On my van life/Overland excursion I am also taking out the heater and AC unit . Did you happen to run into any electrical issues when removing that unit? I seem to be draining a battery overnight some weird draw that I can’t find? Probably just a short, but I’m curious if they’re related?

I had zero issues, sorry that would have been easier!

Maybe a dremel with a metal blade would fit better than a grinder. 🤷‍♀️. Awesome video, I just had to replace the rear heater coil and radiator in my Gold Expedition, ugh.

Thanks for the video! I'm thinking of removing the rear heat & AC from my V-10 Excursion as well. I'm starting to get leaks in the lines and since I rarely have passengers in the back, it's not worth it to keep fixing. One criticism, I don't think it's accurate to say you bypassed the rear AC or heat. "Bypass" implies that the coolant/refrigerant flows around it or takes a shortcut before getting to the rear. You simply blocked off the lines. I think it will work fine, probably better than if you had actually bypassed the lines and left another flow path. All the flow will now go through the front.

Glad to help, Yes I think you are probably correct, capped off or blocked with be a better terminology. Still not to hard to do and if you remove the box and such you gain a bunch of storage back in there. I do worry about those hot areas that see 120 or lots of heat and humidity, the front a/c is going to have to work hard to cool the truck down. But for me I will only be visiting that type of place.

If you decide to get rid of the rear vent window motors and arms let me know. I’m looking specifically for passenger side, but I’ll gladly buy the pair.
