you could also freeze your tofu, then defrost and then squeeze out to remove extra liquid. freezing it changes the texture and makes it easier to absorb whatever sauce you’re using. also a bit of cornstarch makes it crispy, whether you pan fry, bake or use air fryer.
I am so proud of you. This is an amazing journey not just for you but for many others including me and your sister. You are such an inspiration. I can’t tell you how blessed I am to have such amazing children. I love you.
I use cornstarch to make tofu crispy. I also freeze my tofu that was a game changer. I think the nutritional yeast is suppose to help with B12. Congratulations I finally made the same decision.
That is awesome on going vegan. It feels like a new world. Thanks for tofu tips. A few other subscribers said the same thing so I got more and put them in the freezer
You could put the tofu in the air fryer as well it takes less time . Sometimes I slice them and fry them or even jerk it. They take on the taste of almost anything.
Hi Abiyah! Hope all is well. Not sure if you are a wholesale club member like at Costco. But Costco has lots of options that are organic. Not everything is in huge bulk size. I buy maple syrup and agave there much cheaper than grocery stores. They also sell tofu and other vegan options. Some of the vegetables and fruits may be in too large of quantities. Also, they have great gas prices. Generally, about $.10-$.15 per gallon cheaper than surrounding area.
@@AbiyahBina Costco is cracking down on sharing membership. Be sure to go with the actual cardholder to prevent problems. Also, their gas is generally about $.10 cheaper per gallon compared to nearby gas stations.
@@AbiyahBina They sell them at WholeFoods or Target... I get mines from Target because it's a little cheaper than WholeFoods... Plus I have a Target credit card so everything is 5% off when using their card...
I'm so proud of you sis I slipped this weekend and ate chicken and dumplings my aunt made but I'm back on my vegan gang but I eat both eggs like just eggs or I buy dairy eggs...ooops I just love both and I have agava as well it's a natural sweetener better then can sugar I buy vegan butter and heavy whipping cream and oak milk or almond milk their both good
@AbiyahBina yes, lol It had me looking real close when I first saw the new carton...I was thinking, oh, somebody else has a plant base egg out here, lol
Sis... You don't necessarily have to travel long distances to the "fancy" joints to find such products. Regular grocery stores often carry vegan and organic products.. sometimes for less. Look online for grocery stores in your immediate area and see what's available. Once you find out what products and meals vibe with you, you might even find better bulk deals online. You might try date syrup, pastes, and 'sugar' as potential sweeteners. If you want the tofu to have a chewier, 'meatier' texture, try keeping it in the freezer for a couple of days before you know you'll use it; thaw it and squeeze out the water completely. If you want it crispier, try stir frying it. Looking forward to more of your journey!
An inspiration to many! Love it!🙌🏾

Hey Abiyah, I know the feeling. It's like that in Southern WV...no Trader Joe's, HEB, Publix, Wegmans, Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme, nothing...😢
