Omg this is EXACTLY what i begged you for Seth. You kept the same format WITH an audience. No other Late Night show did that and that makes you amazing!!!
I don't think Ted Cruz's highschool English teacher is worried about him mixing metaphors as much as he would be concerned about what a terrible human being he turned out to be...
I was stunned by the statement too, did he even learn communications skills past the 12th grade? He speaks as if he is untouchable, he speaks how drunk people speak.
And now I understand why my HS English teacher foreboding cautioned me the evils of sarcasm and the demons they're inspired by. Not that I was terribly stricken with devilish teen aged angst, well, ok, I was, but I was never designed to become such a despot of moral ineptitude that is Ted, but She knew she had to do her small part to prevent the Cruz's of the world. Im so glad the tangents continued. this was a fantastic closer look, seth seems excited to be back and he deserves it... he has indulged us for the past 19 months
I'm really impressed with how this first closer look manages to blend the casual, tangent-filled, more RUclips commentary esque feel of the quarantine shows with the energy of the audience. It's selfishly what I wanted and strategically what I was hoping the show would continue to do

I'm really banking on it just taking time for me to adjust to the audience being back... Right now it's detracting from the experience for me... He panders and of you add up all the time he does extended bits and audience clapping and just so many things its just wasting time to not tell jokes.
For me, I don't think Colbert got more annoying with the return of his audience, I think he just really needed them. Whereas Seth really came into his own without an audience. I prefer Seth's show now without an audience but those decisions aren't up to me 😃
Seth and his team's humour evolved so much over the course of lock-down and I am so glad they're keeping parts of it. One of the few late night shows that managed to adapt their humour to the audience-free environment successfully.

From a purely selfish standpoint I’m not immediately digging the audience thing, but I think the way it energizes Seth and staff will make up for whatever was lost in the format change. I expected the first one with the audience would be a bit more awkward, but they pretty much nailed it. So seeing the way the audience reacted tonight, and then seeing how that reaction just TOTALLY lit Seth's face up like that, KNOWING everything we've been through since the last time there was an audience, well, honestly I think you just put it absolutely perfectly. It _was_ everything.
It sincerely was *everything.*
I laughed so hard at "a lot of dead chickens" Seth nailed it. "He thinks in the game of chicken you have to have a truck full of chickens." I'm dyyyyyyying...
I was nervous about him returning to the audience, but he pulled it off very naturally with the same energy he had in the lockdown shows. Great episode!
At least they didn't go Oprah-audience on us. Yet.
I know! It’s so nice to see, he came back WAAAAY better than Colbert’s transition back.
@Jami Boothe He speaks like drunk people drive.
And I appreciate that truckloads of chickens are so much more safer thanks to her now 🙄

Seth is so happy about having an audience again. That makes it absolutely worth it.
Having an actual audience apparently gives Seth mad coke energy, I love it
@@alrightyru Rest, rest, I can already hear the Jackal element that has crept across from Corrections.
And the Late Night slot has its own trolls now - very jackal-ish but still trolls...the 'shut up Jake' interlude cracked me up 😂😂
Early days yet but we may have survived the return of the audience....
....unless the audience was pure jackal...did anyone frisk them at the door for knitting needles?
I was a bit concerned that the return of the audience would throw off the natural flow of the jokes that Seth and his writers had polished over the past 19 months, but so far… so good. Also thrilled that he’s keeping the casual look that helped make the show feel comfortable and informal.
Seeing Seth’s eyes light up in joy whenever the audience laughs at his jokes is magical enough for this jackal
Well, he IS a comedian, first and foremost. So if he makes the audience laugh, that just means he's good at his job!
Seeing your eyes darken with dismay when you realize you're not funny is magical enough for this jackal. Lighten up!
It's selfishly what I wanted and strategically what I was hoping the show would continue to do
The laughing is weirding me out, it almost sounds like a laugh track. Relieved Seth didn't go full-blown with a suit tho. Thanks for easing us back in.
Me too! I'm so glad he kept the hair and didn't go back to suits!
I'm very happy he kept the look. Less than with the damn audience
I'm really banking on it just taking time for me to adjust to the audience being back... Right now it's detracting from the experience for me... I really miss the intimate nature of the show without the audience and with the interaction with the writers and crew. I am glad that some of the casual nature of the show has carried over.
It bothers me as well. One solution is for the producers to lower the volume of the audience a bit.
Agreed. First laughs I heard sounded tinny.
Aww the audience is back. I miss the audience-free shows already but I'm super envious of the audience. They are so lucky they get to see Seth live. The Wally bit 🔥😂😂

Other than that slight beat more to allow the audience to laugh hes kept the pace and kinds of jokes, now instead of the crew he will also use the audience.
So glad hes sticking to this new format. As you said, i 100% agree Colbert is not good anymore.

From a purely selfish standpoint I’m not immediately digging the audience thing, but I think the way it energizes Seth and staff will make up for whatever was lost in the format change.
