Is it best to learn the tune from the start using the Georgia shuffle (because I like that vibe) or just learn the tune and then incorporate the Georgia shuffle? I am concerned that if I just learn the tune with normal bowing then it will go into muscle memory and I will find it difficult to change to the Georgia shuffle. I can’t sight read so learn tunes by a combination of ear for the rhythm and music for notes. Hope this makes sense.
Hi Darren, that's an interesting question! It rather depends on your level of ambition. In the long term you're better off learning the tune with single stroke bowing, and then experimenting with different shuffle patterns until you have found what feels to you like the best version, then sticking to that. But if life is too short for that then yes, go straight for the Georgia shuffle version!
