once you are a Bowie fan,you are forever a Bowie fan, time means nothing. There are hundreds of outtakes and live recordings that just keep emerging and when you hear them you are reminded how much you absolutely love this guy
"Where all were minds in uni-thought, powers weird by mystics taught, no pain no joy no power too great, colossal dreams to grasp the fate, sad-eyed mermen tossed in slumbers, nightmare dreams no mortal mind could hold, a man would tear his brother's flesh, a chance to die, to turn to mold." thank you david bowie
Both versions of this song are really good. 0:33 and 1:40 really carry this version, and I love Bowie's breathless, hysterical singing in the original release. If he could have combined both of those into one performance, it would have been fantastic!
This version is the best even if it is an out-take. Here are the lyrics for the uninitiated: When all the world was very young And mountain magic heavy hung The supermen would walk in file Guardians of a loveless isle And gloomy browed with super-fear Their tragic endless lives Could heave nor sigh in solemn, perverse serenity Wondrous beings chained to life Strange games they would play then No death for the perfect men Life rolls into one for them So softly a super-god cries Where all were minds in uni-thought Powers weird by mystics taught No pain, no joy, no power too great Colossal strength to grasp a fate Where sad-eyed mermen tossed in slumbers Nightmare dreams no mortal mind could hold A man would tear his brother's flesh A chance to die to turn to mold Far out in the red sky Far out from the sad eyes Strange, mad celebration So softly a super-god cries Far out in the red sky Far out from the sad eyes Strange, mad celebration So softly a super-god dies
Blue Epic lp , all way through, One you can keep going back to. The supermen, after all, the width of a circle. First time i listened to it one morning, couple nights later woke up to Ronson playing in my head! Keep on going back for more. : )
This is absolutely my preferred version of the song, because it has the proper build up and release. The MWSTW version, while still fine, hits too hard too quickly. It feels less dynamic than this version as a result.
I think that's because it's the last track of the album which itself was slowly building. Bowie seemed very interested in albums as a whole instead of isolated tracks, so it's hard to judge single tracks on their own at times
When all the world was very young And mountain magic heavy hung The supermen would walk in file Guardians of a loveless isle And gloomy browed with super fear their tragic endless lives Heaves nor sighs in solemn, perverse serenity wondrous beings chained to life Strange games they would play then No death for the perfect men Life rolls into one for them So softly a super god cries Where all were minds in uni-thought Power is weird by mystics taught No pain, no joy, no power too great Colossal strength to grasp a fate Where sad-eyed mermen tossed in slumbers Nightmare dreams no mortal mind could hold A man would tear his brother's flesh, a chance to die To turn to mold Far out in the red-sky Far out from the sad eyes Strange, mad celebration So softly a super god cries Far out in the red-sky Far out from the sad eyes Strange, mad celebration So softly a super god dies
To die, to be *really* dead, that must be glorious.(from Dracula 1931). These men could not die! They could suffer. But death was not an option. What would you choose?
RadioFreeEurope1 Absolutely and the young Frenches love her .She leads the National Front .But i told you , in Media is a little bla bla cause she wants to enter in race for President and needs votes from Muslims and Gypsies as well. So all will be a bit or more disappointed in one year .This is the real shit politic.
kim peace Well, you know she couldn't be any worse than those lovable Socialist DICKtators: Hitler, Stalin and Mao On second thought -- maybe she is. Don't vote for Hillary RodHARD Clinton. (Three-hundred-million people and all we can find is another Clinton?) -- Wake up America!
Blue Remember Bill Clinton's war on women? He raped all those chicks and then took advantage of poor Monica LEWDINSKI... Good times according to the Democrat Party.

Death Grips are so awesome it's hard putting it into words.
YOU NEED TO VIBRATE より高い
No death for the perfect men.
So True!
So softly, a supergod dies.
6 months without Bowie. He's still with all his fans.
Oh God, the guy was awesome.
Culture shock future shock
@StringHail56 ...#@ck your self, shock your self...
Just stopped in to remember.
Bowie's output from 1967 to 1983 is untouchable by today's standards. A true iconoclast.
First version of this song I heard, and the best.
RIP to the soundtrack of my life, I thank you David Bowie
Anybody like David Bowie and Death Grips?
iirc Bowie was a death grips fan
I think he stated that Death Grips was one of his influences during the making of Blackstar
Treye Billups he never directly said that but the producer for blackstar said he listened to rhem a lot
Yes
David Grips

I LUV this version! Someone sent it to me on a tape as a cut off a bootleg LP and I'm so happy you posted it here on You Tube!!
I'm here because of Death Grips
Love this song.

The lyrics in this song remind me why I love David Bowie so much, genius!
Just stay upon the path...trust your heart...and beware of all the rest...all those that wonder...are not lost
better than the one on man who sold the world.
This version is the best even if it is an out-take.
Here are the lyrics for the uninitiated:

The supermen would walk in file
Guardians of a loveless isle
And gloomy browed with super-fear
Their tragic endless lives

No death for the perfect men
Life rolls into one for them
So softly a super-god cries

No pain, no joy, no power too great
Colossal strength to grasp a fate
Where sad-eyed mermen tossed in slumbers
Nightmare dreams no mortal mind could hold

Annette Myers 'The Supermen' is one of my favorite songs -- and I've listened to millions of songs.
Blue Epic lp , all way through, One you can keep going back to. The supermen, after all, the width of a circle. First time i listened to it one morning, couple nights later woke up to Ronson playing in my head! Keep on going back for more. : )
I think it was recorded during the Ziggy Stardust recordings
Shawn Wick This was pre Ziggy. Woody Woodmansey and Mick Ronson played on this album though.
This is an excellent version of 'The Supermen'. It's a brilliant song anyway, but this version really is fantastic. Thanks so much for posting it.
This is absolutely my preferred version of the song, because it has the proper build up and release. The MWSTW version, while still fine, hits too hard too quickly. It feels less dynamic than this version as a result.
But those DRUMS that hit you and me right off the bat! OMG!!! You gotta admit that the other version has one of the most kick-ass drums ever recorded.
@@mellotrongurl8275 I was thinking the same thing. Those tom drums are fucking powerful
I think that's because it's the last track of the album which itself was slowly building. Bowie seemed very interested in albums as a whole instead of isolated tracks, so it's hard to judge single tracks on their own at times
prophetic, doom like voice, like a sorcerer telling a tale, great...!
Awesome, isn't it?

Yeah man wtf. Sampling a song is literally saying " I think this song is great and it's what inspired me to make music"
Jimmy Page Riff ..
