I honestly would not have expected a view of any of the theme parks, reading "resort view". I would have expected the view that you got. You can't even really see the parks, they're so far away, and they don't really look that interesting. I actually think the "resort view" is a lot more interesting and pretty. In fact if I had gotten a window facing just a tiny golf ball in the distance or the Tower of Terror, instead of a colorful piece of architecture right across the way, I'd actually feel more bamboozled.

I stayed at the Swan with my 2 young kids and we had an amazing stay. The 2 queen beds alone is a huge reason I will always choose Swan over Dolphin. I loved the vibe. Everything was clean. We had an amazing view with a balcony. Note- if it said resort view, I would assume it was a view of the resort. Only if it said Theme Park view would I assume I would see Epcot or HS. this is true for monorail resorts too as well.

While I’m not new to visiting the resorts, I’m new to staying on property for the purposes of the channel. And since it’s called Walt Disney World Resort, and I’ve never heard of “resort view” before, even outside Disney, that’s why I feel like it could be slightly misleading.

@@MagicalHijinxyou have a point, the way that they word it on the Marriott swan and dolphin website is different from the wording on the official Disney resorts website. The swan and dolphin booking website doesn’t distinguish between “resort view” and “theme park view,” the only choices are “resort view” and “no view.” And they word it so that it seems like you’ll be able to see fireworks if you book “resort view” lol. If you were booking a Disney operated resort such as the yacht club they would make that distinction. The swan is at the top of my list for my next trip, but I’m definitely going to book with a Disney travel agent and try to get an actual theme park/ fireworks view with a balcony. Having a balcony is so helpful because we like to go out there to apply sunscreen while we’re getting ready, so we don’t have to worry about it or forget later.

I think that's a great resort view! Especially considering that Dolphin/Swan really do have rooms with sh*tty views (e.g. facing a wall, or where trucks back up to leave their cargo, etc...). The resort view upgrade is 100% worth it, and I love the view!

Did you think 'resort' view is the same as 'theme park view'? For me, those 2 are totally different. I would've been so happy with this amazing view looking over the water and the Dolphin Resort with that amazing sunset glow! A resort to me is a hotel with all the extra amenities. What were you hoping to see over at Epcot? The fireworks? Thanks for the hotel tour!

Thanks for sharing this. I've stayed at the Swan and Dolphin hotels many times. It is unfortunate that a few years ago Marriott decided to stop working directly with Disney transportation (hence no drop off directly at MK, no more buses to the water parks, drop off at far end of Disney Springs, etc.). But note that the hotels are right next door (literally) to the Yacht & Beach club and Boardwalk Resort hotels. While a tiny bit more of a walk to get to the other hotels' bus stations, you can get the convenience of a better drop off point and more frequent departures if you go through one of the Disney hotels.

I stayed at the dolphin before and walked around the swan when I was there. I am an introvert and would MUCH rather stay at the swan, I need quiet places to re-charge after going through the parks. My daughter and I will be staying at the swan this spring. Can’t wait! Thanks for the outlet sitch section, it annoys me too not enough outlets or USBs, I usually bring my power strip to accommodate all my chargers.

Doesn't seem like shady marketing at all. A resort view makes me think I'm looking at the resort (parts of the hotel). If you want a view of the park that would be a theme park view.

I was just there last week for six days and I must say it rivaled anything Disney hotels offer for the most part with a cheaper rate. I didn't have a chance to check out the steakhouse restaurant but I will be back there whenever I go back there. The walk to Epcot was really cool as is the proximity to the Boardwalk. Just a really great location. the only thing I did NOT like was the $40.00 per day fee for "enhanced" WIFI and other fees that are more optional. For 6 days that was $200.00 for options I didn't have the time to use - except for the WIFI and even the Ramada Inn doesn't charge for that. I thought that was very 'nickel/dime'.
