I wish there were teen movies made the way john Hughes made them in today's time. My parents are so nostalgic about the 80's I want to feel that way about today to show my kids how great being a teen today feels like
simply the best yes...but it would also show how people are online and how they are in real life..how society is today and how kids react to it..wow,that WOULD be interesting! Man, John Hughes was great...
Those of us who were privileged to grow up in our teens and early twenties in the 80’s had an amazing time and the music of our era is still with us today… it is timeless… such an awesome song from the Thompson Twins to end a an amazing movie 👊👊
The moment where Jake says, "Yeah, you!", that's one of the greatest moments in cinematic history. I don't care if you're male, female, gay, straight or whatever, a piece of you HAS to melt when you says those two words.
I wasn't even alive when the movie came out but my parents were teens at the time and showed me. I love this movie, a timeless teen classic that I will show my future children
BRUTUSPLAC My junior year-4 years after the Golden State Killer murdered my neighbor in Goleta-seein’ Martha Davis of the Motels drunk out of her mind at the Hollywood Palladium and then seeing the Cure there the NEXT night-oh 1984. It all sucked at the time, but I would love to go back and give myself a hug and kiss and “buck up” it’s gon ‘ get even uglier.....
The 80s is the best there is! No cell phone , no internet, just ride my bike after school to the park and played handball, stickball, touch football in the street. My kids just sits in front of the computer after school till bedtime.
And no Status Anxiety either back in the 80s- just colorful clothes and happier people, what is with everybody wearing black today. My sister and i grew up in the 80s and were never in the house at all, i was born 1975. Now my sis wont let her kids out, because of the millions of cars waiting to run them over, and kidnappers on every corner, we grew up in 80s london a time when ice cream vans actually sold ice cream, oh the media of today have turned good ole London into a shanty town.
Now hold on... technology is the one that has gotten our country very far financially and so on, but teens these days... even myself... we are taking social media n what not out of hand
You can't do anything now that you could not do then, its just you have what ever you have with you everywhere you go now. But now creativity is at a standstill and people are fatter than ever and tattooed like circus freaks of old.
You want to know why this music is held in such high regard decades later? It's not entirely nostalgia's fault as nostalgia is simply a byproduct of time passed. The reason is because this music was made with love, and more specifically the notes, the sound quality, and the melody itself is soothing.
The fusion of heart, mind, body and soul. Spot on. Spot on. Artists of the past for many centuries were taught how to or more so encouraged to put themselves fully into their work.
Man I miss the good old days of those years growing up. Home when the streetlights came on, the classic movies, music. We were always out playing all day and night if we could HAA. Times were so much simpler then. Even just the instrumental to this classic takes you back. Me and my wife would listen to these classics all day. I miss you so much babe!!!!!! Rest in Peace Tiffany, till I see you again my love!!!!
My favorite 80's movie!! Michael Shoeffling as Jake Ryan+ Molly Ringwald as Samantha + If You Were Here as the theme song +John Hughes= magic!! I wish I was born in the 80's!!
I will agree with you as maybe the best of the "crazy high school rom-coms" 😉 the comedy elements here are so beautifully campy and ridiculous... you have to smile. "What are you complaining about? I got a guy sleeping above me named after a duck's dork!". Long Duk Dong. Awesome! "Why are we parked in front of my church?" "YOU own a church?"
Why was Jake Ryan so likeable? Because he didn't care about being popular or the looks of a hot girlfriend. He was a guy looking for a soul mate and found it in Sam. I just wonder when he began to put his eyes on her.
Oh man....I'm immediately drawn back in time to when I was a young teen every time I hear this song. Such a magical time for us with all of these amazing John Hughes masterpieces. Good Times.
I love it when Jake points at Samantha and she turns and is shocked that no-one else is behind her! The disbelief on her face is fantastic. I adore this song and because of Bob's Burgers I brought the film! BRILLIANT
Molly Ringwald brought me to this cool "sixteen candles" video. She's made over 40 movies. And she's just 54. Feb-1968. Awesome actress no doubt about it!.
Forget that this was a great 80s movie theme song. TT always made awesome music that would outperform today's top music. Music for all time in my book! It was that much sweeter to have lived and experienced this during my teen years. If only this kind of music ruled the airwaves today, America would be such a better place and teens of every generation would live happier.
The best Thompson Twins song ever! Their stuff from the mid 80's was alright but it was too much pop music oriented and they played it so much on MTV and the radio that I'm fucking sick of "Hold Me Now" even today 30 years later! They regained some of their new wave sound with the late 80's song "King for a Day"... It was less Pop music sounding.... :)
Why don't they make movies like this now? In my opinion movies today are all the same. Remakes, and sequel's. Like, where's the originality 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Such a magical decade. I feel blessed to have grown up then. I look at the lack of freedom and responsibility kids have now and it saddens me. I want to take away their cell phones and xbox and give them all skateboards and say go play outside until the streetlights come on!
Lets agree, life before 2012 were the last years that you never had to worry about clout, let alone worry about ByteDance's upcoming app: TikTok..... - No Dry Ass Communications - No Political Correctness - No Oversensitive People - No Black Lives Matter - No Cancel Culture - No OnlyFans - No Thots - No Fake Users In 2012, life was slowly about to change and you know it if you grew up as a teen, or young adult during this timeframe ..
Can someone please mention what the BPM or tempo John used for this since I really liked it a lot. Just so I can have a full version of it on here! Thanks!
I wish there were teen movies made the way john Hughes made them in today's time. My parents are so nostalgic about the 80's I want to feel that way about today to show my kids how great being a teen today feels like
Oh my gosh yes! This world has truly turned into somethin else for sure
simply the best yes...but it would also show how people are online and how they are in real life..how society is today and how kids react to it..wow,that WOULD be interesting! Man, John Hughes was great...
You are right. The 80's were magical. I miss them. Born in 1975
😂😂 you missed the boat if you're not a 70s child 🌸
@@SUGAR_XYLER I just about qualified! 😂
I was 12 at the time..all my love ones were still alive.😢😢this movie brings back so many memories

Funny thing was Molly Ringwald was 16 at the time of this movie. Not hard for her to play the part. Miss the 80s. A awesome time.
I miss the 80s! When I think of it, as I often do, this is the soundtrack that accompanies those fond memories.

Agreed! I grew up in the 80's. I was born in 1968 and was age 12-21 from 1980-89. Best years of my life! :)
Man what a classic! Damn I miss the 80s! John Hughes movies were the best! Specially when they were filmed in my hometown Chicago.👌😎👍👉♥️
80's/90's kid still listening to this amazing tune in 2019. 😎😎😎😎
2021 and still love this tune.

I wonder if I lived during this era that my life wouldn't have felt wasted.

captured the essence of the movie tastefully and just a great trip down memory lane...thanks
Thank you for the lovely comment. You are most welcome, friend.
How many films are lucky enough to have such a genuine masterpiece written for them❓ How many artists are lucky enough to do a John Hughes theme?

I wish guys would still dress like a man, like how the use to dress back in the days cause God knows what some of them are wearing now🤔
I don’t care, Long Duck Dong stole this show! “Yes…married!”,
SAM WAS LUSTING AFTER SOMEONE ELSE'S BOYFRIEND.
Am I the only one who always worried that her dress would catch of fire?
Dude, I am in A RELATIONSHIP with her! Figure to like seventeen digits!
Was Molly Ringwald ever,,, you know what, fuck it.
Funny that is actually a breakup song.
Automobile!! :)
