Greatest sax player ever, I'm 76yrs old now and so glad to have been young in greatest musical era ever, the 1960's, lucky to have seen Jnr Walker and the all stars in Nottingham all nighter
got a big smile and dancing in my chair watching this over and over on you tube. I remember dancing so much to this song in 1969. Love the sexy saxy by Jr. Walker. Makes me want to dance and get up and have fun with moves. Help me do that...
Wow, reading the comments I was 6, going on 7 when this song came out. For some reason it popped in my head. I didn’t even know the words, but I had to find it! So I Googled what I knew. “I tried, I tried, I tried”, and found it! Great song!
The sax world is kind of odd in that there are guys like Jr Walker who don't get their due. Respect. Motown sax players. People just talk about guys from the 30's to the 50's. Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon...etc. then in the rock genre Clearance Clemons. and a few one-hit wonders and their sax solo's. First time I heard Jr Walker...thought he was an amazing sax man...then he started singing...I was blown away...sounded like a great Motown singer. He was. :) His playing or solo's are never in any one's Top 10 (RUclips sax solo top 10s). Don't get t hat. Do people never figure the sax IS used in R&B?
This song brings back such sweet memories. I was 10 years old. My Mom, Dad and my 3 brothers. Sometimes it makes me sad, because I miss my mom and dad so much. I miss us all being together.
I pass Motown at least 3 times a week, there is ALWAYS a crowd there to see and tour it, even to take pictures in front of it, when it's closed! And don't forget, there is a funeral home right next door too, where people are dying to get in! But it's too bad the current generation of Detroit HAS FORGOTTEN Motown, and what it means to the world! Before RECORD stores closed, you couldn't even find a Motown CD or tape, but thanks to places like this, IT LIVES ON FOREVER!
I love this song! Listen to it every day. Extended version!! Their voices , saxophones & the groove. You can close your eyes & get lost in it or shimmy round the floor!!👍❤️
Junior at the Surrey Rooms, the Oval,London magnificent.Would not let him go home!!!!! At the London Palladium lying on his back playing his sax’ only the Tops could follow that!!!!!! Unbeatable memories.
I was a young teenager living in England, and we loved tamla motown! The country was just getting back on her feet after the war, it was a time of youth, energy and optimism. And Britain was THE place to be, good music everywhere, true freedom, no govt interference. Oh, and I could get out of bed without everything aching, pain? What pain? 😂😂lovely memories. xxx👍👍👍💗💖💞
I never get tired of this song. I love it now just as much as I did when I heard it for the first time. I love the sax, and Junior plays it like no other!
He really made it talk. Just like Jimmi Hendrix did with guitar and others made their instruments speak for them selfes. Very rare can truly hear the heart and soul like he did.
