Imagine being an ace detective and crafting the perfect plot, only to be screwed over by pancakes lmao.
Yep
Master plan foiled by a frying pan
Well to be perfectly honest, Akechi might be smart, but Joker is a trickster.
I thought they explain in game that the only thing Akechi is really known for are all the mental shutdown cases, which were staged for him to solve?
@@darkutopia2711 actually yeah, you're right. Forgot about that lol
This whole sequence was a thing of beauty. The heroes didn't just mislead the enemy - they misled the PLAYER, too.
Except the ones who put the pieces that need to be their at the time needed
The scene where the plot twist isn't "Akechi was the traitor" because honestly, everyone saw that coming a mile away. Instead, the game made us THINK that was the plot twist, and then hit us with this perfect moment. I was so hyped when I saw that!
@@maaxorus It's even better if you know Akechi its the traitor because they just make you feel like "okay, I wasn't playing the game, THE GAME WAS PLAYING ME"
Not really. I knew that they wouldn't kill off the MAIN CHARACTER in a game. (Maybe if you fucked up.)
Technically the heroes didn’t mislead us. Throughout the game they were having conversations about Akechi. It’s really the game that mislead us because it intentionally cuts those scenes out for the sake of a plot twist.
What made the twist so amazing is that it wasnt about Akechi being the traitor, that was obvious. It was that your party knew the entire time.
it was really the faked death and the entire plan
He was on the cover, but not in the opening animation nor the collector's edition box. I figured it out the moment I saw the dang opening part of the game
When I played I thought the twist was Akechi wasn't a traitor because it was so obvious I thought it was Makoto trying to save Sae or something
Everyone knew who the traitor was, so did we. Except that we didn't know if everyone else knew as well
See I thought it was sloppy writing and the whole way through I thought "this guy's clearly a traitor." But when this scene played out I realised the bait and switch. It's genius that the twist isn't that Akechi betrayed you, *it's that you were one step ahead the entire time.*
The only moment in the game where you question yourself "Wait did I F*ck up" then you see Ryuji's smile and be like "Nevermind"
Ryuji's smirk made me think I messed up lol
FinalfantasyPeaseants watchers were fucking with him all tje time posting bad ending when anything that seemed like one happened.
@Midoras Diabano Same! But I was so goddamn confused at this point xD
Ryuji's smile made me think for a second he was the traitor haha
Theres another time where i thought i got a bad ending..when the shibuya fused with the mementos 😂
Remember: The Joker ALWAYS has the last laugh.
sadly, he did'nt laugh at God when he shot him, prob because he did'nt find God's prank to be all that good
he's a bloody trickster, that's why!
Idk he had that smirk shooting god ya boi through the heart
Unless you have a 3 of spades.
Then he goes “oh god oh f**k get that away from me!”
"oh, you're a villain alright, just not a super one." that's basically the main characters face when he smirks.
*PRESENTATION!*
Oh my god I love that, Joker is so cocky and sassy he would probably say that
I don’t know why, but it’s hilarious to me how blunt Igor is.
“It would seem as though you have been *killed* “
But why were you killed?
because we needed that Perosna 3 reference
people die if they are killed
It *seems.*
‘Igor’
The fact that Ryuji was the one who said, "we got 'em" shows his confidence in his best friend that he can execute this plan flawlessly. Just shows how deep their friendship is ever since the Kamoshida incident. He knows Akira and he trusts his skill since he knows him far longer than any of the other thieves. It's a nice touch actually. Akira and Ryuji are bros for life!
When ryuji smirked my heart sunk because I thought he betrayed me lmao
Finn Campbell bro same. I thought everyone was against me lol
@@finncampbell6524 me too lmao. To the point that I almost hated the game 🤣
Ryuji knew Ann longer than Akira but he is the homie
@@SubToTGL Yeah but he said the one closest to joker not to eachother. And even than didnt Ryuji say they didn’t talk much.
Me: Ladies and Gentlemen...
Ryuji: We got 'em!
Love's so hard to find.
That's literally what I was thinking when I first saw this scene, lol.
4:08
Everyone liking this comment are obviously men of culture.
*When the game itself throws a Last Surprise cue at literally everyone involved, even the Player.*
You'll nEVER SEE IT COMIIIIIIING
I mean the song literally is like "you think you got your game found out, but I'm always 2 steps ahead"
At first, I thought Ryuiji was in Akechi's side when he smiled and said "we got em" i was like "WHAT!? RYUJI WAS THE TRUE CULRPIT!?" 😂
Midoras Diabano that would of been the biggest plot twist! but yeah, if they make one, i would be interested in reading. I would say he is with Akechi because Ryuji felt like he needed to be the leader of the phantom thieves and was tired and being looked as a complete moron by the other members (especially Mona) and maybe Akechi made him alittle psychotic by putting desires and manipulation in his head idk
@Midoras Diabano I want a fan made scenario, or official interpretation on if Joker DID actually die, and how, if at all, they would be able to turn it around.
I also thought that was what happened at first.
@@finalthief4894 Honestly if ryuji was helping the true culprit and you had to play as another party members after the mc dies it would of been one of the best plot twists in rpg's of all time because no one would of seen in coming
@@arkanol right!? I do wonder where the story would of gone from there tho!
The little cocky smug Smirk at the end by Ren/Akira/Whatever you named him was always the best part.
Yeah, I can't wait to see what happens with Whatever in P5.
I flipped out when I saw it for the first time. I was crushed when I thought Joker had actually died, and then utterly confused throughout the memory stuff... and then I had a positively wicked, huge smile on my face.
Ryuji is also up there. That's really the moment you go from "oh shit did I get the bad ending?" to HOLY SHIT THIS IS A MASTERPIECE
Chair-kun
I think in the anime they make it more badass and make it so when akechi walks away from interrogation room when the episode ends you see joker say "yeah right" for like a second and then the episode ends.
One of my favorite moments of this montage was when the lady who ran the shoe store greeted Ryuji so warmly. It was nice to know that he had someone looking out for him even just a little bit before he met the Phantom Thieves.
She seemed like such a sweet lady. Kinda wish we got to see her in a level of Ryuji's confidant. It's nothing too big, though.
That's his mom tho, I think
@@ferox850 Nah, the lady's dialogue implies she hasn't seen him in a while. Ryuji, on the other hand, still sees his Mom rather frequently. Also, his Mom would definitely know whether or not he's still doing track.
@@Ghostguy693 true.
Kinda just went over my head my first time lmao
@@ferox850 It's okay, lol.
“Oh. Oh! Oh! Oh Akira! You had me going, laddie!” Lovely
I love him, he's earned my sub!
The smirks on Ryuji and Ren/Akira's faces are amazing, that's when you know that we're doing at least one step ahead.
I think that's in the lyrics of Last Surprise
Gotta love how every single person reacts to Sugimura with absolute disgust
I'm still a little disappointed that he's not a Mementos boss in Haru's confidant.
He's an absolute shitter
They should’ve changed has heart instead of Okumura’s
I mean he literally tried to rape Haru of course people hate him
to quote Ryuji about this whole twist: "we got 'em"
INEEDJOURHALP!!!
I remember my first play through I was HYPED asf when Joker smiled
I was jumping out of my chair and yelling real story lol
Scuppy 225 who didnt? lmao well played atlus
I was like "WE DID IT BOOOOIIIIIIISSS!!!!!!"
When ryuji said we got em It clicked inside of me. I understood everything and went up and screamed.
Also, free advice: never try to trick a Trickster. They'll drag you down to their level and kick your ass with experience.
With a grappling hook no less!
Before Ryuji's smile: Did I pick the bad ending?😭😭😭
After Ryuji's smile:WTF?!?!?!?!😲😲😲
For a moment after Ryujis smile I was thinking, "wait, Ryuji is evil too?"
Then the explanation comes
Me to
but imagen though
@@Beny763 Same
I just love how the phantom thieves seem shocked for the "suicide".
@@LoneWolf982 yeah but still it makes it shocking.
Personally, I think that Makoto was unsure it succeeded at first
Joshua Cable if thats the case, then thats some pretty damn good acting :o
@@LoneWolf982 Actually, they were all unsure of Joker surviving or not. After all, in the end, it was all about Joker convincing Sae to involuntary help them.
Tho, they still needed to play normal civilians.
All of them are unsure if joker succeeded or not. Ryuji just 100% sure joker will succeed

Because Joker lives in an attic.
@@mystery8820 wait really? what cutscene is that in?
Full Fantasy Peasant:Shit I picked the bad ending
Ryuji: We got him
Are you sure? 😉
What I like about the twist is that the twist isn't that Akechi is the villian. Its that Joker and everyone already knew just like the player (since its pretty obvious) and that they had this grand scheme. God damn brilliant.
Or that the actual plot twist is Igor being the villain. Its not that big of a deal for first time Persona players but for those whove been around for a long time and know Igor... WOW.
@@notlNSIGHT That's what meant
Any long time fans would have caught something was wrong right from the beginning, he didn't give you the key after all..
@@slavetothecaffeine honestly the voice caught me off guard.

I love these scenes and how flabbergasted/worried everyone is... until Ryuji says we got em. XD And also Akira/Ren's smug little smirk at the end is the best.
that "bitch you thought" smile
"I feel like he is going to come back"
IT SURPRISED ME SIR.
I love how everyone’s surprised at the “suicide” but it’s really because they all have to realize that Akechi’s a traitor
They already realized that. They just needed confirmation. Still. Hearing a close friend committing suicide is still surprising
@solsun7350 Especially when there's a good chance it didnt work. This whole thing was a huge, yet necessary gamble
Police: *Announce Joker's suicide*
Futaba: So anyways I started typing
This is my favorite thing in the entire world. This entire sequence.
Also, the one universal thing amoung all these youtubers was not their level of surprise, emotional outbursts or what they understood. It was their disgust for Haru's Fiance. Kudos to them .
This is what finally justified Joker's nickname. An unpredictable trickster.
You know, I didn't give it much thought before, but now I really want to know what was being said in Futaba's chat.
Every time I replay that scene I think the same thing! What is being said!? Lol
From reddit:
KANAMINprpr: In the end, people who live their lives slow and easy are the strongest. Showing off and throwing away your future are for idiots.
HoneyOTU: The risks of playing with a real terrorist are too high. They've caught the thieves too.
DataStreamCowboy: Actually, the aforementioned hacker who hacked through the police could be you.
HoneyOTU: Thank God that was a rumor.
sagajikan: But the timing is too perfect lolololol They couldn't have actually been arrested by the police amirite lolololol
HoneyOTU: Guess they're not top-notch terrorists like alibaba.
sagajikan: congrats on doing well, alibaba!
@@WraxTV futaba on her mf philosophy boards
This whole sequence reminded me of the movie Ocean's Eleven. How the characters in that movie knew more than the audience did, and when they duped the evil casino owner, they also completely blindsided the audience. I'm not sure if there is a name for this narrative device, but I fucking LOVE it.
Yessss! I would like to know the name of this device too!
Chekhov's Pancakes?
@@disissidd how about a reverse plot twist?
Ryuji is the "glue" of the phantom thieves. Remember that everyone was doubts about the plan but ryuji encouraged them to trust on joker. It even gives much more emphasis on this knowing that ryuji has been through a lot with joker ever since the first day they entered kamoshida's palace and is considered his bro and best friend.
Everyons reaction when Ryuji smiled: "Ah, so we were in on it the whole time!"
My Reaction: "Omg Ryuji was the villain all along?!"
Am i the only one who thought Ryuji was the traitor after seeing him smile?
Perhaps.
The ultimate plot twist. Everyone in unison would all say "For Real!?"
No
yeah
That would've been awesome.

This is why I love NicoB
Dead noises
“That’s the sound of me being dead. Ahg!!!”
Every single RUclipsr: OMG Akira, how did you survive getting shot in the head?
Akira: *Jonathan Frakes telling you you're wrong for 47 seconds*
And now, the moment we've been waiting for...
This twist was so well done. I thought this was going to be the most drawn out bad ending of all time, and then they pulled the rug out from under you. The twist isn't that Akechi is the traitor, the twist is that he was going to murder you in cold blood and your team knew it and put a stop to it. This was probably my favorite point of the whole game (so far).
well he technically didn't betray you since he wasn't on your side to begin with
@@aaron75fy But he did pretend to be
@@SeiyaTempest ah no he didn't, he called a temporary truce for that one job
When the ded guard disappears, they really should have used the sound effect of a shadow dying since they are in the metaverse. Better then the weird light sound we heard
But it wasn't a shadow, it was the Sae's cognition of the guard. I would need to go back when Ann kills Kamoshida's cognition of her to hear if the sound's effect is consistent.
Just like the other dude said. Only Shido can merge cognitions and shadows
who'd win? edgy detective teen or *PANCAKES* hmmmmmm
6:18 more like GORO SKETCHY
Akechi: *pulls a gun at akira*
Akira: *use a uno reverse card*
Akechi: i hate you akira
I don’t know if anyone said this but I take credit for saying this
“Do not battle a plan, instead plan a battle.”
I need akechi boss fight reaction right now.
4 fight straight and me handling akechi's death so suddenly
I remember on my first playthrough I got so worried that I got the bad ending until I saw Ryuji’s smirk and I almost had a heart attack thinking he was the traitor. THEY ALL KNEW SOMETHING WAS UP!!!!!!
This was SO well done. Sometimes when games do stuff like this there tend to be major plot holes but this game seems to fill them in. The first time I watched this my mind was BLOWN. I need to play this game
The reactions were so good
Akira: *literally dies*
Akira like 5 minutes later: That wasn't very cash money of you
Akechi : You see, thats where they trickd me. "Thumbnail" That smile, that damn smile
The twist wasn’t about *who* was the traitor. The REAL twist was *how* the Phantom Thieves faked Joker’s death.
The title of trickster suits joker reaaaally well even the player got fooled
Funny thing was Akechi got figured out by PANCAKES
Not gonna lie, even though I knew 5 seconds after Akechi said pancakes that he was the traitor, for like half a second when Ryuji smirk I thought he was the traitor.
The moment Ryuji said "We got em'", always gives me the tingle.
I thought Ryuji was working with the enemy when he did that.
Everytime i see this smile i think: Thats why he is the Joker 😎
Joker: Here's a little lesson in trickery!
One of the best plot twists in video game history
I remembered when I heard the pancakes comment and the game ignored it. The entire rest of the game I was like "IS NOBODY GONNA MENTION THE PANCAKES?!" and then I got to this part and I literally fell out of my chair celebrating how it got brought up again.
Edit: the second dude is EXACTLY how I reacted.
Edit edit: AND MURDER OF BIRDS IS IN THIS COMPILATION? Hell yea!
this what i call "REVERSED CARD! UNO"
I love these reactions. It was hilarious when FF peasant called Haru’s fiancée rapey Rufus. I almost died. Rofl. Then Shenpai’s freak out!
Otagirl I didn’t realize how much he looked like Rufus Shinra until now.....
Instead of Okumara having a palace in P5R, Haru's fiance should have, one change my mind
Each of the distorted hearts that bring about a palace aren't simply the writers coming up with generic evil people (though it might seem like it). Each of those parts of the story are social commentary on the current state of Japan. Kamoshida's story was based on a basketball coach that abused his athletes until one committed suicide, and that case led to an investigation that found hundreds of Japanese schools with teachers physically abusing their students. Similarly, Sae seeing court as a casino where she's the house is a representation on how unfairly biased the Japanese judicial system is in favor of prosecutors. The palaces that dealt with gangs, politics, plagiarism, mental abuse, and the lazy masses are problems a bit more universal in any first and second world nation. In the case of Okumura, his palace is addressing that the Japanese working environment has gotten so bad that they have an epidemic of people in their 30s dropping dead from being overworked. It's gotten so bad that even The Oxford Dictionary now contains the Japanese word "Karoshi" to describe people dying from work stress. Now, could there be a palace for the fiancé to have some commentary on forced marriages? Possibly, but it seems like a dying trend (unless it's still way worse in Japan and I just don't know). But in a game that was rewritten from its initial concept to not just be more analytical psychology like the other Persona games and actually have social commentary drive the plot, there's no way you should leave out Okumura's palace.
@Harsh Mehtus the other problem is Kamoshida already fills the Lust theme
changing her fiance's heart wouldn't have fixed Haru's situation. Her father would just simply ship her off to some other shitty person
@@Saltyoven Consider this then : assuming Okumura's heart has been successfully changed (meaning his Shadow properly left his Palace), then not only he'll publicly atone for his crimes and apologize, but he'll also reveal to his daughter that the "political marriage contract" between her and Sugimura (Haru's fiancee) was actually fake since there wasn't a contract to begin with.
All he wanted was power and money just to make his presence known in the political world no matter who he would sacrifice, including forcing his own daughter to marry with a good-for-nothing man.
HOWEVER, only Okumura's heart has been changed but NOT Sugimura's, which means Haru is not completely off the hook. So in my opinion, we can't deny the possibility that he has a Palace or, at the very least, a Shadow in Mementos. Even though the contract was fake, which he surely knows, he's probably still obsessed with forcefully marrying with Haru. After all, since he's rich and "powerful" thanks to his father, he'd do anything to make it happen. And if he does have a distorted heart, then changing it will surely make him cancel the marriage.
Now of course, that's ASSUMING the heart of Haru's father has been changed properly, which it didn't happen in the game. Thankfully, Haru's marriage has been called off anyway.
To be honest, I would've grown up the same - if it wasn't for my determination to show that people from the city aren't all criminals
When I first saw Joker get shot, I was fucking livid. "Did they just fucking ice the main guy?" Then it all unraveled and I felt so relieved.
Lol, when Haru pushed Sugimura's arm off her in shock - I was laughing and saying "Great job Haru, push him out of the car!"
Even though I know he's fine seeing everyone's (mostly Haru's) reaction to his "suicide" still hurts me
Same...
haru hurt my heart
Yeah, I was sat there like "Okumura's dead, why are you still making her have a relationship with Sugimura?!"
@@fierytigergaming8112 Okumura died before he could cancel it

I was mind blown by this when I got to this plot twist. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.
I was waiting for this :D my favorite moment in this game!
"Akechi is BAE" lmao
He got me good.
I was devastated until ryuji smiled and I literally jumped out my chair
When I didn’t realize what was happening and when Ryuji smiled said we got him I thought betrayed the phantom thieves or something.
I love to think that once akechi entered the fake room, whims of fate would start playing muffled in the distance
I've been waiting for this!
I can't wait to see Kagato's reaction.
If he decides to upload
@Lizardic There's more of the game after this.
Lizardic Altus said they don’t care about that rule anymore. Plus everyone else is doing it so I don’t see why they’d go after him if he did
He did, he made a comparison between Akechi and Adachi
These scenes always gets me so hyped!
FF peasant's chat throughout the whole playthrough: "pancakes, pez! Remember the pancakes!" 😂
Its the every single chat in Persona 5 playthrough. Its actually pretty infuriating. Ppl think that its smart way to hint a spoiler without spoiling anything, but the more you spam it the more the player starts to question things. Which then leads to the spoiler.
They pulled that uno reverse card😂
27:52 Yes, those are the nicknames in Japanese; except Yusuke’s (he is listed as Inari)

I don’t know how, but I almost cried in this little scene. The music really added too
This just shows how galaxy brained they became by the end of the game.
