. I wish Toyota would blow us away by announcing a redesign of the car with a V6 or a 2.5T engine making at least 300bhp/310 torque. That isn't even a lot for a sports car, but I strongly believe it will at least have people talking about it again!

    • @K03sport
      @K03sport 6 лет назад +3

      ... You/we probably won't see much development on the 86/brz as Toyota has announced plans for a 4cyl (turbo) 5th gen supra; which is still 2-3 years away, but w/that announcement, this chassis/model was doomed to languish w/minimal development, just like what Nissan did on the 370z. We might be lucky to see a new (not mid-cycle refresh) 86/brz in 2-3 years (8 yr cycle) but that is only if it is given a chance to have a 2nd gen. Even the greatest cars are killed by poor sales.

    4:05No.. they wouldn't. Just turbo it. In fact, the set-up already exists. The reason it doesn't come turbo'd is because it would cannibalize WRX sales. Plain and simple. Quit trying to act like you know exactly what it would take to give it more power like everyone watching this is just stupid or mechanically challenged. The fact that ppl are already getting good numbers from turbo/supercharger set-ups proves that it can be done with ease. Will the price go up? Well of course. But not to where it would make it unattainable. I like this car. Have no problem with how it comes from factory. Ppl just have to go into purchasing knowing it comes as a BALANCED package. Just enough for fun in the twisties and to get to work and back. If you want more power, quit whining and just do it or pay to get it done.
