  • Here's a few links for my favorite credit cards. I try to check the links often, but let me know if there is a problem. If they change the offer on the card, I may need to update the link. Full disclosure, I get a few airline miles for referring a new customer. You should get the same public offer at no additional cost. Thank you very much.

If you enjoy checking out Bangkok and other SE Asia spots, consider subscribing. I'll continue to make videos showing the streets in Bangkok and beyond. Thailand is amazing and a great place to visit, work or retire. I'll do my best to show you how to live affordably in SE Asia. Plus, enjoy some great side trips from Bangkok.

I moved to ari now and hardly go anywhere now. So many hidden bars and cafes etc around

Ari has some great spots. I remember 10 years ago, all the cool people moved to Ari. The area is still cool, but the new "Brooklyn of Bangkok" seems to be Thonburi. Both areas are very cool. I really like Ari

Had to ride from BTS Nana to BTS 11th Infantry regiment last Friday, then took a Grab from there to the Immigration Division 1. Quite a journey.

Yes, I usually take the mrt to Bang Sue, and then the red line comes within a mile of immigration. I think the new brown line goes even closer. Or I just take a 400b Grab from Phrom Phong. Hope immigration went smoothly. It's always good to finish that

I looked at a condo in noble red a few years ago, 56 square meters with a terrace almost as big as the condo, but I thought it was too expensive (25,000 baht a month)

That does sound high, but everything is a negotiation. My 52m in Phrom Phong was listed at 22k. I got it for 19k. Small balcony, but in the middle of the city. Sanam Pao is a ways out for me. A large balcony would be nice though

You pay for convenience and nice rich areas, the red is 2 minute walk to bts, most are over 30000 now here

The United States has New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, which are more modern cities than Bangkok. The beaches in Miami and Hawaii are more beautiful than Pattaya and Phuket, Am I right?

Bangkok is not far behind any city I've ever been in in the US or any part of the world. I lived in California for 50 years. There's a reason I call Bangkok home. For me, this is the best city in the world. You'll have to decide what is best for you. As far as modern, Bangkok has everything any city you listed. But at 50% or less cost on many items like housing and food. My kid lives in New York City. His rent is 5k. No thanks, New York. I remember when an appointment in NYC was 500 bucks. If its more modern to pay 5k instead of 500 here on Bangkok, I hope Bangkok never gets more modern

So - can you tell us what the situation of motorbike thefts and car thefts in Bangkok and in Thailand as a whole? If I relocate to Thailand I would like to ride a motorbike and/or a compact car to get around.

Very little crime in Bangkok. Most people even my local friends with cars, avoid driving in BKK. Too much traffic and bad parking. The subway, train and ride-share is just to cheap to bother with a car. It's like owning a car in New York City. Way more hassle than it's worth. Even hiring a car to go a 100 miles is $30. I've driven everyday since 1983, but I'll pass on driving in this crazy city. Get in accident with a Thai citizen, it will 100% be your fault. And it will cost dearly.

@@EagerExpat Thanks Joe 👍! I asked because I have been to East Laos, and there if you don’t watch your bike for a few minutes it will be stolen. Yes, I will learn to use BTS and MRT but it seems there are areas in BKK that public transportation does not reach. And I always like to bike around. After watching many BKK videos I think I can mince with Thai locals safely in the streets 😇.

@@khoinguyen-wz9ww No, it's not bad in Bangkok. My friend rides a large motorcycle. She would ride somewhere and park her bike out front. We would then run around to two or three more places by taxi. It was always waiting for here when she got back. Of course Bangkok is a big city. So, you'll always have petty crime. Get some insurance, just in case. But, you'll probably never need it.

For years I stayed at Abloom whenever I was in Bangkok. I was very happy there. Hungry Brown was the restaurant in the second Abloom tower. Maybe the sign on Paholyothin by the BTS marks the shortcut back to Abloom? I hadn't noticed the Arabica coffee shop: Thanks.

That army hospital you mentioned which is near the Victory monument is probably the one on Ratchawithi soi 2, it used to be the army radio station but they converted it into a hospital.
