That sounds nice, and that SLP Maple 👌. I need to look into that SLP because I don't have a Maple snare

Nice snare for sure - has a nice tonal range - thick with some nice highs.

Wow. Beautiful tone to that snare. I’d love to hear the 6” you made. Old Superstars are great drums. I’ve heard they’re made of a Japanese birch that is now protected and is no longer cut. If true, that’s a shame.

Thanks! Here’s a little diary of the whole process and a quick iPhone video of the 6.25”: facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1956461001262798&type=3

f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c again! Looks great. For a 5.25" that thing sounds incredibly FAT with a double T. Mines the same color but I'm keeping the full 10" depth for a snom. What batter head are you using and did you rerouter both edges or just the cut side?

Thanks! I recut the top and cut the bottom. Both to the exact same profile as the original Tama edges. I have a router table. I filed the snare bed by hand. Power Center Reverse Dot on top, Snare Side 300 on the bottom.
