    Do you know if this will solve my issue of wipers not turning off after they are switched on? I have an 03 TL and once the wipers are turned on, they won’t turn off :( any idea what it could be?

      It should, the wiper system is pretty simplistic. It consists of a fuse, the relays, the motor, and the switch. Since the wipers are wiping, this means the fuse and motor works. Check those relays, or what you could also do is switch some relays around from another part of the car and see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise I would try replacing the switch last.

      @@Salty5hoe my mom's 3rd gen TL is also having some strange exterior light/electrical issues.
      The combination switch (for lights, turn signals, etc) & the wiper switch are linked. The combination switches control module is built into the wiper switch, (at least on 3rd gen TL's).
      Besides one or both of these switches being bad, you more than likely could have an open/short in the wiring of this system somewhere or the under hood fuse box itself could be bad. All common enough issues on these cars.

    If washer fluid comes out by the wipers don't move, would that eliminate the switch from being the problem?

    • @CarRepairsMadeSimple
      @CarRepairsMadeSimple  Год назад

      If the wipers don’t move no matter what you do with the wiper stalk, I would suspect there’s something wrong with the fuse, relays, or the wiper motor.

    So I have a 2012 Acura TL and the wipers won’t shut off on any setting. I’m thinking this may be the solution since I’ve already checked the fuses and relays. My question is whether I will need to disable the airbag prior to performing the work or if you know where there is actually a risk of the airbag engaging while working on this following your instructions?

    Hi there, Happy New Year 2024 !
    I'm looking at a friend's 2003 Acura MDX and your video will help a lot in diagnosing the problem.
    The only thing that is working off the steering column wiper control arm is the front windshield wipers in manual.
    The washer controls, the intermittent auto control, the rear wiper control don't seem to work.
    I checked the fuse which is ok but didn't check the relays.
    Since all these things are not working I was assuming it had to be the control arm assembly unless I'm not thinking right. Can't imagine all the relays are bad.
    What do you think?
    Thank so much !

      I could have explained the diagnosis part a little better now that I rewatch the video. One thing to note about the wipers is that if you're able to get them to move in one way or another, that means the motor is getting power and your fuse and relays and probably fine. If your wipers never move no matter what you try, then there's probably a fuse or relay issue. If the fuse and relays are good, but the wipers still won't move, this additionally means there could be a problem with the motor. However, your wipers are moving, so that leaves your wiper stalk as the final culprit and it should be replaced. Thanks for watching!

      Hi there,
      I did end up replacing the control unit on the steering column but unfortunately this didn't help. It does the same as the other unit does. The only thing it does is the slow and fast wiper speeds. Rear wiper and washer not working and front washer not working. The thing that threw me was the person said one day everything decided to work out of the blue then the next day it didn't ?
      She has the MDX touring model which seems to be a little different. The small relay box under the hood isn't the same in the video. When I opened the box there are 6 more regular fuses and 3, I think, relay fuses? 30 & 40 amp.
      Inside the car on the driver's side I found the main fuse center and check the 30 amp fuse for the main wipers but the book shows also a secondary
      3 fuse group that has the rear wiper fuse on it which I can't seem to find.
      I guess I may have to go individually to each of these motors and test to see if they are getting a signal to them?
      (Rear Wiper motor and the two washer motors on the washer supply tank)
      Does that sound like a good plan or is there something else I'm missing?

    • @CarRepairsMadeSimple
      @CarRepairsMadeSimple  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Anthony-fh4yp The fuses involved are No. 9 (10 A), No. 11 (10 A), No. 12 (30 A), No. 47 (20 A), and No. 91 (7.5 A). Make sure they not corroded as that could cause a conductivity issue. The wiper relays are located at the front passenger side of the engine bay by the PS fluid reservoir. What you found by the brake fluid reservoir is the secondary fuse box, which has nothing in relation to the wiper system. I agree to test and see if there's consistent power getting to the motors, and also make sure all the connectors are attached properly and not corroded.

      The only other things to check are the relays and the switch. Since the motors and fuse are new, check those relays as shown in the video, or what you could also do is switch some relays around from another part of the car and see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise I would try replacing the switch last.

      It means you have a bad electrical connection, a disconnected or clogged washer tube, a bad washer motor, or a bad wiper switch. Start by revealing the washer motor behind the front passenger inner fender lining, and connect the motor terminal to a battery manually to determine if the motor of functioning.

    Is this normal? When I pull the wiper stalk towards me, it activates the rear window washer spray. Currently, to active the windshield washer spray, I need to turn the rear wiper switch that’s at the end of the stalk. Other than that both front and rear wipers work. Only the washer activation seems reversed. How do I find out how the circuit got crossed? Did someone install wrong relays?

    • @CarRepairsMadeSimple

      It's possible the hoses on the reservoir are reversed. Maybe switch them around if possible.

    what if the wiper is stuck on,is the problem more likely to be the relay

    • @CarRepairsMadeSimple
      @CarRepairsMadeSimple  3 года назад

      Ansley Lorenzo it’s very possible. The other thing that comes to my mind is the park switch in the wiper motor. Unfortunately, the park switch is built into the motor and can’t be individually replaced, so a new motor would be required.

    • @CarRepairsMadeSimple
      @CarRepairsMadeSimple  3 года назад

      If it's sending an electric current to the wiper but it's not actually wiping, it's probably the motor. However, it might still be worth checking the relays as it's easy enough to do. Good luck!

    • @CarRepairsMadeSimple

      It was a process of elimination. I tested everything else that could have possibly been the problem, meaning it had to be the wiper stalk, and replacing fixed the problem 🤷

    • @RothBeyondTheGrave
      @RothBeyondTheGrave 5 месяцев назад

      @@CarRepairsMadeSimple you didn't test everything else at all. There could've been an open/short in any of the wiring coming to or from the relay box or the fuse box itself. You also didn't test the switch whatsoever, just swapped it without definitive diagnosis.
      You got lucky.

    • @CarRepairsMadeSimple
      @CarRepairsMadeSimple  5 месяцев назад

      @@RothBeyondTheGrave I get what you’re saying. I only filmed what was necessary for me as opposed to going further and diagnosing everything. Wouldn’t call it luck since I had consistent power which meant the wiring and motors are good, so it came down to the fuse, relays, and switch. But thanks for the feedback, perhaps I’ll remake this video and go more in depth covering everything.
