Austin Hargrave (PeanutButterGamer): Well intentioned goofball with a strong sense of morality… unless it’s funnier to be evil. He claims to fear leadership roles, but often is thrust into them regardless. He looks to his friends for confidence, and performs in them well. Well-enough.
Ray Narvaez Jr.: Ray’s the boisterous and confident explorer who can get himself into terrible situations as deftly as he escapes them. I say confident, but he’s so deadpan it’s difficult to tell if he’s bluffing. He’s thoroughly capable in all areas of adventure, but greed can sometimes get the best of him.
Luke Sizemore (Yungtown): A lover and a fighter, Luke looks out for the team above all else, adventuring carefully and alert. While the group pushes on ahead, Luke covers escape routes, watches for ambushes, and says encouraging things in his famously pleasant voice.
Jared Knabenbauer (ProJared): Jared is the definition of ‘always on’; if there’s fantasy to be sold you can expect him to captivate. He’s level-headed and roguish in planning and approach, but when it goes down and friends are in danger, there’s few more determined to assist to the bitter end.
Jeff Fabre (SpaceHamster): Jeff has a penchant for escalation when things get silly, but when it comes to building a solid infrastructure, you can guarantee he’s working on it. A competent adventurer, Jeff is arguably the most reliable before, during, and after a fight to get the job done.
Dean Elazab: A raucous adventurer with a knack for pushing his luck- and he knows it. Another word for Dean would be: polarizing; you either love him or hate him. Love him for his ridiculous (and dangerous) antics or hate him for endangering the team.
Barry Kramer: Quiet, chill, and quick of wit, Barry’s the rock of the group. He wouldn’t say this, far too modest, but you just can’t help but think he’s so dang cool. While he’s not one for leadership, affixing Barry to a task almost guarantees it’ll be done safely and quickly.

Yeah but Jeff caused Barry and Jared’s deaths
I definitely thought Jeff was going to join them.
I really hope they keep proximity chat in future hardcore series. The moment when everyone in the mine came up confused as to what was going on added a real sense of realism and really added to the moment.

ProtonToad Making sure we’re on the same page here. During one of the seasons (I believe the previous MC season) he walked straight into the lava. Which was very off for him, and many people mentioned it was strange. I believe that was him quitting the show as quickly as possible.
@@chumbowumbo He made a comment about that on the episode. He fell in lava most likely believing he could walk over the gap. He retired from the show simply because he wasn't enjoying it, his death had nothing to do with it.

Nothing is more frustrating in hc than when someone makes a mistake and it kills everyone around them but the person who messed up survives
I know right? Dammit Jeff, there was a sign and everything!
That wasn't just Jeff. Barry knew as well as anyone about the sign and gave Jeff the okay to open the wall. Then he panicked, and dove head first into the zombie swarm. Yeah, maybe Jeff shouldn't have opened the wall, but it wasn't only his fault. Jared made a similar mistake when he panicked, and ran to a corner of the house instead of leaving.
EDIT: not to say Jared didn’t get the short end of the stick on that one. But had everyone kept their cool, they all would have escaped with their lives.
Ben Parker To be fair the front and back doors were blocked by Zombies and the sword one that did him in was smack dab in front of the front entrance. Jared probably would have been dead anyway if he had tried to fight his way to an entrance.
B3770RD The chestplate was what saved Jeff, yeah. Jeff would have taken hella damage if it weren’t for it, but thank god that he did. If Jeff had died, Barry would have as well anyway, and thus no one would have been able to warn the group at the surface about the zombie hoard about to come. They would’ve been ambushed...
Well one mistake led to many. Berry said "take a peak." Not fling the door open and invite the zombies in for tea. Granted Berry should have probably just said "no don't open it" but even so I think Berry was imagining opening a 1 block viewing port, not a gaping hole that they could flood through. Berry panicked and backed into a corner despite Jeff talking about how many there were he decided to just sit there rather than try to run out behind Jeff and the one Zombie clinging to him. And Jared tried to sit inside the house and fight rather the run out as soon as the Zombies were flooding in from below, which was a terrible idea because as we saw it led to him getting cornered and dying. He should have immediately followed Jeff out of the house and closed the door behind him rather than try to make a last stand.
this really does capture the sheer terror of the original hc seasons

Viewer’s Log: Entry 2
Night 1-Day 2
At the start of the first night, half of the team was still mining while the others had completed a simple first room for their home. Those in the mines (but mostly just Peebs) encountered several Creepers, but without any fatal encounters.
Seeming to try to retain a theme, there was another pointless risk taken, this time by Jared. As part of the team at the house, Jared and some of the others spotted a few skeletons hiding in the shadows outside of their shelter. Jared decided that waiting for the sun to take care of the issue would not suffice, and set it upon himself to challenge the creatures of the night. Though Jared did not perish to the scuffle, it left him in bad shape.
Come daybreak, the miners returned, bringing all sorts of useful minerals. Though the iron they returned with was plentiful, it was not enough to properly equip the entire brigade, and so a new mineshaft was created within the walls of the house. As the adventurers entered, some had still not had proper protection from what they might encounter.
Through the digging, a large chasm was found, and it was home to several monsters. Wisely, the hole was sealed, and the group moved on. Jeff and Barry began digging downward in a direction that they believed to be away from the treacherous cavern, but they soon found it was much larger than they initially believed.
As they breached a hole into the cavern, Jeff spotted 1 zombie, then 2, then 3, and so on. In his panic he began to flee, informing his partner Barry of the imminent danger. Unfortunately, Barry could not react quickly to enough, and was quickly overwhelmed by the hoard. The first death had occurred.
As Jeff fled he warned the others of the hoard, until they had all evacuated to the top of the mineshaft, back inside their shack. They stood waiting for the zombies, but they underestimated the size of the hoard. Once the beasts reached the top, the group realized they were in over their head, and evacuated the shack. Most of them, at least. Jared was left behind and had been picked off, not long after Barry’s demise.
Once the threat was cleared, the group mourned the loss of two of their own, some still in denial of the death of Barry. They called down the shaft for a response they would not receive.

Ray literally saved Jeffs life twice this episode
If not for the armor he gave him, he would have died, and if he didn't kill the baby zombie, he would have died

Three cheers for Ray!
Jeff's hubris and pride is what got barry and jared killed, and he didn't have the grace to die with them. I do not thank Ray
@@Kelarys It was stupid, but Barry should have just told him not to dig into the cave at all. They should have been a lot more cautious, it is hardcore after all, and they weren't very well equipped. They should have been avoiding danger more than they were. Although Jeff shouldn't have made such a big hole if he just wanted go peek. I still wouldn't want anybody to die due to a stupid mistake. *HARDCORE HERO STATUS - EDITION #1* - I, Christopher Bartsch, have decided to keep track of our heroes and their achievements in this hardcore series. I have decided to do so based on the events that occurred in this episode.
PBG: The Reckless One - Discovered the Bad Hole (which I ironically wouldn't be the worst hole in the episode) and conquered numerous Creepers
Jeff: The Survivor - The hero who first entered the Zombie Pit and faced them head-on. He was one of two heroes miraculously managed to escape to ensuing attack as his friends succumbed.
Jared: [R.I.P.] - He rushed into fighting Skeletons and nearly died and proceeded to mask his wounds. Upon discovering the heroes fleeing the zombie ambush became trapped in the house missing the open door by a few inches and was trapped to face the zombie horde unprotected.
Barry: [R.I.P.] - The hero who discovered the Zombie Horde. Upon Jeff's retreat, Barry became trapped and died to the zombie horde
Dean: The Wary - Dean's better-safe-than-sorry philosophy kept him safe from harm in this episode. Upon Peebs discovery of the Bad Hole he hastily retreated. Some would regard him as a coward but when the zombie's overtook the house it was Dean who stepped up to kill most of the zombies
Ray: The Savior - Ray's actions single-handedly saved Jeff from joining the likes of Jared and Barry. His armor protected most of Jeff's hits, helping him barely survive the attack. Not only this but he also managed to kill the wiggly-squiggly zombie, one of the most deadly enemies in their quest.
Luke: The Defender - Luke was part of the least action but still contributed to quest by covering PBG's back upon their entering of the Bad Hole.
also, look closely at jared's health when he got ambushed, the zombie with the iron sword took out most of his health.
Thanks man. This is pretty good if someone wanted a summary.
Christopher Bartsch they were using dgr music
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nice review. If you wanted to add a little more, Luke also helped fight off the horde and Luke built a bridge connecting the mine and the cave allowing for Dean to get there to aid them faster.
I always love listening to Barry, but he seems to always go early when he's around.
What? In most seasons he’s either been the victor or the final survivor.
I could be remembering someone else. But, I coulda sworn.
@@TezzerethPrime He was the survivor/victor of the first two seasons and after that he's had some rotten luck.
@@starner00 He was a survivor in Minecraft 1 and 7th in 2. He was also the 5th death in DayZ and 6th in MineZ 1(Deaths are out of order in that season). He's 2nd in Starbound and 1st and 2nd in Terraria 1 and 2 respectively. Finally, he died 2nd in Diablo II.

@@commanderbacon6426 Jared was falsely accused of multiple heinous acts all for publicity, and it happened because he wanted to get out of an abusive relationship so he cheated on another woman but his wife eas also cheating on him with someone else beforehand. Yet of course, instead of thinking logically and asking what if this isn't what actually happened, (Which PBG almost got destroyed for doing btw) but instead jumping on the bandwagon to ruin a man's life because of some lies. Projared left normalboots at his own will to protect his friends from the angry idiots of the internet. Eaten Alive,
Not again to be Whole...
Gone again is Jared,
Taken a back by the Horde.
Made one false move,
And Fell by the Sword.
Bryce McKenzie That’s poetic
I blame Tod
@@toschiworlds7212 I always give them proper Epitaphs
If only Jeff was more careful and opened only one block and hit them all from the other side
And Jeff, as usual, ran and fled.
Even though he was the most geared.
Maybe he could defend the people now dead.
But now reality is what he feared.
Well... it's usually PBG's fault something like this happens, but this time Jeff should be ashamed.
I kinda think it was everyone's fault because if they wanted to make an underground area they should've went with Peebs and Dean and why would Jared walk back in the zombie filled house
@@Patricia-ee2dh Jared walked in to save ray and tried to walk out of the door afterwards. Sadly he missed the door and got stuck(killed)
Barry sshouldn't have stayed there.
Barry did nothing to mitigate Jeff's desire to engage the zombies.
My reason why it was mostly Jeff's fault is he saw how many zombies and monsters were in that cave, yet he opened up the hole and thought he would manage to stand his ground. Barry stayed, because he had no idea what's going on. Jeff only screamed zombie (no indication about running away), so no wonder Barry had no idea what to do, he probably thought in that moment it was just one zombie, not 20 that poured behind that small one. Jeff didn't blocked his way out as well, making all the zombies come inside...
i love how this entire series got removed cus of what happened with jared but he was only in it for 2 eps XD
I just want to see the other perspectives now, like Luke's or PBG's when the chaos hit, or Barry's when it all kicked off...
well, if the season continues at this rate, this will be quite short. i dont want my HC to end within 10 episodes, though... :(
You know, I was wondering why we've gotten half the voice lines from the intro already on episode two. And then it happened. I believe this is a big pile of foreshadowing for the length of the series
... And then have to wait, like, a month for the next season.
Nah.. They're fighting the enderdragon.. Go back to the first season. two people died between the first two episodes and they still succeeded.. They can rebound from this
@@MsCaptainChase no, they said in previous seasons that people were reading too much into the opening, so they started limiting it to just events from the first few episodes to prevent that sort of "X hasnt said Y yet, so X survives this chaos" type spoilers.
@@ovalsok3610 i know. again, i said "at this rate". you never know what will happen, but also keep in mind they said they have no experience with the revamped ender dragon. even if they reach it, the old winning strategies work differently now, like how an infinity bow is no longer enough.

How's that depression now after that ending? :P

when Todd showed the cave from the inside I audibly went "oh shit"
That Zero Escape music at 4:00 though!! I'm glad to see that someone else has played that masterpiece of a series other than me, good on you Todd!
The danganronpa music is hype as hell when it shows up briefly
and the zero escape music, good choices
Ryan Henderson ikr
Clementine Kitten I love the 999 tracks, damn
Danganronpa, Zero Escape, and Undertale music all in one episode. Jack has some good tastes
Pixels256 I thought those tracks sounded familiar...
Oh god... this new voice thing... it sounds like there calling out in real life for their friends
Let the record show that Spacehamster is solely responsible for that whole thing happening in the first place, and yet he was the survivor.
Life's unfair.
Sonicstriforce well, Jeff thought it was only one zombie, and Barry knew how many there were beforehand, (or at least to some extent) and shouldn’t have told jeff to open a hole in the wall. It isn’t solely one persons fault.
-the heck this is Minecraft why am I commenting on this wut?-
@@very_clever_name1636 I see, but he did immediately run away the second he saw more zombies.
If he was fast he could've set at least 1 block down so they couldn't enter and then both deal with the tiny zombie calmly.
Sonicstriforce what would you do if 15 zombies started pouring in they do 4 hearts a hit and you only have on life also the other guy should have moved he was just standing there while 7 zombies poured in also in the house it wasn't Jeff's fault he shouldn't have cornered himself instead he should have turn and run out the door
Barry cornered himself and then just gave up. He could've jumped up to his left, or even just tried to run up the stairs, but once he realised he was cornered he kind of just jumped into the zombies. Jared had his eyes on the zombies rather than the exit, and so he didn't make it out. Jeff fought back, but he knew when he was outmatched and needed to run, so he escaped.
I'm not trying to blame anyone, but Jeff is only responsible for the zombies attacking. He's not responsible for the deaths of Barry and Jared.
@Sonicstriforce you are right, but the moment jeff saw the other zombies, one already had a hit on him that knocked him back away from the place he needed to place a block. And while jeff was being attacked, zombies were already pouring in so therefor he couldn’t place the block.
Holy cow, hell of a way to start the season off. I can't believe that happened, it's always so easy to forget everyone's mortality in Hardcore.
What is that beautiful music playing early in the episode? This one 1:00? I need it in my life.
Oh no! Tregedy strikes early this season!
Bump?
Ok, spoilers ahead
I'm kinda bummed ProJared died that early, I always liked his pseudo-RPG style of playing... and for everyone blaming Jeff for that: come on! There was no way he's gonna know what happens, the game never pulled something like this on them. Yeah, it was stupid, but no-one (including me watching this) would've know it's gonna be *deadly* stupid
For once Jared didn't try to be a hero. A humble death, maybe he can redeem himself.
It’s funny how bary dies 1 last mc hc and Jared dies 2 in the hc and last hc so next dean then Luke he replaces mc.jones then ray then pbg then Jeff
I said the exact same thing
I am hella sad Jared went so early as well I like his adventuring style as well. I also agree people need to leave Hammy alone, its not nice to be so antagonistic anyone could have opened that wall and there was so much chaos.
I refuse to listen to you Jeff could have just made a one block hole and killed all the zombies from behind a safe barrier. Also everyone in the video or watched the hardcore series knows it can get stupid dangerous very quickly.
"That as a sucky way to end"
Jeff: "Yeah, we could have some windows"
Also Jeff: Immediately blocks the windows
Favorite episode of MC HC so far. That was so intense, and some great camera shots by the wizard.
Jeff's scream at 18:28 is so genuine, it feels bad man
man, i can't wait for this season to be 5 episodes long!
Unbelievable. Instant classic, but still. Unbelievable. They got way too cocky. Oof.
Axel Bordelon they were focusing too much on aesthetic
@Xavier Duboudin i literally almost cried on the pinksheep death xd
If they had gone with Jeff's idea for the mine, using an outside enclosure and a door separating the mine from the house, this probably wouldn't have happened...RIP Jared and Barry.
Could you imagine being PBG, Dean and Yungtown, off mining and minding your own business, only to run back to your house to see your comrades pouring out and 6 zombies running the show.
That went unexpectedly... south pretty fast.
Again, props to the positional audio feature.
Not knowing what happened to the others, and reaching out for a response.
Magnificent feature.

Go to 17:36 and imagine that it's Black Friday and that the hardcore cast are employees and the zombies are the shoppers.😂

Tribute to Mcjones for dying on the second episode of season 6 of minecraft
Man I was u p s e t at that.
Spoilers
Im kind of upset with the way Barry's death was edited, the point of the positional audio and messages being off is you don't know if someone is dead, if it cut to Ray after we saw the mobs first enter the cave as a way of hiding Barry yelling about dying, there could have been a whole nother factor of shock when they realized Barry was gone.
agreed
How will the Nether work in this? Will you not be able to hear someone in the nether if you aren’t in the Nether as well?
yes
Yeah, you can hear people in the Nether. Going off of like 4+ year old memory though, so they may have patched it.
What if that glitch that happened to pbg happened again!?
Master Class OH NO
Holy crap. I just discovered this series today and have only watched 2 episodes, and it's already a wild ride.
I'm hooked.
we need sound track listings for all these seasons, they should really be listed in the descriptions.
