I think he did truly love her, but when you get rejected repeatedly and get your heart trampled on, I think he got over being used by her (but still kind of loves her in his way) and decided he'd take her any way he could get her...

I have to admit it, I'm so biased towards her role as Bai Cao and so infatuated with Ruo Bai that if the same thing which happened to her in the prison as a torture, was actually done by Ruo Bai as a training ( the needle and the water thing), I would have liked that like hell!!! (It's a different thing that if these kind of punishments/ training procedures actually exist or not, or are right or wrong... That's not what I'm talking about anyway... Just wanted to appreciate the drama "The Whirlwind Girl"...)
