Seeing someone new play Undertale for the first time. Wow, listening to the beginning theme of Undertale filled me with so much nostalgia, considering that the game released back in 2015, which was 7 years ago. I first watched Jacksepticeye play this, and ever since I finished his playthrough of the game, I fell in love with the characters and story of the game. Even though the fandom might be.. an interesting case, the game and its subsequent sequel, Deltarune, will always be hold a special place in my heart. It’s time to rewatch an ancient gem once more.
An ancient gem indeed. As someone who played his first blind run in 2020, I can without a doubt say that this game is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! First indie game I've ever played, and one thing's sure, the game is SO MUCH DIFFERENT than the fanmade content, which was a huge surprise for me that only added more excitement. SPOILER AHEAD! SPOILER SPOILER DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THE WHOLE GAME When I first encountered Omega Flowey, I got so scared I broke the game that I frantically closed the app and just stared at my screen, covering my mouth, eyes wide 😭

NOT a spoiler (don't come at me) Just wanted to point out that if you did something you regret RELOADING is an absolutely valid option. Yes a full-blind-first-try playthrough is neat, however redoing some things is also a part of the experience. Plue you might find something interesting when revisiting sections. Tho of course it's completely up to you. If things go wrong you can always RESET, right? So don't worry too much about messing up.

Everyone is talking about this is the first time in a while seeing a blind playthrough of undertale. While im here thinking that his papyrus voice is gold.
I have a tip! Examine things and talk to more people, they give you hints on what to do, and have lore in them! If you explored enough, there might have been advice on what to do about Toriel. There was also some backstory/lore you missed. So bookshelves, any monsters in the area, and plaques on the wall are things you definitely want to examine/talk to. Theres a lot of charming dialogue and flavor text in the game, and the game rewards exploration! Anyways, it's okay if you do a neutral route at first, there's a lot can be gained from them too! I do recommend going back and trying to play pacifist, though, after you finish your route, because a lot of lore drops happen in the pacifist route, and only the pacifist route! And after that, you can decide to do the genocide route or not-don't let people pressure you into playing it if you don't want to! There is more lore dropped, but it also alters your game forever. I will say, if you do the genocide route, you should do the pacifist before it, since there's a lot of stuff that probably wouldn't make sense without the context of the pacifist route! And remember, if you mess up, you can always load a save. (Just exit the game without saving and reenter it, I think?) Those are all my tips I have without spoiling, I hope you have fun and enjoy!

It's really cool to see ngl. (Ya missed like...three rooms in the Ruins but if ya do another playthough, it's fine lol) 2. Backtracking a room or two can also give you extra things, sometimes silly sometimes lore, it depends! Keep an eye out though for...something- 3. Checking mosters in the ACT menu sometimes gives you tips on how to deal with them!! It's really useful lol. Fleeing is an option, but ACTing first will usually give more gold 4. Check your menu man lol. Check the info for armor/weapons outside battle bc sometimes they have an extra benefit (more HP, speed, etc) if equiped. (Bonus tip: you got a cellphone, use it-) 5. Reloading is always a valid option at any point! It might even get you some secret easter eggs ;) Resetting is only if you truly want to start from stratch again, but I'd recommend seeing this route thorugh first. Being neutral in this game is so underrated- 6. Play however you want! Part of this game's charm is how highly reactive it is to the player's choices. It has good replayability too in case you wanna change your playstyle! (Especially the two extremes of the stectrum, those change VASTLY) Anyways, that's it for now! Yea the only thing i can say is pay good attention to things u might think that sound or seem important. They give u good amount hints. This is not the average rpg mah boy
(Spoiler-free) Don't be too worried about killing Toriel. It's impossible to get the true pasifist ending on a first playthrough anyways, because of certain event flags in the neutral ending that are required for it. Just keep playing however you prefer, and don't sweat trying to do a specific route: You're already locked into one. Also, you initially mistaking Toriel for Ralsei is hilarious. To be fair, easy mistake to make. Most people would probably make the same mistake if they had the same limited knowledge of Undertale and Deltarune. You asked about when this game was set, and... it's actually not clear. We only have one clearly defined point on the timeline, and it was an approximate date shown in the intro section right after it spoke about the war between humans and monsters. It's definitely at some point in the future, we just don't know how far in the future.
Fun fact: if there is a monster whose name color is yellow, it can be spared, but if you want to spare the one whose name color is white, choose act and try to choose one of the options until the name becomes yellow, then you can spare it. But if you want to get the true Pacifist ending, you have to do the neutral ending first, how to get the neutral ending, you have to kill some monsters but let some of the monsters live. So when you finish defeating the boss (don't want to tell the name of the boss, cuz i don't want to spoiler it) later we will return to the menu, then there is the option of reset and continue, now we choose continue, don't reset, later if we continue, we will play again until it's finished without killing monsters,and then we can get the true Pacifist ending. If you want to get the genocide ending, you have to kill all the monsters. I hope this helps (sorry if my english is bad)

Mikeey so theres alternate endings into this game you can choose between the Genocide route which pretty much killing monsters by gaining LV or you can choose the pacifist route were you can spare the monsters
TIPS AND NOT SPOILERS: your downside is that you don't explore your options you can spare toriel just explore your options.yiu need to improvise outside of the fight button if your going to go pacifist also pay attention to what your enemy says during your fight as they give you hints on what you need to do to spare them. Try and interact with things as they might unlock/give you something just remember if you want to do pacifist do anything but kill however play as you wish that's how you get the best experience

I've played this game my man and GOD do i want to say something SO BAD!!! But this is your gameplay experience so i'm not gonna ruin it for you.The only thing i can say is get ready for the 4th wall XD
make sure you press z on every object and character. pretty much everything in the game is interactable. you'll sometimes get extra dialog if you press z more then once as well. press c to open the menu, you can use your phone there and equip armor and weapons. selecting *check in the act menu during a fight will sometimes give you a hint about the enemy. the game is very meta and takes the thought process of the player into account. if you think something might happen if you do a specific thing, chances are it probably will. there is a ton of hidden things in undertale that most players end up missing so make sure to check out everything you can and dont worry too much about "messing up". there is no "right" way to play this game. its much more entertaining watching someone play this naturally. thats why us old fans always flock to watch newcomers to the series. you guys dont follow any script

If you wanna keep going it’s gonna be the neutral run, which isn’t bad at all, it’s actually recommended that you do Neutral first, then Pacifist (aka staying away from the fight button), and then Genocide (only using the fight button and killing everything in every area)

Don't be too worried about killing Toriel. It's impossible to get the true pasifist ending on a first playthrough anyways, because of certain event flags in the neutral ending that are required for it. Just keep playing however you prefer, and don't sweat trying to do a specific route: You're already locked into one.
Also, you initially mistaking Toriel for Ralsei is hilarious. To be fair, easy mistake to make. Most people would probably make the same mistake if they had the same limited knowledge of Undertale and Deltarune.
You asked about when this game was set, and... it's actually not clear. We only have one clearly defined point on the timeline, and it was an approximate date shown in the intro section right after it spoke about the war between humans and monsters. It's definitely at some point in the future, we just don't know how far in the future.
Fun fact: if there is a monster whose name color is yellow, it can be spared, but if you want to spare the one whose name color is white, choose act and try to choose one of the options until the name becomes yellow, then you can spare it.
But if you want to get the true Pacifist ending, you have to do the neutral ending first, how to get the neutral ending, you have to kill some monsters but let some of the monsters live.
So when you finish defeating the boss (don't want to tell the name of the boss, cuz i don't want to spoiler it) later we will return to the menu, then there is the option of reset and continue, now we choose continue, don't reset, later if we continue, we will play again until it's finished without killing monsters,and then we can get the true Pacifist ending.
If you want to get the genocide ending, you have to kill all the monsters.

you can choose between the Genocide route which pretty much killing monsters by gaining LV or you can choose the pacifist route were you can spare the monsters
TIPS AND NOT SPOILERS: your downside is that you don't explore your options you can spare toriel just explore your options.yiu need to improvise outside of the fight button if your going to go pacifist also pay attention to what your enemy says during your fight as they give you hints on what you need to do to spare them. Try and interact with things as they might unlock/give you something just remember if you want to do pacifist do anything but kill however play as you wish that's how you get the best experience
mikeeey, just in case you want to change your route up, just know that pacifist is where u dont attack anyone, genocide is where you kill everyone, and neutral is where you kill and spare whoever u want

make sure you press z on every object and character. pretty much everything in the game is interactable. you'll sometimes get extra dialog if you press z more then once as well.
press c to open the menu, you can use your phone there and equip armor and weapons. selecting *check in the act menu during a fight will sometimes give you a hint about the enemy.
the game is very meta and takes the thought process of the player into account. if you think something might happen if you do a specific thing, chances are it probably will. there is a ton of hidden things in undertale that most players end up missing so make sure to check out everything you can
and dont worry too much about "messing up". there is no "right" way to play this game. its much more entertaining watching someone play this naturally. thats why us old fans always flock to watch newcomers to the series. you guys dont follow any script

Yeah that last save pretty much butchered the pacifist run lol. If you wanna keep going it’s gonna be the neutral run, which isn’t bad at all, it’s actually recommended that you do Neutral first, then Pacifist (aka staying away from the fight button), and then Genocide (only using the fight button and killing everything in every area)
