Thanks for checking out the video. This is a quick demo and test of the Mercury Propane 5 horse power outboard marine motor. This is a small outboard that runs on propane (or lp) fuel. It will run on a 20lb tank, a 1lb bottle, or anything in between. In this video, I'm running it on a 1lp Coleman Propane Bottle with an adapter. This River Hawk B60 is the perfect little river skiff for my local favorite, the Chattahoochee River.

Very interesting, haven’t seen any propane motors in person

I'm putting it through some tests and breaking it in at the moment. I'll be publishing more on it's performance.

Just ordered one of these, can’t wait to try it out. Keep us updated. I know you need to break it in for 2-10 hours when are you supposed to change the oil for first time?

I have the Tohatsu 5hp propane. First Oil change is at 20 hours.

Get a neoprene tank cover if you run it below freezing in the winter. Or you’ll need to have methanol injected into the tank to prevent freeze ups in intake. Just a heads up

I won't be running it in freezing temps. Just warmer months.

How fast have you gotten it moving I got a 13ft v w same motor and even at full throttle feels like barely moving.

Can you share your real world experiences with your Propane Mercury? How much run time are you getting out of either the 1lb Coleman bottles or a 20lb grill tank? Would you buy another one based on your current experiences?

at full throttle i could imagine maybe 10 min run time. at idle in neutral probably an hour.

I have the Tohatsu 5 hp propane running on a 10 lb propane tank. It's still in break in mode, so it's only been run at full throttle a bit at a time - mostly run at 50-60% until it hits 10 hours. Im up to 8 hours on the 10 lb tank and I'm down to about 45% full. Very efficient motor.
