  • Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective brings together some of the finest young chamber musicians in new and varied formations, with a specific and ardent commitment to celebrating diversity. In this concert, they perform Dvořák’s Piano Quartet in E flat Op. 87 and the Coleridge-Taylor Nonet in F minor Op. 2.
Coleridge Taylor, a well-known black composer who died in London in 1912, will also feature in our September concert series in a recital from Elizabeth Llewellyn and Simon Lepper.
This celebratory concert was recorded on 1st August at Wigmore Hall, but owing to the tightening of restrictions we were unable to have a live audience. Kaleidoscope Collective are one of two new Associate Ensembles at Wigmore Hall, appointed earlier this year by John Gilhooly.

I checked this out ahead of their Lammermuir Festival concert. The Coleridge-Taylor Nonet is a high quality piece and sublimely played. I wonder why I have never investigated this composer before. And the arrangement of They Can't Take That is a pure joy!

This was a most exciting concert to stumble upon. All such fabulous musicians, but I was utterly seduced by Tom Poster’s extraordinary pianistic brilliance. Thank you so much for the joy you brought.

This is a really wonderful concert. In the description where it says "program" you call the piece by Antonín Dvořák a piano quintet, but it is in fact a piano quartet. Perhaps the typo can be corrected. The shifts of mood and texture really come across well in this recording.
