I have had my "problem" vehicle for 10 years and didn't want to give it up because I KNEW it would be a hard to find piece with an easy fix....FINANNLLY... IT WAS FOUND WITH THE HELP OF YOUR VIDEO!.....IT WAS THE FUSE AND FUSIBLE LINK!.... Took awhile for me to get the right piece to work as a substitute but we used a 150 amp with a 32 volt and spliced...basic cut and paste but in a different connection format because we could not find the exact connection for the vehicle so we had to substitute. WORKS GREAT! We thought about using the fusible links from a car stereo system because they work with high amps but we could not find the glass fuse of the 160 voltage in the stores, (you would have to order it or go to a special car audio store), to work with it so we just went with the basic:
Littelfuse Fuse-Mega 32V, 150A, 2 copper end clampings, 2 screws and 2 shrink wraps. We spliced and crimped them....AND WHHHHALLLAAAHHH,.....WORKED LIKE A CHAMPPPP!....

Yeah that link is a real PIA , good job on getting it fixed !!!!
Easier steps are:
move coolant reservoir out of the way,
move power steering reservoir out of the way,
reach down with 15mm wrench from the top of engine bay and loosen tension on the belt and slide belt off of the smooth idler pulley,
remove the 3 15mm engine mount bolts,
disconnect passenger side small ground wire to engine if necessary,
break loose alt bolts and detach its harness and power wire,
slightly lift engine with a floor jack so the engine mount is just floating over the body,
pull engine toward front of car as you bring the alt out through the top between engine and passenger strut tower.
Doing the way I listed, you don’t have to get under the car.
I still like your way too.
And, you saved with door handle drama years ago.

Jamie hi I know a lot about the focus i own a 03 wagon with the 2,3 I have done a lot of alternators the roll restrictor 15mm bolt if you remove it they call it the dog bone motor mount you can then push the motor forward and take out the alt from bottom I always try to go new on a alt

hello! I have a question about a 1997 Chevy Cavalier- it has an automatic transmission. it won't shift into third gear. An auto repair shop told me that it needs a new transmission. What are some other things that I could check to make sure that it isn't something else? I just don't trust car repair places anymore...thanks!
Rebecca, try unhooking your battery for about 10 minutes, hook it back up and see if that changes anything. The other possibility us a speed sensor.
Did you use a 80 amp fuse to replace a 160 amp? I have an 05 focus with the same problem

At 6:37 there is what you called a “post”. It’s red. I saw that mine is fried and burnt and barely hanging on. Is “post” the correct name? And can I change just this or do I need to redo the entire wiring? Thanks!
That post is just a little screw on extension you should be able to get one at an auto parts store just as long as the end going to the red wire is fine you'll be okay just replacing it and the alternator that you're buying may actually have one on it

How is the db alternator holding up, over a year later?
Yeah on the 1 AM fuse views what would happen if it had the 30 amp views instead of one
Yes where it has the 1 AM fuse for the refusable length of the battery and I don't want it to have a 30 I'm using what would be the results of that
It had a 30 Amp in the refusals link instead of a 1amp what kind of problem would that cause. Disregard the other two reply
I got no charging also no battery light

Most important info on any car parts changing video is
1.) What bolts there are
2.) What size head they should be
3.) What wire connectors there are and how they unclip.
And also what year car your working on!!
