why not??? The Persian Carpet Flatworm is part of a sub-group called the Turbellaria which is a part of a group called the Platyhelminthes AKA “Flatworms”. This parasitic group is believed to share a common ancestor and it is also believed that they evolved extremely early in evolutionary history. The Persian Carpet flatworm was discovered by Latocestidae Laidlaw, in 1903 unfortunately I couldn’t find any images of them. The anatomy of The Persian Carpet Flatworm consists of Ganglia (kind of like brain cells), eyespots for detecting light, a gastrovascular cavity, a pharynx, a mouth, and ventral nerve cords, the pharynx is interesting due to it having digestive juices that come directly out of the pharynx onto their food which is then digested and sucked back into the pharynx where it is digested. The Persian Carpet Flatworm eats ascidians and if they are small enough they can also eat some crustaceans. Since they are flatworms they have 2 groins and will use them to fence with other flatworms in order to inject sperm while simultaneously avoiding being stabbed the loser of the fencing has to fertilize the eggs. The Persian Carpet flatworm is fast and undulates to swim. They usually grow around 8-10 cm and are usually brown or black, with pink lines and yellow spots. The Persian Carpet Flatworm can be found in a lot of places such as Indonesia, Kenya, Australia, Thailand, and The Philippines. They are usually found living in coral rubble, coastal bays, and lagoons.
