- If you fancy experiencing an eclectic mix of Buddhist and Nomad culture without going to Mongolia, make Buryatia your next destination !!
Start with the world’s largest head of Lenin in the capital Ulan Ude before driving out into the countryside and seeing how life goes on in the vast Steppe. Experience how Russian and Buriyat cultures intermix - you might never believe that you’re East of lake Baikal!
Lovely video Luc, one of my favourite places.
❤
Another very entertaining effort - as usual! Loved the calligraphy!!
Luc, thanks a lot, you can find beauty everywhere! Appreciate you visited Ulan-Ude and showed the city of my childhood for more ppl to visit and know it better.
Thank you Dasha - hopefully more people will visit Ulan Ude after seeing my video. And this is only the first part !!
Amazing videos! So helpful - thank you! Love your Crimea videos too!
Amazing!
Nice! It's such fun to see Russia through your perception!
Thank you Ruslana - please keep watching (lots more to come) !!
Another very interesting video.
Thanks!
Thanks - did you watch the second part too ?!?!
İ had first seen Ulan Ude in the TransSiberian video of a popular youtuber couple from the US. Looked quite interesting and one ir two other video. And in each of them İ found a lot new things and yours is great too and has new stuff in it. Your idea of touring with a knowledgwable guide Bator, showing us the caligraphy class, graphics exposition, the intersection with buildings from four different periods all were great and the cathedral was pretty, had seen it in another video but certainly needs mention. Thank you and spasiba to Bator, your guide.
Ulan Ude definitely worth a visit, Mehmet - too many people assume that Russia is a Slav-only country, when in fact there are hundreds of nationalities living here.
@@theotherway9498 and hundreds of languages from different language groups
Nice 👍 Luc
Luc, thank you for this video! I am from Ulan-Ude, it is my home town!
Glad that you liked it - did you check out the 2nd part of the video, out at the Datsan ?!
@@theotherway9498 not yet, but I will, when I get a chance. We are doing a comparative project with students on Buryat and American foods, so we need more videos about Buryatia in English.
Great city, nice work, Luc. One tecnical issue - music is loud, text is silent.
But near city is buddists Ivolgin Dacan, few kilometrrs out of Lion mountain living old orthodox ppl. And hope you have tasted Omul.
Ivolginsk/Datsan will be in part 2 of Buryatia, the other way !!
Buryatia was part of Mongolia and China, it should not be part of Russia, should be independent now
Although I oppose communism and it's russian version of it, Bolshevism, I would only keep Lenin's statues in areas where minorities live, because Lenin gave autonomy to small and remote ethnic groups like Buryats. In most of Russia where Russians live, his statues should be removed and sent to autonomous republics.
It is not for you to decide what should and should not be in the Russian Federation. Better take care of cleanliness in your own toilet.
Ulan-ude bad city 👎
