I MADE THIS IN 4 DAYS LMAOOO i truly can't understand my own work process. But what an intense 4 days it was. As I'm writing this I've eaten two tangerines in the last 12 hours.
Anyway! Hope you guys liked it!! As I said before, I try something different with each project. Here I got more artsy and used what I learned in the homage animation to experiment more with transitions :]
Its crazy to think my first animation attempt was in February :O i've certainly gotten a lot of experience since then!

My interpretation is that BBH is heartbroken by the fact that he potentially killed his best friend and goes to Quackity to try and gamble canon lives so he and skeppy can get their life back while at the same time BBH is regretting his decision of joining the Eggpire bc of what it caused him to do to skeppy plus the fact that he lost his best friend to the eggpire as well

The subtle details like in 0:26 and 0:30 where it shows that Bad completely trusts Skeppy with everything and they’ve been through everything together from the very beginning. Or in 0:12 where they’re so connected that Skeppy shares half of Bads souls, in my opinion showing that they’re true soulmates. Then when the thorns come in and completely engulf Skeppy at 0:14 it shows both Skeppy being physically controlled by the egg but it can also be shown that those thorns are blocking BBH’s view of Skeppy, illuding to the fact that BBH is getting completely blindsided and controlled by the egg. Unable to see clearly. The egg controlling them through their relationship, also shown in 0:32.
Another detail I like to add, is that throughout the animatic, the ring Skeppy and BBH share slowly gets more and more red vines wrapped around. Which I think it’s pretty neat detail to show how they’re being slowly being controlled.
I also like the themes of Lava in this too. Where they’re younger hanging around where Lava is, then transitioning to where BBH I believe found Sapnap in 0:35. Then in 0:36 where I think he is grieving where he pushed Skeppy in.
In the scenes where Quackity is in death is shown LOTS. 0:44 with the smoke. 0:56 with his hand being a skeleton and 0:57 with the cards being skulls. Showing Quackity being there and playing a important role in BBHs life. To blowing up the egg and to where I believe BBH is gambling his canon lives to grieve. I think as much as BBH might hate Quackity, it showed after what happened with Skeppy, he is all he has left.
The mess of colors and paint through 1:08 to 1:11 I think shows BBH internal conflict and grief and panic to what he’s done. 1:13 to 1:16 I believe shows him getting swallowed by sorrow and guilt. 1:17 him being chained by that guilt and Quackity offering temporary relief by cutting those chains. But leading him to fall back worst in 1:19.
I’m not entirely sure towards the end but here’s what I interpreted:
So BBH gambled away his life to Quackity out of that guilt of killing Skeppy. It was too much for him the bare so he put out all he had. The “halo” in his name and the “bad” I think being shown in 1:30. (I could be completely wrong but I like the idea). Towards the end, I think Quackity ended up taking control over both Skeppy and BBH similar to the way the Egg had taken control over them.
Overall I love Paprikup’s animatics. They’re absolutely beautiful, my heart won’t hoooold up ;n;

I also noticed at 0:26 the disk is in frame symbolising that he joined or wanted to join the disk war, and at 0:29 when they are holding hands it goes from almost like a child/chibi like style to a more realistic older hand meaning that they have been together a long time and they are really close. And the scene at 0:38 is the equivalent of a real life badlands kind of biome and the fact that it leads to quackity’s casino means that he has a a connect to the bad lands for a while. Overall this is an amazing animatic and I love it so much. This is just what I interpreted so I may be wrong

Can we please talk about how Bads heart starts as a pure seed, slowly growing and blossoming into a beautiful love (for skeppy, seeing as the background slowly turns into more and more blue till the whole page is basically taken over by it.) that turns rotten (seeing that his heart is now upside down, it’s first layer is black and cold, then you make it to his heart and how it still beats, then, to a small blue part where he holds all his love for Skeppy or; how skeppy owns that part of his heart) and the background isn’t blue anymore, and now vines litter the Ground and his face isn’t happy anymore.

Small detail no one’s pointed out yet: At 0:50, the heart on BBH’s tail breaks in half and falls off, making it sharper, which I lOVE

i think that bad will most likely go to quackity's casino to gamble for Skeppy's extra life since they both lost a canon life already. bad finally understands that the egg will not help, has never planned to help, and never will help him, so he goes to the only person that has constantly tried to reach out to him to give him help. quackity.
I want to theorize that Skeppy's accidental death was BBH's last straw. He blames Quakity for this, almost as much as himself, and believes that the Egg will bring him back.
So he lays out his cards.
He lays out his plan, his cards, and throws *everything* he has to lose into the fray. There's no going back, and BBH knows this.
It's all, or nothing. The guilt of killing his best friend, his beloved(?), is too much for him to bare. He *has* to do this, or there's no other way. The Canon life lost on his end shattered their reality, and made their desire to bring the Egg into power even stronger.
It promised him, that he and Skeppy could be together.
Maybe, BBH took that promise into Heaven and Hell, too?
The animation is so mind blowing. The transitions, the strokes, the colours. All of it. Brilliant.
The way it transitions to Bad's tail broken in half- my heart- I can't-
If anyone is confused, this part happened at 0:49 , if you take it apart frame by frame, you can see the end of Bad's tail was a heart and then half of it broke off
You can see at 0:11 that half of Bad's heart is blue, which means that the part that broke off symbolizes how Skeppy wanted to break off his friendship with Bad

I wanted to share something I was thinking about. Bad’s initial wish to the egg was to be happily with Skeppy no matter the cost, yet it took him far too long to realize that the price was his ability to love anything but the egg. (Not exactly cannon I think but I kept thinking about this and wanted to share)
i'm already crying, i love how it felt super emotional especially with all the brush strokes and the colors and even the song choice was just amazing! going to rewatch this a million times brb LMAO
prepare for me to whip out all my old english class skills because I want to sic my brain on something to analyze
I've watched this animatic about three times already and i'm watching it more because there's so much symbolism crammed into so many beautiful frames. It's like a kick in the chest, even from the first part where Skeppy and Bad's hearts are basically each others - symbolizing their lives literally tied to one another's - as they raise glasses to one another only for them to turn red as they're quickly swallowed by thorny red vines.
After the vines consume him he's sitting alone holding the glass, tinted red but noticably looking for something - they've both fallen, leeched of color, but Skeppy's disappeared completely. The camera pans down to reveal Quackity, holding a torch in the dark, like when he snuck through the catacombs into the Egg room to try to prize away Bad and blow up the parasite.
Bad's heart starts like a seed, growing into a flower but turning red and once again getting swallowed by the vines. At the same time he grows older, sharper. The camera shows him sitting next to a lava pool clutching something white, pure - Skeppy's soul, I believe. In the next portion - Bad's tinted red, on the ground, but Skeppy is standing and helping him up, symbolizing the first time Bad fell to the Egg and Skeppy pulled him out of it.
It cuts to Bad handing Skeppy one of the discs. Their first bid to power.
Then it cuts to them holding hands, young.
Then again, holding hands, old and sharp, looking almost painful but still determined.
It's not being told entirely linearly. There are figures of Bad carrying Skeppy out of the Egg room, carrying his pure soul - trying to take him away from the Egg, away from what they'd become, but stumbling and falling into the fire while doing so. Cut to them both standing in lava, Bad holding Skeppy in apology. It pans up to the current-time image of Bad kneeling next to an orange and blue lava pool, hands reaching inside, a recurring image (given that this is a depiction of an actual event.)
In the next portions, the Badlands are looking to a far-off Las Nevadas, as if realizing it's existence and power. There, Big Q grins, sensing his first customers. He pulls out a cigarette, whose smoke briefly takes the image of a skull, and it morphs to rolling TNT. For a split second, it's Wilbur standing there, not Big Q. Wilbur, who was the first to convince Q that true power has to be found in force and manipulation, not just words. Wilbur, who was just brought back to life with plans in mind that could bring more destruction than anyone could imagine.
Back to Skeppy and Bad - Skeppy stands silhouetted against fire, one hand reached out in offering. Bad, grieved, wipes his face in determination. He reaches out, towering over Skeppy, colors a sharp black and red, and you know he would've taken the out they've been given (with Skeppy's fresh second life after the lava incident) if the Egg hadn't forcibly seperated them again.
Faced with seemingly no other choice, Bad goes to Big Q and makes a gamble.
A gamble with, essentially, someone who has become a harbinger of death - one of the mysterious horsemen, someone accompanied with the sound of sirens and thunder. a deal with the devil, if you will.All of Big Q's cards are deadly, however. There's no winning here, but Bad is too blinded by his guilt and emotion from killing Skeppy to even know what he's gambling away.
We get probably the most linear sequence of the animatic, here: Bad's recollection of when he killed Skeppy, in that moment of rage. We get Skeppy's POV as he falls, Bad being swallowed by orange. There's darkness and confusion, then Bad plunging his hands into the lava, too late. Since their lives are tied together, he falls too, swallowed by temporary cold blues before being caught by chains and pulled up into blood vines again. Bad is caught in a cycle, torn between Skeppy and the blood vines' hold on him.
"Just when you can cut me loose"
We see Big Q's smiley face severing the chains, the deal done.
Bad plummets, and they're back where they began, Bad's soul holding Skeppy's soul. For a moment the vines try to strangle it, but they fail, and his soul shatters and breaks free of the egg. Bad flies with it. Their struggles are recent, but a memory.
But Las Nevadas, and death, still lingers.
Big Q's power grows.
Guess that's inspiration for you! Still, please eat and rest more, you need it :(
... breathtaking. I can’t even begin to explain your fine use of colors and transitions!!!!! They way you conveyed the emotions, the memories, the connections is really a masterpiece by itself.

The part where Bad's tail was a heart and it broke as he got older UGH so much detail in this animatic
For me it recalls Bad and Quackity friendship from their childhood to their adulthood with maybe a deal made by Bad to be able to follow Quackity in the Overworld. With maybe a love story between them. This is an incredible and fascinating animation criminally underrated.
Dude you really keep getting better, I didn't think I would be more impressed with how expressive your animation/art style is but the more like impressionist painting segment near the end was really really cool and added a ton of emotion.

To understand this whole incredible animatic I needed to watch it on the slowest speed 0.25 to see every detail you puted inside this amazing animatic, I love the transition from smoking Wilbur or Quackity to totally Wilbur throwing dynamite to the floor like showing what Quackity did to egg and Showing that Wilbur or Vilbur is still watching you( you thought I won’t recognise Wilbur’s coat hehehe >:) ) also very painful and sad story that goes around Skeppy and Bbh , truly heart breaking to see what Bbh doing with himself because of grief , like gambling his lifes and playing games with Quackity that totally lost his mind for his casino , also part when from Bbh’s mouth flys away his soul or something like that and then transition to him flying on trident , showing him wanting freedom is awesome idea 💡, and this is reminds me about my thought about how Bbh’s feels deep inside, I mean how much time has passed since we last saw his true self and not the one who is under control of the egg, his probably screaming for help in hopes that someone will hear him and help him to escape from the control of the egg, I also love the way you portray Quackity’s obsession with his new job and showing how evil and bad he has become or becoming, and part with Bbh hugging with little Sapnap is so wholesome and heart breaking at the same time

poor bad honestly, he offered everything he had just for skeppy only to get betrayed by the egg and lied to when it promised everything he ever wanted would come true. not only that, how throughout all that work, he sacrificed his friends in the process. only to it be called “selfish” by skeppy. truly the most beautiful yet heartbreaking friendship on the dream smp. i hope bad reunites with skeppy eventually. :,)

My interpretation is that after Skeppy's death, Bad tried to live normaly. But he can't. He think that a friendship with Q gonna help. But it don't. No matter what he do and how many times he try, he can't stop blaming himself and being obsessed bout Skep. Q remainds him of Skeppy. Egg remainds him of Skeppy. Living remainds him of Skeppy. EVERYTHING REMAINDS HIM BOUT SKEPPY.
And he is just in pain. In torture of depression, sadness and blaming. And he can't get out.

0:21, 0:25 & 1:01 I noticed that bad seemed to be immortal from the amount of hearts as shown? And the animation is implying they "bloomed" because of Skeppy...
0:59 here, when they gamble, the chip(is that what its called?) in bads hand is purple and i assumed the symbol on it represents bads broken heart(tail?) while quackity has a blue one, prolly skeppy. When bads tail broke 0:51 and became sharper, i believe it was due to skeppy(or both of them, actually) also being corrupted by the egg 0:47 and so, theyre separated by the vines 0:53 because they could no longer see the person they want to see in each other. Note that purple symbolizes mourning.
Overall im impressed that such abstract like animation made me so invested in interpreting the meaning behind every frame like, only Paprikup can do that! Kudos!

There’s so much to say about this animatic that I wish I knew how to put into words but I’m glad others in the comments are giving such detailed analysis. This is such an amazing, heartbreaking animation I love it so much. I’ve watched it five times by now.
And while there are many details that could be pointed out, I think one that really did it for me is how BBH’s design changes throughout. His younger/past self has a much smoother, rounder appearance that makes him look innocent and friendly, even when he’s sad or hurting. And then there are moments where his design morphs into a more sharper, jagged appearance that makes him look threatening, closed-off. It’s evident in many scenes but it really caught my eye at 0:50-0:52. It’s so short but so intriguing.. Especially when I noticed that the end of his tail is shaped like a heart, which then changes (or even shatters) into what looks like a broken heart. The attention to detail is remarkable. And then BBH and Skeppy standing in front of each other, hands reaching out to one another, only to be separated by vines? Seriously-there’s so much well-executed story telling here. I’m very impressed... and now I shall continue to sob and rewatch
