I agree it sounds badass. Same goes for M.I.A, her real name’s Matangi. She could’ve just gone by Matangi.
I only in the past couple of years gave rap/hip hop a real honest look (and ended up liking a lot) but legitimately when I saw my friends talking about Nas I thought they were just shortening Lil Nas X, for like months
@@millacernemusicm.i.a is fine imo
I guess it was because of fears of getting struck by a trademark infringement lawsuit from the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance as Montero is also the name of an SUV that Mitsubishi Motors used to sell here in the US (aka. the Pajero). LOL
@@Astolfo2001i googled it and it said : “He took on the name Lil Nas X, which was a tribute, he says, to the rapper Nas from Queens Bridge, New York. The word “Lil” has been popular in rap since Lil Wayne. And X is a common name amongst people of a certain culture (think: Malcolm X).”

Not only that, I think "Eminem" is a catchy name too
That and "being chocolate/black on the inside"

@IRO2GU no, I don't think he was
About the Will Smith one, there is something to be said about an artist simply using their name as their rap name (Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Denzel Curry, etc.). It exudes a type of confidence that I admire that the music they’re putting out is an unfiltered representation of them.
It also helps if you’ve got a cool name which makes Will Smith’s choice even more impressive in confidence because his name is generic. He could have stuck with The Fresh Prince.
Will’s rap name was “The Fresh Prince” he stuck to Will Smith when his show started because he wanted his name to be something he could be known for going on with the rest of his life
Let's argue: Anthony eats his victims before he kills them.
Always knew "vegan" was a coverup.
