greetings from japan. i've read an interview of the chief engineer of these two cars, he is an engineer from toyota. he said that the only functional difference between the two is the stiffness of their frontal springs. the 86/fr-s has softer springs while the brz has stiffer springs. their rear springs are the same. imo, the 86/fr-s's aim is to replicate the handling & drifting of old toyota corolla coupe (ae-86) from the mid 80's. that's why it comes with softer frontal springs, which cause the rear end of the car to lift slightly under deceleration so the car easily drifts. the aim of the brz is different from the 86, subaru wants it to be a "proper" (non-drifting) gt/sports car, that's why it comes with stiffer springs, imo. the 86 in japan comes with prius tyres, but the brz comes with michellen sports tyres.

They're so alike but for some reason I lean towards liking the FRS better. I think it might just be the color and style of it. The BRZ looks to rally, sporty like, the FRS looks more chill and evil.
codfan122 Honestly, it's exactly the same as the FR-S. Like the FR-S, if you take all the decals and swap them with the Toyota, nobody would be able to tell the difference.
FatalFist frs doesnt have front fog lights but i kinda stuffed up what i was trying to say. toyota has the best of both and i mean with body and gadgets and shit
SuperBlaze No: Most european Toyota GT86 have the nice interieur, and on the other Hand the most BRZ here got the cheap interieur - like its switched in Europe
since i have the limited edition BRZ you won't find that on the FRS because i have the limited edition, but because of the limited edition BRZ it includes some things the FRS doesn't. I own the limited edition BRZ guys. Is what i basically got from this video lol
Black Viper lol this car is a toyota wether you rebadge with another scien sion or whatever. Its a tribute to the original 86 like in the movie Initial D.
I've owned both the BR-Z and the FR-S. I had the FR-S first before it was totaled only for me to end up buying the BR-Z limited 6 months after. Even though there weren't a whole lot of differences between the two, I personally do believe that the BR-Z handles slightly better and has a much better construction to it then the FR-S. If any of you guys were planning on either car, i suggest the BR-Z.
+TheNickGTV considering it rates incredibly well with critics and has won car of the year twice (in Australia at least) I'd say it wouldnt be hard to justify the purchase.
Also, all the features that are in the Limited Brz can be found in a Scion Frs 10 series. The scion front and rear badge lights up. The top of the rear bumper also has Scion written on it. And for those who are still choosing between the 2, I found out that the Subaru is about $35-$50 cheaper to insure.

Subaru has pedigree and a better suspension, materials and styling. Scion has...? How much will each be worth in five years? Scion always brings to mind "Penny wise, pound foolish" Don't waste your $$ on a sh[t marque
Practically the same car, same engine, same shell. just some bits different and price tag with different manufacture badge. you could probably convert a FR-S to an BRZ. but that would just be a waste of time! and money you could be spending to buy car parts.... because this car is basically made to be tuned. has more aftermarket parts even before Toyota can stock OEM parts. And personally i like the BRZ front bumper then the GT86/FR-S. you probably can switch them around and take the badge off the bumper and stick a Toyota/Scion they are all the same shape looking at it.
i think you would be wrong to say that; but i could be mistaken. i have been told that the frs and the ft86 are partially multi port injected. meaning the back side of the valves are exposed to fuel every once in a while. this prevents the need for top engine cleanings every 70,xxx miles like the brz has to have.(which isnt cheap). you need a top engine clean because the oil distributed into the intake from the pcv valve burns and cokes on the back of the valves and affects vehicle performance. but i could be dead wrong just thought i should throw that out there for everyone.
A.J. Jordan They both have the same fuel delivery systems. They both use port injection AND direct injection. It's all in the design of the intake, cylinder heads, piston head,.. etc... It uses 3 different modes for fuel delivery.
I own the 2013 BRZ Limited, and researched both heavily, and actually looked at all the models before I chose. BRZ all the way!!!! Love the nav, the sat radio, and the auto aiming headlights. Plus the Scion 's interior is urgly,
They must do things differently in the US. All BRZs in Australia from what I've seen come standard with the dual zone climate control. Source: Worked at Subaru
a few other minor differences BRZ has courtesy lamps in the doors. The FRS has a spot for them, and a red reflector, but there is no light and none of the components of the mount for a light (in other words it's not just missing the light bulb - the whole harness is missing) DRL's on the FRS are up in the headlight where they're down with the fog lights on the brz. Turn signals on the FRS are where the fog lights are on the BRZ. Turn signals on the BRZ are up with the headlights.
am i the only one that wants a fr-s but with the brz features? climate control, push button start.. etc. im actually looking for a new vehicle and i want a frs but i also want those few minor brz features....
Zepphyrr In europe there is no scion here its Toyota nd they have the nice features.... i do think in the USA is a scion version with all the good stuff as well
Donnima9000 in usa i believe the brz limited only gets the fancy features and ive been reading apparently you dont even get everything when you compare a fully loaded Subaru brz limited to a fully loaded Japanese toyota 86. ive been reading that there are a few minor interior differences such as cheaper materials in the usa cars and some things dont have the red stitching. im actually in canada and here you can get a Subaru brz sport tech (same thing as the limited) with all of the features or a scion frs where you cant even get auto climate controls or push button start because its not even an option. there are a few limited edition versions of the scion like the frs monogram or realease series where it does come fully loaded with everything but after that you either get a stripped down frs or if you want the features a Subaru brz. i might be getting a subaru brz but i would rather have the scion badges on it.... i would actually prefer to have the toyota badges on but here there is no toyota version...
Donnima9000 The 86 is the GT-86/FT-86 (depending on market) I wanna get a Scion FR-S and Toyota badge swap it lol. Zepphyrr I don't care too much for all that fancy stuff, I want this car for modding anyway. Go for the BRZ, but i do believe that the FR-S is a little sportier stock when vs the BRZ stock. I want a FR-S and for my Subie, a WRX STI.
Yabadabado0o0o I totally agree with that statement. It's so much nicer when you put in a turbo as far as the fangs and LFA like front grill space with intercoolers in. I wouldn't change that mean look for all the fancy that I can put in myself with better aftermarket parts anyway.
They look exactly the same because Toyota & Subaru came together and made the car as well as there own version, the reason we have a scion version is because Americans don't think toyota can make good sport cars so they put the scion sticker on it and The dumb American's that don't know a thing about car's just look at it and go ooh nice sports car and cheap i'll buy it not knowing its made by toyota and believe its a high end fancy sports car for cheap. Scion = Toyota Sorry for any Spelling errors.
I don't know about Subaru but the FRS has the pedal dance and is based one the GT86 so the exhaust is 86mm as well as the bore and stroke on the engine. The 86 logo on the sides have pistons on the sides showing the boxer engine layout and the lines in the 86 show tires sliding out
+PuppetMaster Nah, I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to look like a typical american trying to regain popularity within the workplace in the Scion, or a snapback wearing douchebag in the Subaru. The GT-86 even in the least bit promotes maturity, much like driving some of the oldest names in Toyota history like Celica, Supra, and MR2. Plus, you have to think about people who know nothing about cars, and what they'll think about the car once their eyes are drawn towards the badge. Would you want them to look at it and say "oh... i didn't know Toyota was making a fast car again" or think about the various stereotypes that I could list off for you that are synonymous with rice burners, children, and pearl harbor? There's more to cars than growing a goatee, shaving your head and wearing a beanie, making the Mexican repair shop remove your catalytic converter on your Civic, and importing parts on ebay. It's called having respect to drive a Toyota.
+Cameron Lichtenberger they're all the same car, you would have to be a moron to have more respect for someone for driving badge a over badge b and an even bigger moron to judge someone for what car they drive.
+VonHousin sorry for that. but if gt86 is a representative name to toyota they dont should put a fucking boxer engine in it. they are capable to do a new 4AGE for the new days. but they prefer "hey subaru make the engine to our car". so the gt 86 is the same prostitue whit different pantys... Pd: i choose the 86 becasue is more tail happy...than the brz because dont have the same spring ratio.
Steve Nguyen ***** Toyota owns about 30% of shares with subaru and also Toyota is one of the biggest producers of parts for other manufactures (Subaru, BMW, Chevy, Ford and others) by the way there is going to be a vehicle bmw-toyota coalition,... sport car.....
Lemmiwinks9619 it was a joint development. one company designed this portion another designed that aspect and another designed another part. thats why all 3 have their own version they created it together in a partnership
Well I from what I see, the price of R32 GT-R's are usually like 20k - 30k, isn't that in the same price range as the BRZ? And if the point of the BRZ is fun, not lap times, why would you even say to buy an R32 over a BRZ...
Thats understandable, but (I might be a bit bias cause I have an 86) I would rather have a brand new car than a faster car thats older and probably less reliable aswell.
FRS front bumper is better. But BRZ's got better everything else. Standard equipment, interior treatment (Scion's faux carbon dash looks tacky), and a better badge. Scion sucks, Toyota's Pontiac! XD..
Prince Mowe Yeah, you know I gotta disagree!.. BRZ's bumper is subtle. Too subtle! Plus it looks a bit more generic, a bit too safe and understated for a flashy sports machine. I must say though, the less aggressive face does fit better with the more mundane styling of other subies. :)
i dont fucking get the point of making THREE of these ! the GT86, FRS, & BRZ are basically the same car & not even that great performance wise. & Why would toyota make the same version under the scion name & toyota name ??
Because Scion is the "sporty" brand in the U.S. for Toyota., Subaru designed the engine, chassis, and transmission. Toyota concentrated on the body and the interior. The BRZ is sold worldwide, FR-S in Northern America, and the GT86 in Asia. Scion is Toyota, both are the same exact company, it's no different then Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus, and Nissan/Infiniti. Subaru is owned by the Fuji Heavy Industries company, Toyota owns around 15% of the company, so the collaboration to make the vehicle was an easy choice. Also Toyota isn't exactly a big company in the "racing" aspect of cars anymore, so using Scion in the U.S. helps with sales, and Subaru already has a big name in the race world so it boosts sales by branding under those two names.
No, Lexus and Scion are both Toyota. Toyota owns about 16.5% of Fuji Heavy Industries. Subaru is the automobile manufacturing division of Fuji Heavy Industries. Toyota doesn't own the majority of FHI, but does hold the largest share I believe.
NEXT Read my previous comment about why they're like that, both cars are technically the same with minor cosmetic and some performance specific options. As it is FHI owns Subaru, Toyota owns the largest share of FHI so the collaboration worked out for both Subaru and Toyota in financial gain.
Even tho the vid is very simple and those bugs are annoying appreciation comes undeniable! Thanks for sharing! If the engines are identical i dont think i need to see anymore reviews lol.
I know this upload is about 5 1/2 years old at this point but I thought I'd comment anyway. I just test drove a FR-S this past weekend and the interior kind of turned me off a bit. I really like the Subaru BRZ interior based off this video though.. Looks like I'm going to have to do more research!
FRS is slightly faster and has a more aggressive suspension. BRZ has all the bells and whistles but is a little slower. That's all you really need to know.
Well that's funny.. Since they both got the exact same power train and programming. They are both exactly the same when it comes to speed, hp, torque,.. Also, the scion has a softer suspension. The Subaru has the stiffer suspension mostly because of Subaru's Rally racing background.. So... Maybe you should know what you're talking about before you tell others all they "really need to know"
Gabriel Ulloa Sorry to break it to you, but you're completely wrong and I don't know where you heard that stuff. The FRS is faster because it is a little lighter because it isn't weighed down with the extra options that the BRZ has. Scion has a more aggressive suspension to induce more oversteer where the BRZ is more mild, Subaru's rally background has nothing to do with anything, this isn't a car with any sort of rally heritage other than the Subaru name. I'm not going to get into a drawn out internet argument with you, but try watching more videos and doing more reading about these cars before you comment. Not to mention I went to a Subaru dealership recently and talked to the salesman and checked out the car myself. Never said the BRZ is a bad car, it is what it is and I wouldn't mind owning one myself.
johnkilo Sorry to break it to you, but a few slightly different knobs are going to make the FRS lighter to the point where you'd see any performance advantages. They're the same car. It's a drivers race between the two.
Badge placement on the rear of the brz is better. Front bumper of the frs is better. (all considering the frs can get black headlamp bezels along with foglights. Aftermarket led running lights are an EASY install.)
I chose to buy the FR-S of these two and I have reasons why. I bought this because I love the Toyota AE86. The FR-S is the American version of the GT86 which has more direct ties to the AE86 than the Subie. As much as I love Subaru, I wanted the Toyota. Plus, why spend the extra 2k when I could buy a nice intake and exhaust? I swapped the Scion badges to Toyota badges, too. I have noticed, however, that the stock exhaust on my FR-S says Subaru. My engine says Subaru along with many other things. Not hating on Subaru in any way at all. Currently building up a WRX. But those are the honest reasons I chose the Toyota over the Subie.
I'm a mustang freak. 2003 Ford mustang and let's just say it's fixed up. But both of these rides are nice....if I had to pick,it would be hard. But I'm liking the Frs
Good video. I prefer the front bumper on the FR-S, but otherwise seems like the BRZ has better features, mainly the lights. Makes me question my choice in my future toy.
Without having to watch the 9minutes here are the differences: * Badge * More badges * Minor suspension tuning (Subaru suspension tuning is ever so slightly harder, some say more aggressive, but without lowering it's just harder, and thus slower which means actually less aggressive just less comfortable) * Price * Badges * Few Decorative (or mostly) items (Subaru has slight decorative differences, and different rear spoiler option. Being that small change is mostly decorative) * Price Subaru being cheaper than Scion (Toyota) branded.
I would have been happy to test a BR-Z but they are hard to find. At least the sticker on them is higher than an FR-S because the interiors are better appointed. I got an FR-S because I drove one and loved it and got a dynamite price.
You missed a couple of differences: The interior rear view mirrors are different The cushion around the speakers on the door panels have red stitching on the FRS and no stitching at all on the BRZ Limited, same exact thing happens with the cushion on the sides of the silver pillars around the AC column
Good no nonsense vid, don't forget the 10 series FRS has all the BRZ limited options plus TRD exhaust, and some fun (although not necessary) extras, less the heated seats. I also can not feel the difference under normal driving conditions. The current/ upcoming FRS limited edition is a true re-badged loaded GT86. Can't wait for Subaru's promised 300bhp BRZ. The Scion badge version should have never been. But I bought it anyway. Silly Toyota. Praise to Subaru for making this all possible.
Would be nice to have a mixture of both. I like the gauges and carbon fiber esque dash on the FRS, but I like all the switches and knobs with the push button start location and partial leather seats on the BRZ. It's hard to choose one or the other, and really it's all down to styling since the cars drive the same and (theoretically) accept the same modifications and such too :P
Oh man, he totally forgot one is black and the other one is blue, so obvious!
***** Dr. Sheldon Cooper is that you?
Also, the license plates aren't optional and he didn't mention that, so I think this logic is flawed...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA k
It really comes down to which front bumper you like better.
Yea you right I like the frs bumper so that is why I chose it
Yea i would prefer the frs bumper with the brz headlights. But of course you would have to do that yourself..Nice vid thanks
Scions front bumper looks better
ruskeee I like the FRS and 86 better
Im Gonna buy a BRZ and get me a Rocket Bunny V2 bumper

I'm pretty sure the prius is better

Basically what you're saying it's the same car they just changed the badges on it and market them as two separate cars but it's the same car
@@godofdestructiondiecast6756 exactly
Like Scion and Toyota
Thats cuz Toyota owns Scion and has 16.6% of subaru.

Appreciate it. I was wondering why three different companies (well technically two at the time) made three variations of the same car.
@@Iridiumcosmos im also wondering why the brz, which is supposed to be the car more fit to race, looks less sportier in the front bumper than the 86
cheers matey
@UCice1jzMexYIJzGPEIFmcnQ i love you
I like the white car more than the gold car.

+Jesse Peng fo real.. this video is pretty biased.

+Jesse Peng 0:52 2:23 6:28 6:55 7:20 Lol nice limited edition :P

The main different is that he has the LIMITED EDITION.

fuel injectors firing?
Annoying
They're so alike but for some reason I lean towards liking the FRS better. I think it might just be the color and style of it. The BRZ looks to rally, sporty like, the FRS looks more chill and evil.
toyota version in my opinion is better it has all the leather inside from the brz and air system but has very similar body to the fr-s

yeah it was and he sold it lol
+Jaafar Farhan Haha I got that one.
Is it just me or does the FRS look a lot more aggressive than the BRZ?
frs does look more aggressive m8 lol
It's because the FRS is scowling and the BRZ is smiling.
I prefer the brz over the frs. I don't like the front of the frs. Also I think the interior of the brz is better in the limited.
I agree
MotoSteve just becuz of the front bumper
I came here for video of the bugs making all the noise.

they look pretty same
i get confused sometimes
I knew I wasn't tripping out, I kept sieng those scions that look like brzs and am like wait wtf?! I thought it was Subaru not scion.
what about the Toyota 86?
the Toyota GT86 is for Europe and Japan and is therefore right hand drive. Scion FRS is pretty much the exact same as the GT86, but the FRS is left hand drive. however you can get a left hand drive GT86, but you have to ship them over from Europe, which can be costly.
+Joshua Nelson I live in america and I've seen the gt86 around and left hand drive
Dude I know when I've seen a gt86 and when its got a Toyota symbol and has the 86 symbol I'm pretty sure its not a frs
It's basically the BRZ limited but a lot cheaper.
+Paws Fox Some people have them in the US and they aren't imported. They use them for drag racing and stuff.
Probably going to just get an FR-S... cause it's cheaper and I don't really need all the fancy things that the BRZ has...
Subaru has pedigree and a better suspension, materials and styling. Scion has...? How much will each be worth in five years? Scion always brings to mind "Penny wise, pound foolish" Don't waste your $$ on a sh[t marque
Noah E Unless you live in Australia. We have GTS and GT model for the toyota 86 (FR-S).
They're the same car.
But they are not exactly the same. That's where your statement falls.
"All the differences between the FR-S, BRZ, & BRZ Limited" there you go.
OK WE GET IT!!! YOURS IS THE LIMITED EDITION!! AND ALL THOSE FEATURES COME IN THE FR-S TOO. BOTH PRETTY NEAT FOR YOUNG ADULT.
Id take the BRZ any day, mainly because I refuse to buy anything with the Scion name on it. Plus, I think the BRZ is slightly nicer than the FRS.
i think you would be wrong to say that; but i could be mistaken. i have been told that the frs and the ft86 are partially multi port injected. meaning the back side of the valves are exposed to fuel every once in a while. this prevents the need for top engine cleanings every 70,xxx miles like the brz has to have.(which isnt cheap). you need a top engine clean because the oil distributed into the intake from the pcv valve burns and cokes on the back of the valves and affects vehicle performance. but i could be dead wrong just thought i should throw that out there for everyone.
It's hard to fault the name FR-S.. simply because it stands for "Front-Engine, Rear Wheel Drive - Sports Car".
A.J. Jordan
They both have the same fuel delivery systems. They both use port injection AND direct injection. It's all in the design of the intake, cylinder heads, piston head,.. etc... It uses 3 different modes for fuel delivery.
same shit

I own the 2013 BRZ Limited, and researched both heavily, and actually looked at all the models before I chose. BRZ all the way!!!! Love the nav, the sat radio, and the auto aiming headlights. Plus the Scion 's interior is urgly,
They must do things differently in the US. All BRZs in Australia from what I've seen come standard with the dual zone climate control.
Source: Worked at Subaru
brz looks better in my opinion
The difference between the 2G Talon and the 2G Eclipse.
Am I the only person who noticed that is not a 2015 Mustang lol!
Great vid, got lots of laughs
a few other minor differences
BRZ has courtesy lamps in the doors. The FRS has a spot for them, and a red reflector, but there is no light and none of the components of the mount for a light (in other words it's not just missing the light bulb - the whole harness is missing)
DRL's on the FRS are up in the headlight where they're down with the fog lights on the brz.
Zepphyrr In europe there is no scion here its Toyota nd they have the nice features.... i do think in the USA is a scion version with all the good stuff as well
Donnima9000 in usa i believe the brz limited only gets the fancy features and ive been reading apparently you dont even get everything when you compare a fully loaded Subaru brz limited to a fully loaded Japanese toyota 86. ive been reading that there are a few minor interior differences such as cheaper materials in the usa cars and some things dont have the red stitching.
im actually in canada and here you can get a Subaru brz sport tech (same thing as the limited) with all of the features or a scion frs where you cant even get auto climate controls or push button start because its not even an option. there are a few limited edition versions of the scion like the frs monogram or realease series where it does come fully loaded with everything but after that you either get a stripped down frs or if you want the features a Subaru brz.
i might be getting a subaru brz but i would rather have the scion badges on it.... i would actually prefer to have the toyota badges on but here there is no toyota version...
we donta have the toyota 86... we have the Toyota GT86 .... its fully loaded : all features available in any country
Donnima9000 well... apparently not any country. lol.
Would any of these be a good first car? If so, which one would be better?
all personal opinion mane
Sohaib Qasim My choice would be the now Toyota GT86, since I've never had a problem with their cars and I think they are very reliable.
Victoria scion is made by Toyota......
Gamestyle01 its called the toyota 86 now even in the U.S since scion stopped making cars
They are both the same car, choose whichever is cheaper if the individual cars you are looking at are otherwise nearly identical
BRZ>GT86>FRS.
Sorry the FRS headlights look so damn cheap, yuck.
hehe feel sorry for the FRS.
over here in australia its goes like this
86GTS>BRZ>86GT>FRS
It's called aftermarket headlights. And the scion's front bumper looks way better and more aggressive than the BRZ so it kinda makes up for it.
Yabadabado0o0o I totally agree with that statement. It's so much nicer when you put in a turbo as far as the fangs and LFA like front grill space with intercoolers in. I wouldn't change that mean look for all the fancy that I can put in myself with better aftermarket parts anyway.
Thanks for the comparison, it was hard to tell which was which😂
The tiny storage cubby under the control panel is for your dub sack, bowls/pipes/blunts.
Copy / paste, and add a Scion badge.
ManWhoLovesWomen FRS is lighter and gets more mileage
can anyone tell me why they almost look the same? how did this be allowed to happen? Doesn't this create some sort of legal issues?
They look exactly the same because Toyota & Subaru came together and made the car as well as there own version, the reason we have a scion version is because Americans don't think toyota can make good sport cars so they put the scion sticker on it and The dumb American's that don't know a thing about car's just look at it and go ooh nice sports car and cheap i'll buy it not knowing its made by toyota and believe its a high end fancy sports car for cheap.
Scion = Toyota
Sorry for any Spelling errors.
Does anyone know if a rocket bunny v2 would fit onto a brz or 86? Especially the bumper?
I think the gt86 is illegal for no reason I'm not sure
LuisWRXSTi I think the gt86 is a japan exclusive like the old ae86 we got a slower corolla
JDM r1c3ing Nah they are in new zealand and other countrys
What do you guys think about a RX8?
sorry got to say no to the RX-8. if your going Wankle go for a RX-7.
+1 for FRS front bumper
+1 For BRZ headlamps
+1 for TRD exhaust
+1 for Subaru head unit
+1 for FRS Tach
I don't know about Subaru but the FRS has the pedal dance and is based one the GT86 so the exhaust is 86mm as well as the bore and stroke on the engine. The 86 logo on the sides have pistons on the sides showing the boxer engine layout and the lines in the 86 show tires sliding out
I'd take the Toyota GT-86 any day
+PuppetMaster Nah, I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to look like a typical american trying to regain popularity within the workplace in the Scion, or a snapback wearing douchebag in the Subaru.
We don't have Scion in Australia boys
Ew
subaru shouldnt have ally with toyota. they always claimed credits to themselvxes
Toyota owns part of Subaru
Texasman101392 Toyota owns PART of subaru.. small percentage.
My question is to why the scion version even exist? How did scion acquire this car...
Have you been to a toyota dealership lately? Whats the "sportiest" car youll see?
dasspr yes, i understand. but why do subaru and scion/toyota sell the same car. Its not like they are the same company.
Lemmiwinks9619 it was a joint development. one company designed this portion another designed that aspect and another designed another part. thats why all 3 have their own version they created it together in a partnership
subaru did just about the entire drivetrain scion did the looks through 5 axis designs.
Guts "all 3" no it's just toyota/subaru. Scion is toyota.
The reason Toyota put the Scion emblem on the FR-S is because of the Toyota FT-1. Look it up, its a pretty cool car
From the video it also appears the side marker on the BRZ looks clear vs orange on the FRS. you can catch a glimpse at 1:07
Frs > brz
Why does his car have 3 pedals? My car only has two. What is the 3rd one for?
it's a manual.
It's a clutch.
You push the far left pedal and your car is cloaked. It's great for speed traps, but it uses twice the gas
Thanks
+Pat John Smart ass XD
Or you could by a nissan r32 gtr for half the price and it will go twice as fast
half price?
lol sweet joke
Tranz its true if you compared pricing with BRZ
Well I from what I see, the price of R32 GT-R's are usually like 20k - 30k, isn't that in the same price range as the BRZ? And if the point of the BRZ is fun, not lap times, why would you even say to buy an R32 over a BRZ...
Tranz nope cause r32 have gone way down in price. its literally half up here. maybe down there its still around 20-30
Thats understandable, but (I might be a bit bias cause I have an 86) I would rather have a brand new car than a faster car thats older and probably less reliable aswell.
Buying a 2014 sport tech tomorrow. Words can't describe excitement
Not sure which front bumper I like better. But I'd want a BRZ over the FRS, Limited of course.
FRS front bumper is better. But BRZ's got better everything else. Standard equipment, interior treatment (Scion's faux carbon dash looks tacky), and a better badge. Scion sucks, Toyota's Pontiac! XD..
bliglum i would say the brz has the better bumper. the frs bumper is too fast and furious for my taste. a bit tacky. the brz is nice and subtle.
Subaru looks better
Yeah, somehow the BRZ looks better than the Scion version version.
Why do those two cars and the Toyota gt86 look the fucking same
they are the same. Toyota, Scion, and Subaru made a deal and they built this car together. Each brand made minor modifications to the car though.
oh ok i thought they were just copying each other lol thanks
ASAPDOG kind of like GMC chevy and Cadillac sometimes make similar cars, like the suvs the make
i dont fucking get the point of making THREE of these ! the GT86, FRS, & BRZ are basically the same car & not even that great performance wise.
Toyota bought Subaru, and scion was created by Toyota
No, Lexus and Scion are both Toyota. Toyota owns about 16.5% of Fuji Heavy Industries. Subaru is the automobile manufacturing division of Fuji Heavy Industries. Toyota doesn't own the majority of FHI, but does hold the largest share I believe.
NEXT Read my previous comment about why they're like that, both cars are technically the same with minor cosmetic and some performance specific options. As it is FHI owns Subaru, Toyota owns the largest share of FHI so the collaboration worked out for both Subaru and Toyota in financial gain.
Jaquan Webb You obviously don't know much about cars if you say the FRS/BRZ/GT86 isn't a great entry level performance car.
Even tho the vid is very simple and those bugs are annoying appreciation comes undeniable! Thanks for sharing! If the engines are identical i dont think i need to see anymore reviews lol.
look like a proud kid got a cookie when he saying limited
frs= street racing brz= rally :)
Not really.... They're both street cars. You wouldn't see a BRZ in rally... lmao just because it's a Subaru doesn't mean it's a rally car.
no its a rally car subarus rally school has a vid on them using them for rally
mike light Link the vid, if thats true thats kind of crazy aha
idk I have to find it again was like last year when I saw it lol but when I find it ill link it
The brz and frs are meant for track and turns that's why they have 200 hp
lol BRZ has a happy face and the FRS has a sad face
why the hell would they make 2 same cars??makes no sence
there 3 actually
+Robin Antonio Toyota gt86?
+Shakir Newton no it's the Hyundai Genesis coupe
+The _Future its a prius
i see scion as toyota and subaru toy brand
I know this upload is about 5 1/2 years old at this point but I thought I'd comment anyway. I just test drove a FR-S this past weekend and the interior kind of turned me off a bit. I really like the Subaru BRZ interior based off this video though.. Looks like I'm going to have to do more research!
Scion FRS 10 series takes the cake every damn time.
Why these cars, when you can get a perfect, used Honda S2000 for thousands less???
well fuck the scion but I would gladly own a rear wheel drive subaru considered the rarirty
Because the s2000 is an ugly ass car?
Because these cars would be brand new. Not used. Duh.
***** How the frikkin hell, is the S2000 an ugly car?
nigmosh65
It reminds me of the Miata.
The cars are exactly the same except for luxury items and bumpers. Johnkilo is ignorant as fuck.
Wrong!!!!
Please invest in a mic i cant hear a word you're saying
He had one, but his head was moving away from it every time he looked to his left
You must be deaf if you can't hear a thing... that's exaggerated
Without having to watch the 9minutes here are the differences:
* Badge
* More badges
* Minor suspension tuning (Subaru suspension tuning is ever so slightly harder, some say more aggressive, but without lowering it's just harder, and thus slower which means actually less aggressive just less comfortable)
* Price
* Badges
* Few Decorative (or mostly) items (Subaru has slight decorative differences, and different rear spoiler option. Being that small change is mostly decorative)
* Price
Subaru being cheaper than Scion (Toyota) branded.
I would think that the boxer engine design would be very suitable to put in a minivan so there's more space in the cabin
Did you know the Scion FR-S will become the Toyota 86 for 2017?
The easiest way is to look at the badge :P
Here in South Africa the GT86 (FR-S) also comes in the high version (premium/limited) so you can also get all those fun things!
Scion FR-S is a really great car at a really cheap price ! I like that .
I would have been happy to test a BR-Z but they are hard to find. At least the sticker on them is higher than an FR-S because the interiors are better appointed. I got an FR-S because I drove one and loved it and got a dynamite price.
You missed a couple of differences:
The interior rear view mirrors are different
The cushion around the speakers on the door panels have red stitching on the FRS and no stitching at all on the BRZ Limited, same exact thing happens with the cushion on the sides of the silver pillars around the AC column
I always find it weird how cars are like that. The Z4 & Supra 350z & G35 Dodge Avenger & Sebring so many people fall for the same cars lol
video is almost 10 years old.... but the pre-own market says other wise :( i still want one sooo bad
Do a video about the difference of a Prius and a Multipla
Would be nice to have a mixture of both. I like the gauges and carbon fiber esque dash on the FRS, but I like all the switches and knobs with the push button start location and partial leather seats on the BRZ. It's hard to choose one or the other, and really it's all down to styling since the cars drive the same and (theoretically) accept the same modifications and such too :P
