A Piece of Cake, Season 2 Episode 25
From The Golden Girls Cookbook by Christopher Styler (pages 50-54)
Stay Golden is bringing The Golden Girls world into our world by living like the girls. Today we are living like Dorothy Zbornak at her birthday part at Mr. Ha Ha's Hot Dog Hacienda. She would also probably punch our heart out at how much we cannot make cheesecake cupcakes, but we tried.
Courtney tries to replicate the recipe in a cooking and do-it-yourself kinda way right in here Brooklyn, and you can too!
If You Threw A Party is not a step by step guide on how exactly to make the cheesecakes, for a complete list of ingredients and the steps taken, see below:
You'll need
9 ounces of graham crackers
1 cup sugar
salt
9 tablespoons of unsalted butter
1 pound of cream cheese
1 1/2 teaspoons of cornstarch
1 egg & 1 egg yolk
1/2 cup sour cream
24 small silicone baking cups
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Crust is made by food processing the graham crackers, and then add in the 1/2 cup sugar and the 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Finely ground. Your 9 tablespoons of butter should be melted and then once cooled, add that in and mix until it all looks like fine sand. Take your mixture and fill your cups, about 2 tablespoons per cup. Then chill.
For the cheesecake portion, preheat your oven to 350. Using a mixer, beat the 1 pound cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons or corn starch until creamy. Then add the eggs in, mix, then the vanilla, mix. Take your mixture and fill your cups. Then turn oven down to 300 and bake immediately for about 35 minutes. Remove and cool. Chill.
Done! Enjoy.

Quote of the Day: “Hands is Nature’s Food Processor.”
Ha
That child who smashed their dessert on Mr. Haha is a child of art of culture.
Kid is living the dream!!
Dorothy's revenge,as she couldn't do it herself, great kid.
I totally forgot about that adorable boy at the end
Hahaha. Thank you. All good. My friend sent me that wit during covid so I thought. This is perfect
I loved the part of the Mr. HAHA episode where the little boy shoves a plate of food in the crown's face, and tells Dorothy he did it for her 🤣🤣🤣
Yesssss
@@StayGoldenGirls I couldn't remember exactly how he let her know that he did it for her, so it was fun watching the scene again 😄
He says happy birthday Dorothy after he does it
But does the book have the recipe for _vanskapkaka??_ I’m asking the important questions here.
It does not. It's more of a realistic cookbook and not things really makes or alluded to in the show.
This is by far my favorite episode for Dorothy's one-liners. "Get bent, Ha Ha!!" Classic!
I need to find this cookbook!
Such a great episode and line.
Haha! Who doesn't like Bobby's birthday present to Dorothy! I think she got her birthday wish after all!😆
The best!
This segment made me laugh. No matter how many times I watch Golden Girls, it will always crack me up somewhere. Btw, is that an air plant hanging in your window?. “Ice cream scoop, I’m regretting things right now” lol Your cupcakes look good. I would try them. My favourite birthday is when I can still spend it with my mom. I love her so much.
🤣🤣🤣
One of your best 👌 I love your videos, it's great to see you 😀 😊
Oh thank you so much for sharing that
I ASPIRED to be that McDonald’s Child although I do remember a Birthday at Pizza Hut. Also, it’s not just not a ‘90s phenomenon. Having a McDonald’s Birthday Party is kind of a status symbol in India.
Oh pizza hut!!!!! I loved pizza hut. I did the Book It program but never the party. If actually would have rathered pizza hut
Hey Courtney!! Missed you and hope that you are doing well.🥰. I sincerely miss all of the Golden Girls.❤. Rose❤Blanche❤Dorothy❤Sophia❤ Forever.
Hello hello!!! I hear you on that. 🫂
Were the cupcakes creamy? Moist? 🧁 😋 Dorothy’s vs rose’s cupcakes 😂
Moist ... But tasteless
@@StayGoldenGirls they looked delicious, actually! And def an A for effort! 👍🏼
My favourite Birthday Parties included a trip to the Water Park and my 20th and 21st birthday where my mother made spicy Chinese food which I love.
Water park action is fun. I'm assuming you have a summer birthday
@@StayGoldenGirls Yes
Ahhh yes. I feel like summer had better birthday options
Apart from the measurement mishap, I think the dessert came out alright. Well done 👏🏽
Oh that's very kind of you. That mishap really affected the taste. Evan had me toss it all
@@StayGoldenGirls Ouch.
One of my favorite scenes from the series. A few of my favorite lines:
"Get bent, Haha!"
"I'll punch your heart out, Haha!"
"Don't prolong this. I know what car you drive, Haha!"
Your cheesecake looks delicious. I would try it. My favorite birthday party was my first one. My sister threw my sweet 16 birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese
Very kind of you. It was horrible tasting.but damn I love chuck e cheese
Binging with Babish could never -
Is thY a food show?
A valiant effort! I would try 1 of these. I might not finish it, but I'd give it a shot like you did and I certainly got a laugh from your mis-cakes :)
I appreciate you.
Wish I was there to help with the cheesecake. They're actually easy to make. If at first you don't succeed, try try again. Mr Ha Ha would be proud of you for all your effort, lol.
Hahaha. I def had to throw it out.
0:58 You do remind me a bit of Kristen Wiig
Why thank you.
Courtney, has anyone noticed your beautiful baking outfit is in Mardi Gras colors?
Gosh I didn't even realize that until you said it
Omg the outfit is giving me the Radical ‘80s Vibe 🔥
Thank you. Random thrift store find. And it has pockets.
@@StayGoldenGirls We Stan Pockets 🔥
It's a bit fascinating to me that the cookbook includes Mr. Haha's cheesecake thingies, while the actual episode sequence featuring the clown should have instead inspired a birthday cake recipe or maybe some kind of fun hot dog melt. Go figure. But I don't own the book, and there might be additional Mr. Haha recipes in it besides this cheesecake one. I can only begin to imagine some of the recipe titles in that book: dishes like Rose's Gonna Stuff a Chicken, Blanche's Tuna Quiche & Healthy Shake Combo, Dorothy's Special Shiitake Mushrooms Frittata, etc. lol....
Your choice in fashion here is something else entirely. I am using all my self control to suppress my gay cattiness, lol, so as not to be hyper critical about it. ;--)
I appreciate you suppressing that urge since it's just a fun video situation.
Yeah it seems the cook book is more into real recipes and so a lot of it are just things that have no place in the show but like. Maybe feels southern or Italian. So there are no other ha ha items. Or sadly anything you listed that may be funny from the show. There are chicken dishes but like. Normal ones.
@@StayGoldenGirls Gotcha. :)
i would eat your mr haha's any day! Just make sure you chill it first 🥰
Yeaaah. It didn't occur to me you had to do that. Even though it def said that in instructions ....
Well maybe it didn't turn out like it was supposed to, but at least you tried.
Thank you! I did try
Sometimes I would alter from following the directions
You are likely a better cook than me and half those skills 😜
@@StayGoldenGirls I'm still learning myself
😃
My first comment
Lies, you've commented before!
@@lnteIIigence my first comment on this video, not the channel
Did you mean to just type the word "First" ... like the kids today do when they are the first comment posted on a new video?
I dig it
@@StayGoldenGirls Urgh, thanks for deliberately not hearting my comment. Gee, I was really mean and horrible.
As an amateur baker, this was very hard to watch haha. I said "Oh, honey" so many times. As a Golden Girls fan, this was great. :D Also VERY curious about what you're wearing haha.
Hahaha. The color jacket thing was a thrift store find. If there is a spot below amateur baker that's me
Ok I need to know were to get that cookbook because the golden girls are my favorite show I love them dearly and i love cooking love your vids by the way
I got it as a Christmas gift but you can find it online
Embarrassing birthday story: my grandpa gave me a pair of antique civil war handcuffs and told me there was no key and I ignored it and still managed to get stuck in the handcuff on one hand,he had to use a hammer and a flathead screwdriver to get me out of them, I was 15 years old
Oh damn. That is funny
I'm glad that kid Gave Dorothy a present by getting revenge for her
💜💜
I want to try to create rose’s sperhoeven krispies
Ohh I tried that in the first video. It didn't go that well tbh
Yeah I had at least 1 if not 2 birthdays at McDs
I love it
Hello Courtney and crew.
As others commented at least you tried. I applaud you. I need to let you borrow my food processor and hand mixer. Heh
These do remind me of “fat bombs,” my aunt would cook when she was on her low carbohydrate diet.
Removing the Graham crackers of course.
I remember she made them for the first time and they became burnt and the deepest black I had ever seen. She accidentally broiled them instead of baking them. Heh.
Worst birthday was probably the birthday I graduated from high school, I wanted a graduation party/birthday party as most of my family lives out of state, no one came. At least there was my mom and dad several aunts and a family friend was there. 🤷♂️
I definitely never had a McDonald’s birthday. I wish I did as they seem awesome.
You might of needed 2 blocks of cream cheese, I think if my culinary math is correct. One block is a 8oz or a cup and 16oz is a pound.
Great video and practice makes perfect! One day you will master it. I have faith in you. That is if you attempt it again. Be well and as always #staygolden
Ohhhh dang. Broiling instead! RIP to those indeed. I'm sorry to hear a out your worst birthday, that I'd disappointing for you.
Yeah I just assumed one block was a pound which ...my mistake for sure. but now I'm like damn that's a lot of cream cheese then!
@@StayGoldenGirls she still laughs about it so maybe it helps her cope.
The smell was awful. She put peanut butter inside too.
No worries it was disappointing, but at least it’s been sometime ago.
Indeed! Regular cheesecake requires 4 or more! Really rich, but oh so delicious.

@@StayGoldenGirls thank you for the lovely hearted logo. I fell asleep watching the golden girls on my iPhone. I sent the number 6 by mistake. Lol. Here's my actual text. Thank you for the effort you put in to producing these wonderful golden girls episodes. I'm sure many people watch and don't realise the effort that goes into producing these videos so they can enjoy watching. Good job 👍
My favorite part of this episode is when the kid smashes a piece of cake in ha ha’s face and wishes Dorothy a happy birthday!
Yesss
@@StayGoldenGirls I forgot to tell you- I got that cookbook for my birthday. I think it was two years ago now. I haven’t made anything from it yet. I need to! But it’s fun just to look through
I hope you did get to make something eventually!
@@StayGoldenGirls yes and no. The Swedish meatball recipe inspired me to make meatballs, but I didn’t make that particular recipe. I I like to have a cooking project though -at least once in a while- so I should pick a particular recipe from the book.
I feel stupid- I only tonight just realized your entire channel is dedicated to the Golden Girls! Somehow the video of the cheesecake ended up in my RUclips recommendations, but it was my own grave mistake that I didn’t think to check out the rest of the videos. Earlier, I watched the one of the Golden girls convention- that’s amazing and I so wish I could’ve been there! A couple of years ago I read about the Golden girls cruise (wonder if you’ve heard of it?) if it wasn’t for me wondering who would care for my cat while I was gone , I probably would’ve bought a ticket on the spot.
I have heard about the cruise but I was unable to go. That's cool you were able to. The convention is actually happening this year again in a few days in Chicago
