This series brought so much entertainment. SA and aust drew in Australia, then agin here in SA. As a kid in Australia I stayed up to watch my hero Warne who was new on the scene, yet only to get smashed all series by prime Cronje. We also had controversy with Warne losing his cool with the Hudson wicket, this was the first time Warne would start to lose his golden boy image. Also Merv Hughes, from memory, slamed his bat into the fence of a spectator who said something to him. Great series and great SA team who I think alot of Aussies have soft spot for
Hopefully Smith can rebuild cricket to this standard. The rugby boys have turned it around and now it’s time for some tough 5 day series that SA boys show our history and passion for the game.
I love the way they used to have the score in the corner of the screen in Afrikaans, as well as in English, on South African television. This must be near the end of the careers of Merv Hughes and Tim May??
Merv would be dropped after the 2nd test of this series, and despite playing for Australia A in the home One Day series the next year (missed the finals vs Australia with injury) never appeared at international level again. He would play 2 more seasons at domestic One Day level with the fledgeling Canberra side weighing closer to both Springbok props than he is here in this match. May would play the first 3 tests of the next Ashes series batting out a draw in the 3rd test with Warne. He wouldn't get a game on the subsequent West Indies tour and didn't play for Australia after the 1994/95 season.
Loved Andrew Hudson..my favorite batsman
Those days of 90s nobody can forget.

Warne vs cronje was excellent to watch always he doesn't get enough credit in tackling warne
The late, great Shane Warne said that Tim May was one of his favourite bowlers to bowl in partnership with.
