A recipe for Russian dumplings - dough made of flour and boiling water and salt. Nothing more. Filling - cottage cheese, boiled potatoes and golden-fried onion. All finely chopped together. It is served boiled, and preferably fried in butter and poured with fried onions or cracklings.
It’s amazing but believe it or not, price tags in the stores in Poland are exactly the same as in Canadian stores, the only difference is currency. So if you buy cookies in Canada for 6 dollars in Poland they cost 6 zloty. But with currency exchange you get like a 60% discount in Poland. Like getting those cookies in Canada with %60 discound, about $2. Same goes with wages if you make $2000 Canadian a month going to Poland that gives you about 6000 zloty. But somebody in Poland makes 2000 zloty a month not $$$. So technically in comparison people in Poland make equivalent to what Canadians pay in income taxes out of that $2000 earn about 30%-40%, $600-$800. Thus you gain 3 times more bang for your dollar in Poland. Would be perfect to work in Canada and live in Poland. Now go to anywhere in Western Europe like France for example and you have to pay 30%-40% mark up for whatever you buy, same cookies for $7.80-$8.40 Canadian for one box not three boxes like in Poland. What a rip off, sure Poland doesn’t have an Eiffel Tower but at least your wallet will be in much better shape in Poland. 😋👍
It's not cottage cheese, it's farmer cheese, they look similar but farmer cheese has less moisture. Farmer cheese is available in US. My favorite pierogi is sour kraut (kapusta) with caramelized onions and sauteed mushrooms.
pierogi already indicates plural. Pieróg is singular. Dumplings with strawberries or plums are even better. And the imperial ones are Russian dumplings without onion inside but topped with fried walnuts in butter. those with fruit are customarily eaten whole if not all of them 🐷😆

Watching foreigner's adventures with Polish food I can see only pierogi pierogi and pierogi. Visiting Poland you must check some more dangerous tastes than pierogi. First you have to try is TATAR. Which is made of sour beef meat, with some onion, oil, lots of pepper and salt and should be served cold with bread. And with white vodka stone cold. This kind of meal is taken from Tatar's food habits. As you probably do not know we have some islamic minority of Tatar nation, who live in Poland since XVII century. Tatar's sent their army to help Poland when we suffered from Swedish invasion, and to thank Tatar's warriors Polish king Jan Kazimierz after the war - offered them lands and asked to stay. You must also know that Tatar people are islamic, but not in this way you can see today in other countries. They are really decent, hard working nice people. If you want to meet them and try some other foods they produce you must go to the noth-east part of Poland, to Bialystok town, and from there to the KRUSZYNIANY or BOHONIKI villages, Second is FLAKI. I will not tell how it is made (better for you) but to have real FLAKI you also must go to the east of Poland, because west of BUG river it is served as a soup, which is not right. Third is KISZKA This one is made of potatoes with lot of different addictions roasted and served hot. I do not have to mention that white vodka can be used as well have a good time
