    Super interesting! Thanks for the videos. I just put in H&R coilovers, new control arms, and sway bar end links and have a noise that sounds like it's coming from front right. I know the previous owner put a new head unit in the car. I'm going to pull that out tomorrow and see if that fixes my issue. Thank you!

      Mine was just dumb lucknit was the head unit. When you say control arm are you including the links too(tuning forks)?

      @@KevinsEuropeanGarage Found the issue today. I took the front right wheel off and started banging around with a rubber mallet. The inner tie rod was making a racket! Got some new ones on the way, I've heard it's not a fun job. Thanks!

      It isn’t too bad I have a video on it. Best to pick up an inner tie rod tool, makes the job much easier.

    Oh man - I know that feeling all too well of spending too much time turning wrenches and not enough time turning the key.
    So glad you ended up stumbling onto the actual source of the rattle!
    Now get out and put on some well deserved miles!

    Thanks for the tutorial Kevin. I cant count the times I did the exact same thing when I owned my 73 Mercedes 450 SLC. Go to replace a part only to discover the part was fine. I learned to go ahead and replace the part. That way I knew exactly when that part was replaced, and was able to keep a better log of parts and repairs done. Just a thought. I hate to replace the same part twice. :)

      There is something else that want for the dealer that would benefit the car more. On of my chain tensioners rattles on startup. I’m going to get all new ones.

    Nice video, however I would have installed the new sending unit the reason being that the electrical part is what usually fails on sending units. On my 997.1 the fuel level varies while driving along with a message that there is an electrical issue, then the fuel level returns to normal and the message goes away. If you’re already there with the correct factory part in hand on a 20 year old part I would have replaced it and been done with it. Thanks for the video.

    I have the exact same rattle noise after a full suspension refresh. Also I hear the fuel pump making noises after is quite hot so I most likely will need this replaced soon.

    Rattling could be front sway bar bushings. Have you tried that as well?

    • @KevinsEuropeanGarage

    Thanks for sharing Kevin, sorry you haven’t identified the root cause (maybe you have). Get out there and enjoy the 996. I highly recommend you look into a Fister sport exhaust if you haven’t already 😎

      It’s that radio for sure the more I drive the quieter it is. I am looking at an exhaust. I have muffler bypass pipes I’m gonna try just for fun they are too loud to leave on permanently. A fister style mod is something I might do.

    Kevin- recently replaced my fuel pump. Tank was dead at half full when I did it. Replaced everything and drove around some then went and filled up. Fuel gauge is only reading half full now but its got a full tank of gas. Did you have to recalibrate the sending unit when did this? From the looks of it should be plug and play and no recalibration. Cant seem to figure out what my issue is. I'm pretty positive I put the sending unit back in right and its not hung up on anything.

    • @KevinsEuropeanGarage
      @KevinsEuropeanGarage  2 года назад +1

      Probably got the floater arm stuck on one of those plastic hoses it is not that hard to do. I accidentally pushed that flapper thats attached to the fill tube into the tube. When I went to get gas it took forever to fill up. I would drive it a while to get the gas down or siphon some out. Try it with less than a half a tank. So you can see what your doing when you put the pump back in. I usually get it settled partially in there and then give everything a last check before putting all the way down. Good luck!

      @@KevinsEuropeanGarage took it apart again and it was caught on one of the fuel pump hoses. Reconfigured and got it reading right now. Appreciate your help and your videos!
