    Most HT antennas are 50ohm the hd1 is tuned for a 30ohm antenna, on all the related forums its common knowledge that you can't safely use a different antenna on them, with exception to the larger antenna retivis sells for it

    Good relatable video. Nice work. One point on your audio. You really need to lose the noise gate. A little room tone in your audio is way better than losing entire syllables. It's happening a lot.

    Thanks for your honest review, Sean. I wish I had watched this video before buying this unit last week. My motivation for this purchasing this rig was to have an IP67 rated device for digital modes (not DMR) in the field with my CF-20 (YACC, Winlink, fldigi). It was a gamble as I have found no mention of any other ham trying to get audio in/out of this rig. I have a cable strategy planned that I hope will work. On the positive side, the prices have dropped and I picked up a bundle for $150.00 that includes the GPS model, IP67 hand mic, programming cable and extra antenna. 73 de KT1RUN

      Hey man thanks a lot.. I just got the RT 82 from Retevis. I'm going to make a detailed review today and then if you'd like, I could send the radio to you so you could test it out.. if it would help you? The RT82 is 2 ounces lighter than the hd1

    The Ailunce is probably a direct conversion receiver. They do all kinds of weird stuff if there is something strong nearby. I have a Liexen that picks up the NOAA station when the pager service keys up and I'm tuned to the 146mhz area. I think the Yeasu is double conversion.

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  3 года назад

      Thanks for pointing that out. I now have to consider if that was a fair comparison. What do you think? I guess I could always use another direct conversion radio for more accurate comparisons.

    • @yu7xw
      @yu7xw 3 года назад +1

      @@HAMRADIODUDE Yes, good point, most of China made radios are direct conversion receivers based on RDA1846. I think that only monobander series of MD-390 and MD-380 are double super receivers, maybe try to compare with them. I have RT3S and also I will get HD1 in a few days. Why? well, I dont have strong RF sources nearby so I dont have much trouble with direct receivers... Burt, still will use my FT530 ;)

    I have had mine since March 2019. The only complaint I have is that I cannot receive my local 440 analog amateur repeater on 442.375. When I try to monitor this frequency, it sounds like a dead key or open carrier. The same sound you would get if somebody on the other end is holding their mike button down. It only does it on this frequency and none other. My other HTs do not have this issue. Only the Ailunce. I think it has a birdie on this frequency or maybe the CPU Clock ? I don't know. I'm just guessing. I'm a 440 guy and that repeater is the one that I like to hang out on. Just my luck :)

    what I noticed with my HD1 is that it did not have the sensitivy on RX that I was expecting being such a "good" / "not cheap" radio... sometimes I wish could lower somehow the squelch level. Other thing that I dont like is the screen not bright enough under the sun ... other thing, the channel button is not precise nor fast, when changing channels it lags behind the indicated frequency on screen.... well thats what I can remember for now... The thing is you wont find a perfect radio XE2KSL

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  3 года назад +1

      Thank You! In my next video, I'll look into and take these things into consideration / point them out if I can replicate them. When you say there is no squelch level, do you mean you cannot adjust the squelch at all? Maybe my firmware version, but I can adjust the schedule under the A band or B band settings / options. Have a good one.

      @@HAMRADIODUDE if search gd-77 mods can find than via hexadecimal positions on memory can change some parameters, being one of those the squelch level.... once done you can squezze more reception... I understand the hd1 has 0 to 9 squelch levels but for me setting squelch on 1 is sometimes not sensity enough... Well, I could be wrong but would like to see the hd1 more sensitivy, something more "comercial" type radio

      I didn't / haven't really used it much. I feel like it ended up being big and sturdy, but also that becomes bulky and DMR where I am, wasn't getting much use. the emissions thing really set me back. It has a lot of potential as a radio but I think there's probably better radios for DMR out there at the price point

    I have no idea why a DMR radio is being compared with another transmission. And so much time devoted to audio. To me doing a test is like an experiment, one should change just 1 variable and try keeping the rest the same. Most of the statements here are opinions and this is how I feel the title of the published video should say. And finally I think publishing an overview should be preceded by some proper time of actual use of the device, I was under impression it was not the case.

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  3 года назад

      In the last case, you'll be happy to know I do multi part videos on the same radios with different tests. So what you'll see in the future is further tests, to include testing battery capacity, ease of use, and many other tests.
