Finally finished! :'D that was a lot of work wow. I wanted to make each scene more atmospheric since the tempo was on the slower side. Had way too much fun with sound effects KEK.
This was a song ive always liked, and this cover gives off that desert vibe well. A lot of the desert scenes were inspired by my time spent living in one :D
A lot of this animation was used to lead up to/justify my new quackity design, I didn't think it was possible to make him any edgier.
For that reason, not everything portrayed is necessarily Dream SMP canon, but rather me havin fun with it.

What made you choose city of stars? Like dang it's surprisingly perfect
There's so many tiny details in this and there's so much to talk about, but I just wanted to mention how the chips in his suit case get replaced with teeth, because it's such a tiny detail, and it's there for barely a second, I didn't even notice it till my third viewing, but it's *there*
ooh smth i noticed in the scene w karl and sapnap, when just quackity and karl are hugging, and Quackity is a bright blue, then as sapnap runs to them, he grips tighter onto karl and gets more gray. idk what that means but its smth i noticed!
i adore this soft and kind of haunting style, its sweet and scary all at once, I think this might be my favorite quackity animatic ever!
Someone may have asked this already but what do you do if you want to use a song that's copyrighted? Like do you just use it and nothing happens? Or is there a process you have to do in order to use it?

i love when big q and schlatt are dancing, there's this moment where quackity's heart fills schlatt's empty one. he's giving away from himself for schlatt. MAN THIS IS SO COOL I'M STILL SCREAMING
and he flies too close to the sun like icarus and falls the next scene with techno's pickaxe on the bg-
I understand the symbolism and it hurts
it is much sadder to know that there is no one else next to Quackity ... not even his fiances, since Karl and Sapnap went to kinoko kingdom, And Quackity didn't even knew about it, he was going to make their own casinos, but even so, they left him behind, with a deep void, where the only one that still was with him was Jschlatt, he will never leave, his own heart is in Quackity, forever until he gets the revive book.
The way it transitioned from a wholesome song to a nightmare masterpiece? The way you framed Quackity's whole history with incredible transitions and metaphors? The glitches throughout the song and the bit where his heart fricking shattered? Holy shit you are too good at this

Gosh this was terrifying and full of tragic reminiscence. I loved the ambiance, the feeling of things all breaking down and falling apart, the world in upheaval, transitions jarring and sounds unsettling. And the frame where Quackity’s heart was visible through the hole where Schlatt’s used to be was particularly arresting. Like they were sharing a singular heart.
I just know Quackity is gonna be seen as the villain, a power-hungry villain, (mostly because of the influence of Jshlatt, and Wilbur) but I just see him taking away the problems of the SMP violently, but yeah who knows maybe his way of dealing is the wrong way, because who knows really if the egg is gonna be gone because of the explosion, it could’ve released some madness into the SMP, which is why Eret didn’t do so, he didn’t want to release if that was the case, because that was going to be another responsibility, he wasn’t ready to deal with, because he’s still trying to do is redemption ark.
All I know from when I watched this, that Quackity is still pure, doing the things he loves, and once he saw an opportunity to gain power, he leans onto Jshlatt, and my god do I love the two hearts, I think they both symbols ‘that they both share the same power’ (because Quackity was doing it on his own, but when he knew they weren’t getting at many votes as Wilbur/Tommy, because George Didn’t anticipate one of the important meetings, and neither did ksi, making them look like idiots, so he shared his votes with Jshlatt)
And the next thing I know Jshlatt rips the heart of Quackity, this could be betrayal or just sick of sharing that power. Quackity falls sinking in his loss of power, but climbs back out, signifying that he still hasn’t given up, although his heart (relationship) for Jshlatt is broken, and can’t be repaired. And man don’t I love the next part. I love the fact his hat that showed maybe a pin? I'm not too sure what it is, but I’m going to go with the pin, showing a sad :[ which can sympathise he hasn’t used his full power, which is why it then goes to :]
The hand, with the ring, I’m not sure what your trying to tells us, but it could be Quackity hurting himself to move on to a new relationship with Sapnap and Karl, although still struggling with the emptiness he feels and saddens to keep up, trying to be happy. The thorns showing could be the amount of emotional damage done to him, which is why he is going to Karl for help (I think it’s Karl, because of the squiggly line in the background) but Karl slowly disappears because he has memory loss, and because of that he forgets Quackity most of the time, and because they hardly spend time, they go to their separate ways, on different paths. Forgetting each other more as time passes. The rose with Thorns on Quackity’s chest could show how love is damaging him as a person. And on the next part, I’m guessing the poster is Mexican L’manburg you can see an arm reaching to him (probably another reminder of his misery, to make him stay put in his emptiness) but Quackity shrugs it off and makes a dramatic change, (probably of thinking if he lets go of all these emotions and feelings, by taking drastic action, to make him busy, so he cant think of the past+Which could be why he refused George’s offer to visit their country because he doesn’t want to redeem the memories of him in Mexican l’manburg) to letting go of the past and make the new future, probably with him, showing a lot more power. And there we see chips (with Quackity smile on them)
I might be wrong, but it could show how weak and small Quackity is as one person, but the more there is, the more how strong and powerful Quackity is.
And the torture instrument is because of Dream, the calendar is to show how many days he had visited and tortured him, to get the knowledge from Dream to revive Jshlatt, not because he wanted to because he lost a bet. And I love the :] on the Calendar, this is probably representing that the days aren’t important, because it feels the same continued day. After all, Quackity is just continuously torturing Dream one day after another. And could it be the water splashing onto Quackity, when he takes out that torture instrument, the sadness and despair he feels doing it? Because it feels nothing to him to hurt someone because he’s been so damaged from love itself? And the opening of the skull, I think that could be Quackity going to revive Jshlatt? Because of the blue aura around the skull, because Glatt wears a blue jumper and he’s dead. And you can see the number of teeth that have been pulled out, most probably from Dream.....I wonder how many teeth Dream has, but he is a Dreamon, so maybe Dreamon has a lot of teeth, which is why Dream has such a huge happy smile on his face, and the Rose again showing how much love damaged him. Quackity stands there, with his heart no longer there, miserable, and then use this kinda thorn looking pole, this is probably saying he is using his misery and sadness on others, so they know how much pain he felt. And because of that, he is satisfied with it, this story shows how Quackity went from a power-hungry although the loving person to a Sadistic Power-hungry, showing no mercy on others because no one showed mercy on how love could shatter him as a person. It can show how Quackity just became not human, although he does show affection to the people he loves, like Tommy, George and the others, it’s not like he doesn’t feel that complete emptiness around him while trying to fix his heart. Quackity is honestly becoming Naki from Tokyo ghoul. And the thorns in the end, with a sound that sounds like madness, had been released into the SMP, with a smile, showing the new Quackity is just beginning.
Man I think this is the most analyse I done for an animatic, hope you liked it tho, because I enjoyed this animation a lot! More then sadists

EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
I have been watching this for the past 10 minutes and do not intend to stop any time soon. It is breathtaking and heartbreaking and suspenseful and captures how tragic Quackity's story really is. All he has ever hoped for just doesn't work out. He wanted to join L'Manburg and was denied. He ran for president and lost. His relationship with Schlatt fell apart. He made a country and was left behind. This just shows those so well, and I can't get over the violent ending, the heart draining, him falling off the building, the heart breaking, his dance with Schlatt, him hugging Karl, ripping the paper, and just the art itself. I can't say enough how much I love this so I won't try, as I fear my fingers may fall off typing so much. So I'll just say: WELL DONE!
I have so many theories: First at 0:45 you can see a blue and red heart on Big Q the way they look is if it where to look like a poker card the blue heart is jshlatts because Q big ate it and now he will only be lead to his down fall because of shlatt always being with him and you can see when they start to dance jshlatt lets go of Big Q and he falls meaning Jshlatt doesn't need Big Q. At 0:54 the bright red ram horn in the back ground looks like it is stabbing Big Q and the heart on his back is up side down meaning jshlatts and Big Q's hearts are combine you can also see that shlatt doesn't have horns but a beanie meaning Big Q is probably dancing with death him falling off the "roof?" was a gamble this is a repartition of his arc. Then at 0:56 Jshlatt now has lost his horns/ power and is dead only left with Big Q heart in his hands. 1:18 Big Q comes through the portal with "shears?" in hand probably to make Dreams life hell and to get the info for shlatt to come back also big Q's eyes turn white repatriating that he no longer has a heart and is probably bringing back shlatt to get it back. 1:27 him looking at the ring that Snapnap and Karl gave him and then hearing a cracking sound which I'm still not sure what that means. But Quack has a flash back to Karl and Snapnap and how his eyes where black and he didnt have scars this probably means that black is the repartition of the heart because back then he was still filled with hope. 1:38 we see Quack jump then fall and see his bones probably meaning " he no longer see's him self as a person but bones". 1:39 Big Q is bleeding from the wound that made a scar on his face. 1:42 we see a plant growing from the grow and withered rose i think which also ties to Karl and the in-between not being safe because of the dead flowers. Then the rose grows on to Big Q (probably) meaning Big Q is just a shell of his former self but because his eyes are watery he wants to go back to how it use to be. everything from their is think tells us how angry he about how nothing is going as planned and now he's fallen so low. He rips of the poster of karl him and snapnap maybe because when karl made his new town he intived snapnap and some others but not Big Q, Karl might have forgotten him and is starting to lose his remember or The person in the in-between was some how Quackity telling him not to leave but Karl didnt trust him and forgot about him. then we see shears, teeth , and chips probably because his arc might be about not gamboling money but gamboling lives. The X's are how many times he has seen dream and now he is betting how long Dream will stay sane. The arm coming out of the " lava?" is Big Q breaking into the prison because at this point he wont let anyone stop him from getting what he wants. the skulls reverence to the gamboling lives . thrones, and the dead rose have replaced is heart meaning he wants to world around him to be his (remaking the in-between maybe?)

I had alot of similar thoughts as well! I have watched this....about 10 times now just dissecting every little detail I can think of. The only addition to this that I can currently think of is during 1:38 where Quakity look like he is jumping across the river...I believe this is referencing his leaving of L'manberg and him venturing into new lands (I believe it to be called El Rapids) but as you can see he trips and falls. Symbolic of its failure and you can see he is suddenly alone when in the previous scene he was with Sapnap and Karl. Then scene 1:43 is a parallel to 1:33 but Quakity is obviously has more corruption on him because as you said: He is a shell of his former self.
I'd also like to say that I'm very glad someone else noticed everything and pointed it out! So thanks for that and I just have to say this animatic is absolutely GORGEOUS. I adord it so much and it has to be one of my favorites ever. Not only because of the beautiful imagery but the way the creator uses sounds to tell a story as well! You can honestly even getting meaning from the simple sounds!!! For example, the beginning of this video Quakity's heart was obviously full but it was beating...then it would later on crack and shatter. Meaning he is heart broken and as Vasiliev said: He is just a shell of his former self.

EDIT: OH MY GOSH I JUST CAUGHT 1:39 AND OOP. Okay! I paused at just the right moment and my previous theory may be somewhat right but there is something VERY VERY important I missed. If you pause right during his fall you can see the image of a pickaxe and a cape (A.K.A Technoblade) which is referencing Quakity getting said tool "in his teeth". This would no doubt have been something that would frustrate and anger Quakity and you from the color schemes being red it is either referencing the sheer bloodiness of it or his r a g e.
You then later see in 1:42 this flower that begins to grow and the scene becomes black and white as Quakity now has thorns growing on him. This would be symbolic of him closing himself off and becoming distant (whether or not it's on purpose or subconsciously I am unsure). BUT THE MORE I LOOK THE MORE I FIND AND I DIDN'T EVEN PUT INTO ACCOUNT COLOR SCHEMES AND AHHHHH I LOVE THIS SO MUCH AND I NEED TO WATCH IT MORE TO FIND MORE!

the water animation is incredibly beautiful and the quick and sharp realisation after the terrible events he went through by the soft sounds to reality.

semi-coherent ramble about the animatic which is always beautiful tysm for this Pap:
In the beginning, Quackity playing the guitar can be seen as him trying to pretend he's fine as he's trying to portray his past self. Or at least longing for his past self. That's pretty much what City of Stars is about, a yearning for something. But then of course, that really isn't the case since he's been through so much messed up stuff.
Schlatt's appearance just helped hasten his downward spiral. The dance represented their conversation and their old power dynamic: with Schlatt taking the lead and Quackity following along.
By the end of their dance, Schlatt plunges his hand through Quackity's stomach and drops him into an ocean which may or may not be a Count of Monte Cristo reference. If so, then the Ocean symbolizes rebirth (Schlatt's wings could be alluding to his resurrection or rebirth inside Quackity, take your pick, if its the latter then that just leads me to my next question: how much of this new Quackity is Quackity, and how much of it is influenced by Schlatt. Now I'm not saying Quackity is completely innocent, I'm just saying that would he have gone to these extremes if it weren't for some... other forces at play). If you don't know much about that book, it really is just a mirror of current Quackity. He starts off as a man with good intentions, who saw a bright future for himself and everyone around him but was forced to change his perspective of the world after he got beaten down by people he knew. He would go on to seek revenge on those who wronged him, and there ws no limit to what he would do to right their wrongs to him.
This New Quackity looks at the world with weariness and contempt. He has thorns around his heart, not because he wanted to hurt others, but because he had been hurt so much he doesn't have any other choice but to hurt them back. He can only reminisce about his memories with Karl and Sapnap and Cedar Rapids, but he will never be able to reach them again. Quackity protects himself by locking himself away from the world, and, in doing so, has effectively made himself alone.
Being killed by Technoblade planted the seed to his path of darkness. It just made him realize how helpless he was in the face of physically stronger enemies, and how he had to be wary, cunning, and to always strike before they did.
Quackity to rturing Dream was just the accumulation of all his frustrations and anger at everything that has happened to him. Is it morally right? No, but if Quackity knows anything, its that things don't have to be morally right to work- they just have to give results. His end goal is power over the rest of the server and if Dream is a barrier to that then the only course of action is to break him down.
In the end, Quackity is covered in thorns. It's his hatred for the power struggle in the SMP, and how people like him barely get a voice. He was tired or being abused, tired of being ignored, he was sick of the hypocrisy of it all. He is now lonely, guilty, and covered in blood. He has done things and gone to ends his previous self would never have imagined. In the end, Quackity gambled all for power, and in the end, the only question that matters is: _was it worth it?_
Deep and true
This is terrifyingly good. It speaks of heartache, of longing. And yet it shows the damage, the violent, sudden decent and flowers hiding thorns in their midst. A hurt character that now hurts others.

I love all the subtle symbolism in here that’s hard to interpret. I love the aesthetics, especially when schlatt rips out quackity heart. And schlatt ripping out quackitys heart looked so good! everything’s so smooth, and it must’ve taken such a long time to do. the end scene with the casino noises? It was so abrupt, and I like how it interrupted the calm vibes. there’s so much more in here that’s amazing, but I just can’t describe it - I’m so mad I didn’t discover you sooner. I’m excited for any more work you do in the future!! 🌺
Oh holy sh*t - Schlatt ripping his heart out of Quackity's stomach was crazy and the sudden ripping sound of the paper gave me the jumpscare of my life.

This animation is insane! I genuinely teared up, it portrays Quackity so well, his story and his somehow constant heartbreak. He's tried to be a good guy and do things the right way but he always loses something he cares about so he resorted to not caring, eliminating any connections that could hurt him and do anything to get what he wants.

Sounds a lot like Dream, to be honest.
Kinda a Theory(?); I feel that overtime, schlatt had more of an effect that him, quackity, or anyone knew. It became to where Jschlatt merged with quackity's heart, and overtime when schlatt died and broke quackity, his heart shattered as he lost his feeling of love, as well as his heart. THEN, Sapnap and Karl came in but when they hid things from him and left to kiniko kingdom, quackity inevitably gave up on love as a whole. He may now start to remember it, but will convince himself that love only leads to sorrows because of all the trauma he has had from past lovers/love in general.
Two words only- HOLY F*CK.
I never thought much of their relationship to one another, except for the fact that they were married and had a falling out ( not sure how to word it ) but after seeing this, it made me think of them in a new perspective. And oh gosh, Quackity slowly breaking apart bit by bit-

THIS IS SO INCREDIBLY GOOD THE WAY EVERYTHING CHANGES, THE SOUNDS, OH MY GOD
i love this so much! even after building a new home, finding a new passion and falling in love again, Quackity wasn't able to go back to a normal life: he had already been corrupted by toxic relationships, greed and anger. this is probably what makes his character so interesting and deep, and you represented it all perfectly!
Maybe the thorns and roses are a reflection of Quackity’s obsession and anger? Or perhaps a reflection of shlatt even after his death, as quackity could be getting the revival book to revive shlatt. The rose skeleton arm thingymabob reaches out for the poster before quackity does, and if the rose petals are a reflection of his obsession of getting info from dream and gambling or shlatt, it could show how its forcing him to distance himself from those that mattered the most to him. I dunno man this animation has been on my mind all night (from sheer amazement at it like holy shit) and I just woke up but haven’t seen many other people speak about the skeleton arm reaching for the poster first!

This an amazing reflection on Quackity’s story and the challenges/falls he’s had. The ending greatly reflected how secluded or cold he’s become to other people do to distrust.
I'VE WATCHED THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN, THIS WAS SO IMPORTANT TO ME, I LOVED THIS SO MUCH AND STILL DO. SO DEAR TO ME.
This- entire video, from the moment Schlatt ripped out his heart or love from Quackity was just a rollercoaster of being amazed or shocked. It was very VERY fun to watch and I love the SFX ripping into the song and bringing you back up to reality,

One thing that I find absolutely INCREDIBLE about your animatics is the fact that they center more around character themes instead of relaying set, linear stories of the SMP. While you do show canon events, you focus more on the feelings of the events. I think that the story of La La Land fits well with Quackity. The couple breaks up to pursue their own goals. Quackity puts the people he cares about underneath his main goal which is power. I gasped at how you incorporated the pickaxe scene! Quackity takes his own loss of a tooth (which Techno did in self-defense) and inflicts it sadistically on Dream (very gruesome, i like it). I am assuming that it's a witherrose he's wearing which has so many implications (TWGDLM Paul voice)!! He is a withered, corrupted character now, and his red heart has been replaced with blackened thorns. The wither rose also implies his past(?) relationship with Karl. He falls (literally) again and again for the people he loves, only to get hurt by them, so at the end, he stands tall and emotionless over Dream in the prison.
I haven't even TOUCHED the color schemes and THAT FALLING IN WATER scene *chefs kiss* :]
P.S. I was confused with the last sound effect because I associate it with Bedwars beds breaking LMAO.
It honestly amazes me how people can put so much depth into Minecraft roleplay

I literally spammed my amazed reaction to my friends, but, oh my god. I can't even explain how good this is. THE CREATIVE DIRECTION, THE SOUND MIXING, THE ART ITSELF, LORD. LITERALLY ONE OF MY FAVORITES IF NOT THE TOP, Okay actually sorry for the caps but I can't express it to you how much I love this. WHEN HIS SHEARS POP OUT THE LAVA ASND KARLNAP HUG HIM AND THE THORNS,, bro. The ending is so. good.
Also, this doesn't really mean much and maybe I'm completely reaching cause it isn't exactly,, but because it itches my brain for some reason, I'm just gonna say him and schlatts hearts kiinnda form an ace of hearts,, if he had a third. I mean, the placements make sense lore-wise obviously, but seeing it here for the first time stood out to me. So, that exists I guess. Now that I think about that, it would've been cool if he DID have three hearts for that reason, though it wouldn't make sense in any ways I can think of.
And really sorry for how jumbled this is, but just, it's all super well done, ((plus I am very tired after today and I don't think that really helps)). Seeing full blown animations like this really inspire me, and it's why I made a second YT account to work on things like this myself and possibly post them there. To see someone make something so detailed and take the time out of their day to make media for the fans and hell, even creators themselves, to see is just so cool to me -- I am sort of embarrassed of this comment ngl but I think flabbergast is the only way I can describe it as of now, keep up the good work!! :D

DUDE.... DUDE. THIS WAS INSANE. I genuinely got chills, the animation is so fluid and the way the characters move is so jarring it sets me on edge. The colors are so beautiful and are utilized so well. Definitely my favorite animatic to come out of the fandom yet. Keep up the beautiful work!

This is so cool I'm in awe at the transition near the end when the heart monitor starts, the sign is ripped, and we see the calendar days getting marked off. The coolest thing was when Quackity was dancing with jschlatt and his heart was ripped out and he fell into the water- that seemed like an Icarus reference almost haha. This was so good though I legit don't have words from the sound design to every frame 💜💜💜💜👀 just so good

My View Of The Animatic.
Scene 1.
As you can tell. Quackity has the scar, meaning this was after him and Techno's battle. I think this is literally a day or so after and he's just thinking back, trying to figure out what he did wrong because it seemed everything was going his way up until the end.
After that. When Glatt comes in. I think that'd of been the first time they truly met. Though I think that is meant to show the fact that Glatt is haunting Quackity.
The blue heart is Jschlatt's heart since his body is blue and there is a missing heart.
Scene 2.
Them dancing. As you can see with Ghostbur and Glatt. They have way different things about them. Ghostbur's personality is basically the opposite of Wilburs while Glatt has his memories and has basically the same personality. I think the dancing was meant to lure Quackity in to give him a sense of security before Glatt proceeds to rip out HIS heart. Reclaiming it.
Scene 3.
As Quackity is falling, you see no sign of struggling. Meaning he either knew it was coming or he was just used to the betrayle. As he walks out of the water. He looks depressed. He should've known to not trust Jschlatt.
Then, it shows his back as his hearts starts to drain. Looking very similar to Glatt's before he got the heart back. Which is saying he lost his last bit of kindness and just gave up. This being more shown when the heart breaks. Basically showing that Big Q has given up.
Scene 4.
Him coming out of the portal is probably him going into the prison to torture dream. He looks at the Ring. Knowing what he's about to do for Glatt and realizes that he still cares for him even if he also hates Glatt.
Though I can also see the ring as Karls/Sapnap's ring and him looking down at it. Thinking what they'd think of him after rumours get out of him torturing dream.(Since they both still like Dream)
The hand cracking makes me think that he convinced himself that he doesn't care about what Karl/Sapnap Think. He has to do this.
OR(If it is Schlatt's ring).
It's him telling himself that he doesn't care about Glatt and that he has Karl/Sapnap.
Scene 5.
My first theory on scene 4.(The Jschlatt Ring) Is that he's thinking back to moments with Karl/Sapnap and thinking how happy he is without Schlatt.
Second Theory On Scene 4(Karl/Sapnap Ring) He's worried on what they will say when they find out what he's done and looking back on the good times.
Scene 6.
Quackity is trying to run and falling. Maybe it could be running away from Schlatt and trying to go to his fiancés but he can't since he has to do this.
Or it could be because he can't think of a world without Karl/Sapnap. He think's if they find out they'll leave him and he can't deal with that.
Scene 7.
Karl reaching out to try and stop Quackity but Quackity refusing the help and doing what he has to do.
The Thorn's in his heart is basically him trapping himself. Shielding himself from any hurt or love. He doesn't want to be talked out of his.
bruh there are so many things that are great about this animatic--
the design for Quackity, the song being interrupted by other sounds, the use of parts of the big lore stream that Quackity did recently, the lighting, the representation of both JSchlatt and Karl and Sapnap being Quackity's heart, AND THEN IT BREAKING D:, the animation for Quackity going through the portal, Glatt and Quackity dancing, Quackity staring at his ring, THE FALLING, and of course, how could I fORGET THAT IMAGE AT THE END OF QUACKITY STARING RIGHT AT ME THAT WILL DEFINETLY GIVE ME NIGHTMARES--
but in all seriousness, absolutely amazing work, I've watched this like twenty times already.

Okay. You literally need to know that I can't put into words how amazing this is. Like, I can normally find some kind of footing to stand on and place what I like about a video on top of it, but there's no footing at all here. The whole presentation is just incredibly stunning. Every part of this has so much creativity on its own, and just placed together- Wow. I can't explain why but this just nearly brought me to tears. You did a fucking AMAZING job with this, oh my god.

HEADCANON: quackity didn't use to be a sociopath, he fell for schlatt and started to break and then when the marriage and stuff with karl and sapnap went wrong he lost emotion. he literally had his heart broken apart. and now he's even more of a villain, well not villain necessarily but definitely an anti-hero, than he used to be. painnnnnnnnnnnnnn
