There are better replays with more frames. It seems clear to me the ball could not possibly have hit the racket, then the ground, then the racket again- and continued with that speed and angle- it would have died- particularly as Draper was just bunting it back, not swinging.
You can tell Draper knew right away he lost but surprised he got the point. Although I still don’t know what happened because it’s never explained clearly
Even in repetition we cannot assure 100% that the ball hit the frame first then bouced on ground then hits the racket. It s a though situation. At certain point looks like the ball bounced on ground first then hits the racket and shot is ordinary. We cannot blame referee and we cannot blame draper.
Yes we can! You hear the difference! the ump could have closed his eyes and still made the right call! A ricocheting ball bouncing into the court creates a loud and unique sound that is very different from a ball landing on the court and then being half volleyed! The replay is not great. Super slow motion is needed. In football, this is the only way to solve difficult cases.
AND HOCKEY...
looked at the slow motion replay at .25 speed and then I could tell the ball hit his frame, then the ground; but it's really hard to tell so can't blame the umpire; but yes as a prof, for sure Draper knew and should have conceded the point
Draper forgot, Tennis is in escense a gentlemen sport...it is not football, soccer whatever...it is more elegant if you give your oponnent the point as taking it for yourself...
What are people saying happened ? I can’t tell from the replay?
Are you saying it’s a double bounce or that the ball hit the ground again before going over the net ?
It hit the ground after it hit the racket. So a dead ball immediately!
@@al1976-v7mnope it clearly hit the ground once then hit his racket..
The ball clearly hit the ground first before Draper put the racket to the ball. There is no gray area here. This is as clear as water. The point belongs to Felix and this is considered borderline cheating by Draper. It is cheating because Draper knew he lost the point, but still didn't want to "admit" to it.
On the slow-mo, it looked like the ball was touching the ground and Draper's racquet at the same time before the ball jumped up, so maybe that's a legal shot?
0:49 If you play it at 50% speed, it really looks like the ball hit frame, ground, racket again (then top of the net to top it off). But a better replay would have been nice.
So clear this ball touched the ground. Draper knew. Brings the sport down when this happens.
Players are constantly looking to their team for feedback. I'd like to know what Draper's team thought about that?! Nice sportsmanship!
How could he cheat this way when he knew the replay would be watched by all the viewers?
Played it at 0.25 and still not clear if it hit the racket or the ground first. I need more frames
Draper immediately moved to the net for the handshake, that makes me believe that Draper believed it was a fair point.
Allensworth is tennis's answer to MLB's Angel Hernandez (who fortunately retired this year).
Draper was looking right at the ball and his face says everything
No, you're definitely wrong on that one. I'm not sure if he hit the ball before it hit the ground or not, but he's definitely not looking at the ball.
What's controversial about this?
It's objectively a wrong call.
Did it bounce twice? I only see one bounce.
Draper point for me. Correct call. 👍🏽
what was the ref looking at ? his phone?
Even in repetition we cannot assure 100% that the ball hit the frame first then bouced on ground then hits the racket. It s a though situation. At certain point looks like the ball bounced on ground first then hits the racket and shot is ordinary. We cannot blame referee and we cannot blame draper.
giusto,dillo ai sapientoni qui dentro
Yes we can! You hear the difference! the ump could have closed his eyes and still made the right call! A ricocheting ball bouncing into the court creates a loud and unique sound that is very different from a ball landing on the court and then being half volleyed! Just listen to the sound of the serve bounce, it's far less audible than the bounce of the return even though the serve is a much harder shot. Do you play tennis?
Even after repetition people are still divided till now about the sitution. the situation is though and the referee decided it s a legitimate point and we should respect referee decision. This is how tennis rules are and this is how tennis is played from decades.
@@koooravideos5674 i repeat my question: do you play tennis? For anyone with a decent amount of experience on the court this is NOT a tough question. You recognize it as soon as you hear the bounce and see the trajector. That's why Felix didn't even bother to run after the ball. That's how obvious it was to pros and experienced players.
@@al1976-v7mthe only justification for you is felix reaction. If you played tennis as you pretend you would not say that. We cannot use an oppenent or a player reaction to justify something. It needs a real proof. That's Very bad.
Too hard for the ref to see in real time. I would say, in the spirit of fair play, Draper should have conceded the point to Felix.
I don't understand. Did the ball hit the ground twice? What's the problem?
The ball hit the racquet and then the ground. FAA was robbed.
@@abhayjha6709 oh, now I get it. I thought it was the other way around. Thank you!
Félix Auger-Aliassime很紳士❤
Draper needed to ask himself, what would Alcaraz do in this moment? Kyrgios would have conceded the point immediately too.
Draper: "if i lost the point then i am willing to replay it".
What a hero
Why is this an illegal shot? I can't understand, can someone explain it pls
it hit his raquet then floor then his raquet again use x0.25 slowmotion
It’s easy to see the ball go into the ground on replay but Draper was running and swinging so I’m not sure he knew it hit before it bounced back up off his racket. We need replay in tennis. It’s obvious in the replay that it is Felix’s point.
Nope. It showed the ball only hit the ground one time. Then it hit his racket and went up and over the net.
@@JadeK297 you need glasses or you are trolling hahaha
right there at :50 .. the ball hits the ground
The umpire just needs to do his job.
The ball touched the racket then floor then racket then net.
It looks like the ball hit the racket and ground at the same time en then hit the racket again. It’s one motion, idk what the rules are but I think the ball hit the racket 2 times so if that not allowed in one move then it’s not a fair point.
No hawkeye in Cincinnati Open? What a shame.
Can the ATP fire that umpire immediately? There have to be consequences for bad decisions.
Drapper earned a few bucks and ranking points but lost way more, respect from his fellow ATP players. Bad choice.
Unfortunaly Draper was not looking at the ball because, as we all know, the ball is the last thing you look in professional tennis.
The shot looked fair to me
Even amateurs know it when they didnt make the shot. I understand sometimes you play by the ref because everyone gets bad calls all the time; however, in this situation, it's a bad look since there are cameras everywhere.
Prečo to televízia nedali k dispozícii? Veď sa to odrazilo už zo zeme a on to odohral… 🥴
I am looking the slow motion motion replay in slow youtube motion. Still unsure. I think both players were gentlemen, particularly Felix. Though for the referee.
Draper was far from a Gentleman here. If he had been, he would have conceded the point.
The umpire couldnt wait more to go eat his donuts..Tennis needs a VAR.
Draper He was supposed to be a man, And admit that the point is not his. True, you won, but you lost the love of the people, which is more valuable than the prize.
Awesome FAA 👏👏👏
Hmmm is it because of the double bounce noise? I guess it sounded like it was being jammed between the racquet and court. Really hard to tell with the low frame rate footagek
What was the chair thinking
The the ref admit his mistake to FAA after he réviséd the play
People say it’s not Draper’s call. Draper said he wasn’t looking. Funny that Felix saw it and he is playing. Umpires should be able to check video. Umpire said I’ll check later and he’ll apologize if he was wrong.
@@tennisgrip-t8o announcer Robbie Koenig knew it immediately as well.
Yes and that's because you hear the difference! It creates a much louder bounce on the floor since the ball hits it perpendicular.
Draper knows, even without looking.
Get rid of the UMPIRE..and ATP get replays NOW
draper is a player not an umpire
Genau deswegen nennen Wir in Deutschland den Schiri : Blinder 😉
