  • If you have an injury or disability, or even just struggle in general with doing regular power chords, here are some alternatives that might help you out. EVH actually got really into that Landau chord around the time of the Balance album too. Don't Tell Me's verse is based on that shape and all those cool sliding chords in The Seventh Seal's intro are basically that shape with the high E string ringing over all of them. Another alternative I like a lot is playing a G5 with the top two notes on the open D and G strings, so 3x00xx - that's all over John Petrucci's stuff for instance.

    These are not new concepts for me but I stuck around watching it because you have a knack for explaining things so well! It's a pleasure to see you teach! I wish you were my teacher 35 years ago :D

    Power chord is cool✨
    Some Japanese young guitar boy and girl who start playing guitar learn the power chords from the song "小さな恋のうたSmall Love Song" by the band Mongol 800 ( モンパチ).Then, they perform in front of their friends and teachers at the school festival. Power chords are the best!😊

    That Landau type of chord is really good, thank you for the tip. I use alot the one finger powerchord on the 5th and 4th strings, even in the 3rd too. The Neil Schon one is very good too in certain situations for not moving the hand when other voicing close to that is coming.
    Nice video man, could you do one about how to build a preset like yours in the boss pedalboard?

      Thanks! I use a Boss Me50 and I had a stream where i went over how to achieve a similar sound. It was called ‘how to get a def Lep tone’ or something like that.

      @@bwm5150 Thank you man, i will check your video.
      I have a doubt, how do you mute the 3RD string in the Landau type of chord? Im trying with the INDEX Barely touching the 3RD while making the little barre on the 1st and 2nd strings, or the middle finger muting it but it is rare, just want to know how do you do it.

    Sometimes i struggle when i tell guitarist “don’t play just a regular boring power chord.” It just sound unfavorable. How did Steve Clark make a regular ole power chord sound so good? He had a totally different point of view?

      Hi. I did a stream a couple of years ago going over my setup and how to achieve a similar tone. There’s documentation in the description free to download which pretty much summarises the stream if you don’t have the time to watch it. ruclips.net/user/live4Fta3oNuX20?feature=shared

    Is it necessary to learn to read music ( i know note value) or are reading tabs fine?

    • @bwm5150
      @bwm5150  2 месяца назад

      Tabs are a great way to get into it and are actually the only way to see hand positions as there are multiple ways to play the same note on guitar.

    Who said guitarist ruin songs? Give me their names. (Best to ask that question in Maggie Thatchers voice).
