Awesome 👍 question, does the 12th fret tuning work with all steps of tuning, example if I tuned the thicker strings to an open G, would I be able too tune the higher strings to match the sound using the 12th fret?
Stephen Sanchez It doesn't work _at all_ unless your instrument is perfectly intonated, and you can't rely on that. Use the harmonic at the 12th fret instead, it really is in tune. And he doesn't begin to tell you how to get the 4ths and the 3rd into tune. It isn't easy.
this is great sammy, i ussualy just tune mine a whole step down, it can handle standard but i like it like that
+hunterxbox11 I like a whole step down too sometimes for the fuller sound and it makes the strings give a little more which is easier to play. Thanks for the comment!#guitartuning

@@SammyBones Plus it puts different chords sounds in such a better place. In other words I love the "D" in the E shape for the sound especially when playing with another guitar playing in standard tuning.

+Rob van Lingen Yes, starting with the low E(thickest strings)... D/D - G/G - D/D - G/G - B/B - D/D. The extra 6 strings are simply an octave up on the lower 4 strings, and the B/B and high D/D are simply tuned to the same note, same octave. Thanks for the comment. @@SammyBones I recently bought my first 12 string, which is what led me to this video. I just dropped it off at GC today to have it set up with some lower tension strings and to adjust the action and neck. I would like to keep it in E standard without down tuning and using a capo to play in E. I don’t like the sound of open chords against a capo and in my limited experience playing a 12 string. I feel like the open strings are really essential to the whole 12 string vibe. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to make this guitar more playable and I have a pretty experienced tech working on it. Really excited to get it back, I miss it after only one day…

Audio? Get a lav mic and do the world a favour. You can have bad video but NEVER have BAD AUDIO.
