I love myself some good Imagery and yours is superb!

I find it interesting that How Bad Can I Be fits schlatt so well, especially when it didn’t do the Onceler justice. The Onceler is in denial, but Jschlatt is taunting you, rubbing it in your face, daring you to retaliate against him and give him a reason to crush you and make you suffer even more.
I know right. Each character in the series are played so well. It really shows that not all of your main characters have to be the good guys. I mean Dream is LITERALLY in the name of the roleplay and yet he is the main antagonist. And like techno’s character is so sick, technoblade does an incredible job at acting it and I cannot stress that enough. And in the beginning we were supposed to think Wilbur was good, but if you think about it, he IS the bad guy and the good guy. Not because he blew up L’manburg but because of what he believes and what he did it for

In the simplest terms. This happened back in October November but you probably have heard of l'manburg. Tommy and Wilbur held and election and Quackity ran against them with George. Wilbur got schlatt as an endorsement for them but schlatt said he'd run for himself. Schlatt runs and him and Quackity pool their votes to win by 1%. Schlatt becomes president and exiles Tommy and Wilbur. Tommy and Wilbur want l'manburg back. This animatic is about how schlatt runs l'manburg which he renamed manburg because they don't take Ls.
It’s cause he’s Lawful Evil by Dungeons and Dragons terms. He’s evil, but not in a “I will destroy the world!” away. It’s more of a “I will own the world!” sorta evil.
"Who cares if a few trees are dying" Literally sounds like when Jschlatt goes full villain mode and also is so true because he wanted to burn down the trees
People forget that in terms of "power", Schlatt was just a dude. All he had was charisma. Dream? Can canonically access creative mode. Technoblade? Spent 10 years being a divine PvP fighter. The egg? Eldritch horror. Schlatt? Played the game. Went out on his own terms. Banned all the toxic Dream SMP stalker-fans from his stream. Schlatt is what everyone wishes they could be as a villain in a story. Dream is what you are when you accept you lack the charisma.

I can't say exactly why, but I absolutely adore that part at 1:32, where Schlatt's face gets darker and more sinister as the beats progress, "So I'm biggering my company, I'm biggering my FACTORY, I'M BIGGERING MY CORPORATE SIGN!" And how he swings around on a wrecking ball through the smoke and shows how the destruction increases!
Schlatt treating the words 'How bad can I be?' as both a dare to be as awful as possible while also using it as an excuse to do said awful things is wonderful.
Considering the song itself IS extremely catchy and hard hitting I always thought the visuals in the lorax were poppy and "too pretty" for the thematic nature the song needed considering this song is like, the one good part of said movie lol ... this absolutely fixes it. The choreography is fantastic, i LOVE how sharp every beat hits, absolutely beautiful animation and the visuals being extra scary fits SO well! I really wish I knew a proper way to watch dream SMP because i love the content that came from it but when i tried to watch it it was just a slog lol
I think if you want a "Proper" way to watch the dsmp story line I'd watch technoblade's old dsmp vods, theyre not that long only 2 hours in length. Going back before that the lman war i think I'd recommend Wilbur (I know) or tommy's old vods. If you're not into watching super long vids check out Evanmcgaming they cover the entire lore of the dsmp in 25-50 minute videos.
It also changes the meaning of the song, bc in the Lorax it's about the Onceler convincing himself that what he's doing isn't a big deal but here it's about Schlatt gaslighting everyone else while causing as much chaos as possible
I always found that kind of funny. Schlatt honestly wasn’t that bad of a president, and actually progressed L’Manberg pretty far, right up until he croaked. He just had such a bad demeanor that people didn’t like him. To be fair he wasn’t all that nice to tommy and wilbur, but objectively he wasn’t all that bad. He simply saw wilbur’s anti democratic views, as well as his destructive and manipulative potentials and tried his best to keep his nation safe from it.

I think schlatt knew he would eventually be elected out, but he also knew that he would be seen as the villain by tommy (who many view to be the main character) as well as the viewers, so he decided to play into it

The problem with Schlatt isnt that he was a bad president per say, just he had a bad demeanour and while he was smart generally, he wasn’t smart with words if we’re being entirely honest. Until the end when he became a drunk, all that was really wrong with him was he was just shitty in terms of personality.
Honestly, this is a great example of how the right imagery can change the entire meaning of a song. Where the original movie portrays the song as what the Onceler is telling himself, this animatic portrays it as what Schlatt is telling YOU, while also showing that, unlike the movie Onceler, he knows what he's doing, and really doesn't care. This also helps to turn the main riff of the song from, 'catchier because the original song, 'Biggering' was too dissonant and scary' into 'corporate thug'. I actually think that this works better here than Biggering would, because of that. *Edit* Upon further reflection it seems much more likely that both the Onceler and Schlatt are speaking to both themselves and the audience, but with a key difference shown by the presentation; the Onceler (allegedly) doesn't know what he's doing, where Schlatt not only does, but he thinks he's right to do it. Survival of the fittest after all. They were too weak. They DESERVED to be crushed. It's no contest which one makes for a more compelling musical number, as well as all around villain. *Edit 2: The Revenge* Wow... thanks, everybody, for the likes! *Edit 3: Judgement Day* Thanks for getting this over 1,200! *Edit 4: The Final Chapter* Over 2,400. ... as someone who's trying to get more into character creation and design, this analysis is super helpful! being able to think what makes a character sympathetic and compelling to an audience vs making a character evil and despicable. your comparisons are 100% accurate and i think it has to do a lot with the stories each character is taking part in. schlatt is supposed to feel like a bad guy, irredeemable almost. whereas the onceler in the lorax was a bit more of a sympathetic character who tries to fix his past mistakes as he truly realized how bad what he had done was. anywho i really liked your analysis, it's definitely given me a lot of thought towards writing compelling characters

His death was perfect, at least to me. For a character who started as this big, scary and powerful man, to then die in a situation where he was weak, drunk, andstripped down of everything he had, i love it. Unless you meant unsatisfying for the characters, which makes sense. It's a good subversion of expectations :)

It was a really anticlimactic-but still climactic in a different way? I can't explain it but it was amazing! I agree that he was a great villain. Even now, after so much time has passed, we still feel the effect he had on the smp, mainly through Wilbur and Quackity
Shlatt dying was an ultimate "fuck you" to the entire server, because not only did he not allow anyone the pleasure of killing him, he also left behind The Book as this apple of discord for everyone to fight over.
The jarring movement and sharp lines and sort of "messy" line art with a lot of lines fits so well with the music and the transitions and just with schlatt as a villain and I cannot express how fucking cool this looks and the usage of 2/3 colours to show how schlatt is everywhere and everyone is scared and the influence is just AHHH so good!!!!! I cant stop gushing over this dude

I loved Schlatt as a character. He manipulated EVERYONE into doing the exact opposite of what the revolution was. He turned Wilbur insane, shattered friendships between Tubbo and Tommy. And he destroyed the heart of the revolution using TECHNOBLADE HIMSELF. Thank you so much for making this, I’m gonna go support you if u have a patreon or something.
His line “If I die, this nation goes down with me” was just disregarded and attributed to him being drunk and on the brink of death, but he was right all along. He destroyed everyone that opposed him in the most brutal ways possible.
When you think about it, schlatt was the prefect leader for L’manberg or Manberg, he had a plan forward, he was very active and made actions that would benefit his country in the long run, he was the president who was able to eat up more land, he did stuff for his community and when he found traitors he acted in a way to get rid of the spy, when he found tnt stored below his country he made sure it couldn’t be activated, though he did quackity wrong, but he was in every way the best leader for Manberg, cause after schlatt the president gave away the thing keeping the country safe, and it became the divide
Bro this set is just so beautiful and satisfying. I love the amazing camera positions, such as behind characters, their feet, the way the camera angles at characters. It literally felt like this was a music video, like it was just a sketch of an amazing animation. On top of that, the characters designs, and expressions were just so satisfying to see! Such as the character saying “so I’m bugging my company, biggering my factory,” was so good! Like crazy expression, and the shots to get to the expression, was so beautiful.

I know right. Each character in the series are played so well. It really shows that not all of your main characters have to be the good guys. I mean Dream is LITERALLY in the name of the roleplay and yet he is the main antagonist. And like techno’s character is so sick, technoblade does an incredible job at acting it and I cannot stress that enough. And in the beginning we were supposed to think Wilbur was good, but if you think about it, he IS the bad guy and the good guy. Not because he blew up L’manburg but because of what he believes and what he did it for

In the simplest terms. This happened back in October November but you probably have heard of l'manburg. Tommy and Wilbur held and election and Quackity ran against them with George. Wilbur got schlatt as an endorsement for them but schlatt said he'd run for himself. Schlatt runs and him and Quackity pool their votes to win by 1%. Schlatt becomes president and exiles Tommy and Wilbur. Tommy and Wilbur want l'manburg back. This animatic is about how schlatt runs l'manburg which he renamed manburg because they don't take Ls.
As a HUGE schlatt fan, this fits him almost too well.
and all the details about him like the schlattcoin or the Yankee cap, its just... amazing.

Considering the song itself IS extremely catchy and hard hitting I always thought the visuals in the lorax were poppy and "too pretty" for the thematic nature the song needed considering this song is like, the one good part of said movie lol ... this absolutely fixes it. The choreography is fantastic, i LOVE how sharp every beat hits, absolutely beautiful animation and the visuals being extra scary fits SO well! I really wish I knew a proper way to watch dream SMP because i love the content that came from it but when i tried to watch it it was just a slog lol
I think if you want a "Proper" way to watch the dsmp story line I'd watch technoblade's old dsmp vods, theyre not that long only 2 hours in length. Going back before that the lman war i think I'd recommend Wilbur (I know) or tommy's old vods. If you're not into watching super long vids check out Evanmcgaming they cover the entire lore of the dsmp in 25-50 minute videos.
It also changes the meaning of the song, bc in the Lorax it's about the Onceler convincing himself that what he's doing isn't a big deal but here it's about Schlatt gaslighting everyone else while causing as much chaos as possible
You can say what you want about Schlatt, he knows how to play a villain.

I always found that kind of funny. Schlatt honestly wasn’t that bad of a president, and actually progressed L’Manberg pretty far, right up until he croaked. He just had such a bad demeanor that people didn’t like him.
To be fair he wasn’t all that nice to tommy and wilbur, but objectively he wasn’t all that bad. He simply saw wilbur’s anti democratic views, as well as his destructive and manipulative potentials and tried his best to keep his nation safe from it.

Honestly, this is a great example of how the right imagery can change the entire meaning of a song. Where the original movie portrays the song as what the Onceler is telling himself, this animatic portrays it as what Schlatt is telling YOU, while also showing that, unlike the movie Onceler, he knows what he's doing, and really doesn't care.
This also helps to turn the main riff of the song from, 'catchier because the original song, 'Biggering' was too dissonant and scary' into 'corporate thug'. I actually think that this works better here than Biggering would, because of that.
*Edit* Upon further reflection it seems much more likely that both the Onceler and Schlatt are speaking to both themselves and the audience, but with a key difference shown by the presentation; the Onceler (allegedly) doesn't know what he's doing, where Schlatt not only does, but he thinks he's right to do it. Survival of the fittest after all. They were too weak. They DESERVED to be crushed.
It's no contest which one makes for a more compelling musical number, as well as all around villain.

as someone who's trying to get more into character creation and design, this analysis is super helpful! being able to think what makes a character sympathetic and compelling to an audience vs making a character evil and despicable.
your comparisons are 100% accurate and i think it has to do a lot with the stories each character is taking part in. schlatt is supposed to feel like a bad guy, irredeemable almost. whereas the onceler in the lorax was a bit more of a sympathetic character who tries to fix his past mistakes as he truly realized how bad what he had done was.
anywho i really liked your analysis, it's definitely given me a lot of thought towards writing compelling characters

His actions paired with his extremely unsatisfying death, makes him such a good villain.
His death was perfect, at least to me. For a character who started as this big, scary and powerful man, to then die in a situation where he was weak, drunk, andstripped down of everything he had, i love it.

When you think about it, schlatt was the prefect leader for L’manberg or Manberg, he had a plan forward, he was very active and made actions that would benefit his country in the long run, he was the president who was able to eat up more land, he did stuff for his community and when he found traitors he acted in a way to get rid of the spy, when he found tnt stored below his country he made sure it couldn’t be activated, though he did quackity wrong, but he was in every way the best leader for Manberg, cause after schlatt the president gave away the thing keeping the country safe, and it became the divide

Bro this set is just so beautiful and satisfying. I love the amazing camera positions, such as behind characters, their feet, the way the camera angles at characters. It literally felt like this was a music video, like it was just a sketch of an amazing animation. On top of that, the characters designs, and expressions were just so satisfying to see! Such as the character saying “so I’m bugging my company, biggering my factory,” was so good! Like crazy expression, and the shots to get to the expression, was so beautiful.

Its literally in the song, they were trying to correct them, because they actually thought Balcazar Laura heard teens, and didn't understand that it was about how teens be dieing in the dream smp. im pretty sure at least.
The animation is not only incredible, but it fits Schlatt so perfectly it almost feels too perfect
The parallel of Wilbur and Schlatt singing along and doing the same moves is soooooooooooooo good. It perfectly reflects how wilbur eventually turned into what he hated and became a villain by him misstrusting everyone after, in his mind, his country and even his own son betrayed him.
the part where it switches between wilbur and schlatt singing literally made my jaw drop, it's so insanely good !!!!!

Why is no one talking about the Wilbur and Jshaltt transitions??? Like holy hell, it fits for both characters, I love that he and Jshaltt would flip between each other, it's just ahhhhh

Seriously though this has gotta be one of the best (and without a doubt most stylish) animatics ever. The transitions and the way it perfectly portrays Shlatt's arrogance and swagger, combined with the song that somehow works the best out of literally any other song. Plus the fact that, unlike a lot of animatics, it isn't edgy or emo at all. Just awesome. Makes me want to start animating. I love this so much.
and can I get a pogchamp for Quackity's guitar skills??? Hell yeah
