@@creepersaurusrexx5929 that’s awesome! I’m glad this film found its audience and you’re part of that! I’m honestly kinda bummed it’s not my thing, but I’ll certainly be giving apart 2 a chance
I literally just came back from watching the movie and this video was exactly what i needed! I loved some of the observations you made and i really feel like some of my opinions were shared[ like her being ostracized and considered to be a bad person early on in the film, solely because her skin is green, got lost on me. As well as the animal activist thingy]. I will say the only Oz related thing I've seen besides this was THE WIZ [ only started getting into musicals recently ] so my comment might not mean much but this video made me wanna go watch the original Wizard of Oz just to really get your perspective. I might also share your bias opinion [based on THE WIZ] so i see where understanding her [elphaba's] view can be difficult but i still think the movie did an amazing job at setting up the story and i cannot wait to see how she ended up becoming The Wicked Witch of The West. honestly TLDR... great video! *just to clarify i did like the movie overall. solid 8/10*
So the main issue with your review... is that every gripe you have is from the book/musical plot. So there's not much the moviemakers could do on that front. Also Feiyro and Boq tie in to part 2 way more and part 2 is the overlap with Wizard of Oz Glad you appreciated how well made the musical is though
@@jonathanfitzharris4196 fair enough. But like I said, I’ve never seen the Broadway production or read the book, so I’m taking this at face value with both those other sources removed. Maybe I’d feel differently if I hadn’t gone in blind, but who’s to say. But yeah the production quality was excellent in my opinion. Just didn’t jive with the story that much
@jonathonfitzharris4196 yeah a buddy of mine told me they made the film a little lighter because there’s some messed up stuff in the book (like how the Wicked Witch’s parents “relationship” ACTUALLY was)
My boyfriend and I also did not like Wicked at all... Too long, too contrived and we couldn't understand what Elphaba actually wanted. We also didn't understand what the point or message of the movie was. And you're right, we were excited about Barbie but came out hating it. Wtf happened to movies? We also came out really disappointed with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
@@azv343 yeah idk. I think both Wicked and Barbie had their audiences, but I wasn’t quite either of them. Admittedly, Barbie I enjoyed more simply because of Ken so there was at least that. But people were acting like it was a revolutionary film and I couldn’t disagree more with that. Beetlejuice 2 was a clunker but I had fun with it lol
I absolutely loooooved it.

Dude how are you so under rated?! You give honest feedback about it without hating on it. Hope your channel continues to gain traction!
@SailorMoon1fan thank you! I appreciate the kind words. Certainly trying to grow the channel so I’m glad to have your support!
@ good luck with it and happy holidays! 😊
Keep up the vids man

Hey thanks for watching! And yes I HIGHLY recommend watching The Wizard of Oz. It's an incredible film

@MichaelTheMovieMan musical is basically the same story. The book is dark as f*** but similar story

For one, they could have spent their money and talent on an original work rather than a thin, mediocre play that already exists
