- After another long pause between scenery attempts....I have a go at building a carved "rock" wall , at the Slide Shed site. There's not enough room to sculpt rocks of any size, so I thought a "Cut " section of rock may look ok ?
The whole area is not correct, but I like the slide sheds , so this is good practice for the new layout! The next video after this will be a rock painting demo on how I achieve the colours on the plaster.
Enjoy!
Gregg.
I love your videos , they're very entertaining and educational. The work you do is art.
Thank you ! Don"t know about art...LOL I'm glad you enjoy the videos.
CHeers Gregg,
Thanks for the teaching me and giving me a good idea for my train layout.
My pleasure, it's all practice and rewarding when you get it how you want!
Hello Greg and I have to say thank you very much for the idea for a spot I needed so now I have the answer And greetings from northern Michigan🚂🚂
There you go Michael! I hope it suits the space more than mine...though this was just an experiment fo building the shed.!
Good luck with it and thanks for watching!
Cheers Gregg.

Looks amazing Gregg. Awesome technique.
You're too kind Bob! Hope to get the rest of the wall finished this week or next.
Thanks for watching.
Gregg.
Thank you for sharing. 👍
Thanks for watching SIr.
Gregg 🙂
Love how you are carving, it looks great. The coloring is difficult, trust me, I have been going with lighter colors just because the lighting is not the best. Unfortunately the darker I paint the rock work, the less you can see the details. Having a shelf layout, it’s hard to have a vast space to landscape. Hopefully the new layout you are building, will have some great lighting. Again Gregg, wonderful job, unfortunately we will never see the finished product of the current layout. Cheers from Hot and humid Nebraska, Terry.
Thanks very much Terry! The lighting does make a big difference , but black or dark grey washes make a big difference, which I hope to show in the next video. I am thinking about lighting for the new layout and have tried a few ideas which I will work on in the future. I will try and take most of the scenery with me in some form .
Cheers Gregg.
Looks great mate. 👍
Thanks Lindsay ! A bit more to go before I'm happy with it.

Dear Gregg, cool vid! Don’t know what kind of plaster you’ve used, but the type of plaster can indeed influence the way it absorbs color. From the looks of your mixture it seems rather moist. Not saying that’s not a good thing. But that too may be a factor in how the plaster takes pigment. Combined of course with the relative humidity percentage at the time you put the plaster on. The amount of water added to the plaster will influence the drying time. Don’t think the coloring should be a problem though. You may just wanna try some stronger pigmented washes to get this rock face to your liking. Looking forward to seeing the next results. Cheerio
That must be true VInce, as I did put the colour on the day after, but it can take a while for the Sculpt it mix to dry, so I'll wait a bit longer for the next try. I have such long gaps in doing scenery, I forget what I did the time before..LOL.
Thanks for the tips and watching.
Gregg.
Parabéns, belo trabalho.
Thank you !
Cheers Gregg.
Hi Gregg just got a new phone try to a handle on it.
The colour you could be looking for is Tamyias flat flesh this is the colour that brings it all together my reference is from Boomer diorama's sorry l have got number for that colour as all my stuff is packed up for the big move .
The rock work looks really good nice contrast and shade, it all take practice and playing around with colours
Have fun!
Thanks Shaun! I will check that out , but I'm trying to replicate my previous work...which must of been a fluke the first time..LOL. All practice as you say , so back to the drawing board this weekend!.
Cheers Gregg.
Yes, well, 3 years into our house build (since conception) and we are at lock-up stage...well nearly, maybe next week. I understand your pain.
Good luck with it Richard! I'm 5 yrs in , and 7 if you take the start of the design with the architect! Starting to get a bit pi@#$d off now , as I want to stop work , but don't want to sit here waiting ?. Just got back from a week in Stirling and miss it already, so I'll be push things a bit harder from now on.
Hope you get to lock up soon.
Cheers Gregg.
🤠
Hey Gregg. Great video. I was curious, but is it cheaper and more reliable to travel around Melbourne on the trams or the elevated electric trains in the background? Are the prices for tickets for the trams and the trains the same between different routes or do they vary? Also, are there any updates regarding the sister channel yet? Cheers, Joe.

Where did you get those putty tools?
From a art supply shop Kristen, they are paint spatulars . Made in Italy but not too expensive.
Cheers Gregg .
