  • My buddy Brian Woosley demonstrates for us how he makes his Wood Ribbons and Bows that he puts on the boxes he makes. This is an excellent video if you want to learn how to make them. Brian is an excellent woodworker and you can see his work or contact him with questions at:
    / splintersunlimited
Brian uses Olson #5 and #7 precision scroll blades from:
    www.scrolleronl...
The lacquer he used is Premium special purpose Lacquer.

Very good demonstration. You can tell the difference between a novice and someone who has been doing this for years.

I have a pretty full woodshop in Mountain View Mo. and have done turning in the past but get bored easily so I have made segmented bowls, made small wooden vehicles, and lately do Intarsia. I really enjoy using my Dewalt scroll saw. I really enjoy Brian's video and made a ribboned box several years ago.

What you call "compound angles" are actually adjacent angles. A compound angle has two different angles all in one plane.

I watched the video yesterday and have been wanting to do this for some time. Always looking for new things to try. Is there plans available for the sled that used to get the angles to glue the pieces together?

How did you bend the flat pieces for the bow. Do you soak them in water and clamp to round rods to dry?

Gosh .. I’m concerned for your ability to breathe. You are clinically short of breath.
