This game is a delight. You're making the right decision to not read the comments until after you've finished. People get really weird about wanting you to play the game in a specific way.
I think it’s less that than it is knowing that not doing it that way means you have to do a full replay to get a particular ending, so people get aggressive to “help” the streamer to not have to do the extra work.

And in being weird about it, they basically ruined the game before I had a chance to try it. Sure, I can play it. But should I try to pretend I don't know the gimmick and just flip coins? Or should I go for one of the specific endings? Or should I just not bother and watch Symbalily play it? Hint: I'll do that last one. PS, imagine Outer Wilds community behaving like Undertale community? No-one would ever buy or play the game cause it'd have been ruined completely as soon as you hear about its existence. Luckily they don't and we get people going in blind and recording their wildly differing experiences and it's beautiful!

I mean, sure some might, but the overall reputation of that community is that they will get aggressive and even go as far as threatening the streamer/content creator if they don't "play it right." I've seen more than one content creator that basically said, "I might play it on my own time, but I'm not making a video of it if I do, it's not worth it." Those "fans" are essentially ruining the sales of the game they are claiming to love. It's baffling to be honest.
Always remember that there is no wrong way to play Undertale. The whole point of the game is to have an experience that's unique to you. No matter how people might froth and foam at the mouth for it to be played "The right way."
tbh I tried playing "the right way" because I just knew there were 2 intended ways to play the game. guess what, I still failed and didn't meet all requisites, had to go back and complete "the first right way"

I came here to make this exact comment. I've watched a couple playthroughs of Undertale, but Amber IMO has the perfect personality and disposition for it. One thing I love is that (so far) she is CHECKing all the monsters; the last person I saw play this went straight to trying different ACT options, you miss so much if you don't CHECK them first.

I think undertale fans have calmed down in the later years but then every now and again I’ll see one intense comment that’s a blast back to 2015 Anyway I feel like many people, myself included, are just scrambling hungrily for blind reactions since it’s very rare that people on the internet today don’t know anything about undertale at all

I finally came around to playing Undertale for the first time in 2020 during the pandemic. It ended up being one of the highlights of the year for me - game is just a masterpiece and a delight.
If you haven't yet, I seriously recommend you check out the Undertale Yellow fan game that came out recently. It's basically meant to be an Undertale prequel and is genuinely amazing. It has all the same character and charm that Undertale did while telling its own stories and not relying on using the characters from Undertale.
I couldn't be happier to see you start a new playthrough! It might be a good idea indeed to stay away from the comments, if not for the possible hate, for the spoilers. It's a game that needs to be played blind. You got this!
It is mind boggling to me that people could be mean to Amber. She always comes across as so genuine and kind, and above and beyond that always delivers great LPs that are consistently thoughtful and well considered; a byproduct of being a game dev, I imagine. I've watched a LOT of people play Undertale over the years, and you are the only one of them to actually pay attention to the spiked floor puzzle during the tuToriel, and ACTUALLY SOLVE IT before seeing the solution (even though goat mom doesn't let you solve it, you did figure it out, which is insane). Bravo, truly bravo!
She was also pretty good at noticing stuff in hollow knight- which is a game that a lot of people don't pay attention to the story of- so I'm not surprised

I adore the Outer Wilds. I played it recently and it instantly became one of my favorite games ever. One of very few that was able to bring me close to tears.
(I'm still trying to get through the DLC tho. It's honestly kinda terrifying and keeps making me not wanna go back but my desire to know more forces me back every time lol.)

OMG you're playing Undertale! You are in for a treat! This game is so much fun. It really pulls you into it's world. The characters are a delight, the music is astounding, the story is compelling, and there is just so much to discover. If you go the evil route, it gets really creepy really fast! This type of game is best experienced without knowing anything about it. Just play it your way and have fun. You'll figure it out the way that you're supposed to. If you want to discover more and see different endings, then you can play it over again. Oh and yes; Do avoid the comments until you are finished. Undertale fans can be a bit... Much.

Even if I don’t comment every video I’m cheering you on for this. I played this once and got quite far, but I stopped playing. That computer broke later so I never went back. I’m happy to watch this playthrough though.
Thinking about it. She probably asks you to never come back, so if you die, she won't know. She can continue believing you're still alive. Where as, if she didn't tell you to never come back; if you die, she would know because you never came back.
Undertale is such a great game, play it how you want and don't let anyone bully you about how you go about it. Playing it blind is definitely for the best. I know you won't see this for quite a while, but I hope that you really enjoy it. I think it'll be right up your alley.

Where as, if she didn't tell you to never come back; if you die, she would know because you never came back.

Undertale is such a great game, play it how you want and don't let anyone bully you about how you go about it. Playing it blind is definitely for the best. I know you won't see this for quite a while, but I hope that you really enjoy it. I think it'll be right up your alley.
