  • Many churches conclude Sunday worship services with an invitation to "accept Christ as your personal Savior." Is this a biblical concept? What does "accepting Christ" truly entail? Dr. David K. Salvation is only by The Blood of The Son of God. There's No other Way. When you feel The Voice of The Lamb Tugging on your Heart, Ask Forgiveness. When HE answers, you will be Washed by The Blood of The Son of God, Baptized with The Holy Spirit, and Changed ( 2Corinthians 5:17 ) You will know, Impossible Not to. Read The Bible Daily, The Holy Spirit will Teach and Guide you as you Read. Tell others what Christ has done in your life and how you were Saved and how they can be. By doing these things you will become Stronger and draw closer to The Lord.

I now go to an AOG church and our pastor will tell those that "confess" that they need to be baptized and that confeesion is just the start. They have to also grow or they never really made Jesus their saviour to start with. And tongues are not for everyone. It is a gift. There was a pourpose for the tongues on the day of pentecost. @@matthewhallet681 hi, if I can respectfully and kindly put a comment on that to your question. I absolutely believe everything bro Bernard teaches here. I’m not gonna add anything to what he taught.
The thing about if someone has access to water or not, I don’t think it’s a very valid argument there is always access to water somehow. We couldn’t survive without it.
If someone is going down on a plane and don’t have access to water. I would say God knows how to work all of that out, we have to remember he is a judge.
But I do believe that salvation is given to all according to the scripture and everyone is giving a chance. What if in that same scenario, a plane slammed into the side of a mountain without any moments notice, which has happened many times unfortunately, and what if you were not given the chance to say, I accept the Lord Jesus as my savior. What then?
I think if we go into these type of scenarios and try to figure that out, we will get caught up in a tangled web. We must simply obey what the scripture says to salvation.
Every man or woman is given a chance according to the scripture, whether a person takes that chance, or not is up to them.
God is not going to give someone a chance seconds before they slam in to the side of a mountain or go down in a plane. At that point I would say that Chance had already done been given. God and his infinite wisdom knows all of that. According to the scripture We must be born again of the water and the spirit. Hopefully this isn’t taken in a negative way. I don’t want that to sound harsh, just wanting to point out an answer

Thought bubble: Imagine you're trapped in a burning building. The only way out of the building you can get to that doesn't involve you running through fire is a third floor window. Obviously, you don't just jump, because that could kill you. However, through this window via ladder, a firefighter comes to your rescue; he tells you to follow him out the window and onto the ladder in order to be saved from the fire. What do you do:
      1) Tell him that you believe in him and accept him as your way out of the fire, but not actually do anything toward that end? Or 2) Take action and go with him, accepting his help not only in your heart, but in your actions?
When you say "I accept Jesus as my personal lord and savior" and leave it at that, you're essentially doing the first option. You're acknowledging that Jesus is your salvation, and that you'll find salvation in no other being (Acts 4:12). However, you're doing nothing to actually receive that salvation. You can't be saved by acknowledgement alone, as that's not what "grace by faith" means. Faith always involves obedience (Hebrews chapter 11).

You should read the Bible instead of twisting the scripture. You have a reading problem. Matt 28:19 Says NAME singular not titles. All baptisms done by the Apostles were in the name of Jesus. And they re-baptized those that were not baptized in Jesus Name. Acts 19:2-6 KJVS
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. [3] And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. [4] Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. [5] When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. [6] And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Context is very important. These 3 questions will keep you from the heresy of baptism for salvation.
    1. Who is talking?
    2.who are they talking to?
    3. What are they talking about?
Acts 2:38- Peter is preaching a national message to jews in light of the fact that they had just crucified their messiah. Acts 2:38 does not apply to Gentiles.
John 3 has nothing to do with water baptism. It has to do with a physical birth and a spiritual birth.
When Jesus was still walking the earth he himself and the people of that day were still under mosaic law so yes it was correct for Jesus to say you have to do these certain things to be saved. For example Mathew 19:16-17.
Acts is a transitional book. In acts 2 the jews repent, get baptized and receive the gift of the holy spirit. In Acts 10 their were people who received the holy spirit and then got baptized. In acts 19 their are people who received the holy spirit after paul laid his hands on them.
So you can go to anyone of these verses to prove baptism for salvation but you would have to take it out of context and mis apply it in order to do so.
    1 Peter 3:21-says that it is a LIKE-FIGURE.
    Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
I would also like to add as far as the thief on the cross is concerned i have heard this defense from those who preach baptism for salvation- you will first use hebrews 9:27 then you will have to argue that the will of Christ didn’t go into affect after he had died. The logic is that the thief died under the Old Testament and therefore that is why he didn’t have to get baptized, however this is false. If you read John 19:31-33 you will see the thief died AFTER Christ’s death which means he died in the New Testament not in the old.

I don’t mean to be contentious, just sharing my thoughts. If you read the entire chapter of Acts 10 the angel commanded Cornelius to go find Peter. So that Peter would tell him what he had to do to be saved.. Cornelius was the first Gentile to be saved in the New Testament, (please research this) most theologians believe Gentiles weren’t added to the church for 10 years After Resurrection, ascension and the day of be Pentecost. The early church was 100% jews. Also the thief on the cross died prior to the resurrection, ascension and the day of Pentecost when Gods gift of his Holy Spirit was poured out in the upper room in Acts 2. Jesus had power to forgive sins on earth, thus the thief fell under the old covenant.

We can solve this issue once and for all by looking to the author and finisher of our faith. Everything else from Peter and Paul is just in support of what Jesus said.
    1. Did Jesus say baptism in water washes away your sins?
    2. Dis Jesus say baptism in the Holy Spirit is required for salvation?
In short, the answers are no. Repentance is for the unbeliever to become saved, baptism in the Holy Ghost is a gift for someone who was already saved, and baptism in water is a commandment for only believers.
Repentance/confession is what leads to the blood of Jesus covering our sins. When you are free from the curse of sin, you will be saved upon confession.
Now I am totally against seeker friendly 10-second sinner prayers. That’s dangerous territory. But at the end of the day, only repentance is required to be saved.
Then after this, the believer is then qualified to receive baptism into the Holy Ghost and water.

With ALL DUE RESPECT to you and for you, my friend, your thoughts of reasoning here are not in ACCORDance to what our LORD JESUS CHRIST taught and directed the early church apostles/disciples to preach and teach, which they also partook of and obeyed with all their hearts ❤️ & souls. In the Gospel of John, Chapter 3, our LORD JESUS CHRIST teaches/proclaims that ye must be born again (changed/transformed/renewed from a carnal unregenerate state to a regenerated state) of the WATER and the Spirit, so your points 1 & 2 would have to be rendered invalid. Furthermore, again with all due respect for/towards your beliefs, WATER BAPTISM is for sinners because when a sinner genuinely repents of/from his or her sins and is water baptized in the only SAVING NAME of our LORD JESUS CHRIST (like I, & those throughout the book of Acts experienced) this obedient act of faith in his NAME is when, where and how the holy, sinless, sanctifying BLOOD of CHRIST JESUS is applied for the REMISSION & as PROPITIATION for those past sins committed by an individual. Without the application of the SHEDDING of BLOOD, there is NO REMISSION of/from sins. Those sins must be BURIED & WASHED away after they are DIED out to at an altar of repentance. I suggest you read Acts Chapters 2, 8, 10, & 19, as well as Mark 16 & Galatians 3:27. Lastly, the infilling/baptism of the HOLY GHOST 👻 with the evidence of speaking in other tongues is NOT for those who were already saved. I think you are confusing the Gifts of the Spirit, spoken of and about to the church at Corinth, for the receiving of the infilling of the HOLY GHOST as part of the NEW BIRTH plan of salvation, which is the appropriation & application of the death, burial and resurrection of our LORD JESUS CHRIST as the early believers experienced in Acts Chapter 2 on the Day of Pentecost, fulfilling Acts 2:38 completely. As my new birth pastor explained it correctly, you can NOT get or receive any of the Gifts of the Spirit, until you are FIRST BORN AGAIN of the Spirit of Almighty God, & you come into RELATIONSHIP with our Heavenly Father of all spirits, through the Son, who He MANIFESTED Himself within by OBEYING Him. (See John 14:6, Acts 5:32)

@@truthwisdom Again, with ALL DUE RESPECT, what do you think born again of water means in the verse you make reference to that I cited. It most certainly DOESN'T refer to being born of the water from your mother's womb because He clearly states that which is born of the flesh is flesh. I strongly recommend and admonish you to listen to the podcast for our double honorable and highly esteemed reverend David K. Bernard who provides excellent instruction of wisdom & knowledge of sound Biblical doctrine on this topic for it (WATER BAPTISM in the NAME of our LORD JESUS CHRIST) of our New Testament dispensation/covenant is a type and shadow of the Old Testament covenant that God had with Noah, which the apostle Peter alluded to in 1 Peter 3: 20-21. Just as Noah believed God through faith manifested by his obedience to God's Voice as the Word was spoken unto him, we also demonstrate saving faith via obedience when we take on the application of CHRIST JESUS ' blood through having our sins BURIED & WASHED away, for His cleansing, sanctifying, and purifying of own souls 🧠, spirits, consciences and bodies is accomplished within us when His only SAVING NAME is called over us during water baptism. If WATER BAPTISM is not required as part of the NEW BIRTH, as you assert, then why did Philip, as part of the Ethiopian eunuch's CONVERSION, ask Phillip to WATER BAPTIZE him after he had preached unto him JESUS!!! (Acts 8: 31-38) In addition, in Acts 22, apostle Paul, who was formerly Saul of Tarsus, who originally persecuted the church prior to his encounter with our LORD JESUS CHRIST on the Damascus road, reaffirms his CONVERSION, despite his BELIEVING in GOD, & re-accounts it in Acts Chapter 22 & what Ananias did to him to quote "WASH AWAY THY SINS, in verse 16. Lastly, if I recall correctly from your comments earlier, you stated that water baptism was only for believers, but in again in Acts Chapter 8:9-11 Simon wasn't a believer in our LORD JESUS CHRIST but rather a SORCERER, but when he TRULY BELIEVED the Gospel of our LORD JESUS CHRIST preached by Philip, the evangelist, what was he instructed to engage within, acting on his faith in Acts 8:12-17, with EMPHASIS on verses 13 & 16!!!!!!!!!! From just these 3 examples only, (& I didn't even make mention of Acts Chapter 10 (Cornelius' CONVERSION) or Acts Chapter 19 (the CONVERSION of the disciples of John the Baptist encountered by apostle Paul, who did what when Paul questioned them in Acts 19:2 & then instructed them in 19:4? Read Acts 19:5-6 for the answer. Based upon ALL of this Biblical evidence presented here, it sure seems that the Spirit of Almighty God INSPIRED a WHOLE LOT to be STRESSED and COMMANDED regarding WATER BAPTISM throughout the Holy Scriptures, don't you think?

@@travisdory3027 To be honest, I would rather say that I do not understand what John 3:5 means, than to make up my own interpretation. Jesus was not shy, so He had no reason to not mention baptism in this verse. Also, in Acts it never once said that sinners needed to be baptized. Only believers. Believers are saved, unbelievers are not. What is a believer? One who has repented and had their sins forgiven. After baptism, believers then become disciples.

You miss the whole context of the scripture. Why do you equate believing in his name to mean baptism when scripture does not support that? Your hermeneutics to the scripture is off and you do the word of God a disservice. Because you didn’t properly exegete John 3:4, you miss the whole gospel. Being born of the water is not speaking of baptism. Y’all need to stop twisting scripture to fit your narrative. One moment you say we are saved by faith but then you add baptism. Which one is it? Baptism is an outward expression of what was already done in the heart. Jesus Christ is our salvation and salvation is a gift and the only way to get a gift is to ACCEPT IT.

David....is a great teacher but he is really stretching this one. He is all over the place and none of those things proves that anyone who truly confessess and accepts that Christ is their Savior and Lord isn't saved by that faith in that belief ALONE. The only thing that is brought up in these scriptures is that some people truly didn't believe and some did. Not that these things aren't the base of all Salvation

Clearly, faith and believing are the base. If you don't believe and have faith, you won't obey the Gospel.
However, because the concrete slab is the base of my house, it does not mean that my house is completed when the slab is laid. At the same time, I must have the slab, or my house will fall.
Faith and believing are the prerequisite to salvation, not the completion of it.
We must be obedient to the Gospel through faith.
What is the Gospel? 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 1 John 5:8
How do we obey it? Acts 2:37-40; John 7:37-39; Acts 19:2-6
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Salvation is a one-time thing. Sanctification is a lifelong process. If you have legitimate faith in Christ, then you are indwelt with the holy Spirit, and the holy Spirit will produce fruit in your life. I think a lot of people are adding to the cross when they shouldn't be doing that. You're adding works to your salvation, via water baptism etc. and so in your example, It's possible for two Christians to have the same base, but lead different fruit-filled lives. One may have a period of backsliding and grow through a series of circumstances that may test their faith. And they will fail from time to time, but that doesn't mean that they're not Christians. And that way not everybody's walk is the same but that doesn't change what was done on the cross.
I think I do agree with a good portion of what you said though, but in a different way. I do believe works go hand in hand with your sanctification. Meaning that if you are truly of the spirit, then you will do good things. It will work itself out in your life sooner or later, in that way I believe truly in once saved always saved, which is a difficult thing to explain to most people but I think that's what that means in this context. What God began as a good work in you, he will see it through to completion. @@pugnaciousnoobeginnings8997
