Great, informative video. I appreciate the info. I've been trailering my boat the 6 hour haul for 25 years to Islamorada. This year we're in Marathon. I watch a bunch of Keys RUclipsrs, and your videos are one of the best
Good info, thanks. Me and 4 buddies are dragging our boat down to Marathon from Tampa March 16th for a 6-day run fishing the humps. Hoping for weather and a good bite. Cheers
Frigates are on the small surface tuna every day out there. Trolling the Hump hasn’t produced good fish in quite a few years. All about live bait and jigging down there if you want to catch 10+ pound tuna.
That can be the case, jigging is fun until the tax man shows up! On occasion there are the schools of large tuna on the hump and you can put the smack down on them on the troll. Have you noticed that happening when your out there?
@@marathonsportfishing I’m sure it happens on the troll but just so much more consistent to get in and out with live bait or jigs. You don’t have to deal with the goof balls either that don’t know how to navigate their boats on the troll.
Yup, the joy of fishing the humps! I do use jigs a lot as well but wanted to do a more basic video as a nuts and bolts. Maybe I'll hit up the jig sometime in the future.

Great video. I'd like to see lots more instructional videos of all kinds of fishing. Do you do much Gulf side fishing?
Sometimes, mostly winter when its windy
Your guides and reel are on top of the rod. Might be a novice question but why is that?
The rod is a conventional rod vs. a spinning rod.
I’m surprised you don’t use live bait on the hump
Dont really need to, when you start bombing the bait, the sharks get real heavy.
Big wahoos hand out there also
Yes they do, Tuna is probably their favorite food!
