Great vid Ed! Something to note is that you can actually use codes from the very start of the game by interacting with the box in front of the barn! Also brilliants give a boost to the party's growth rate (how many stats a monster gains on level up), not exp.
I discovered that if you survive at least 1 hit from boss monsters that are significantly stronger than you, that will impress them sometimes too! I managed to survive a singular hit on my LAST mon when encountering Myrkr in the very very beginning of the game (just a few minutes ago at time of writing) him being level 30 vs my lvl 6s and had 2hp left on my last one and he accepted the pact!! Now I'm riding my big ol serpent boi around the early area lmao
Great guide. I've been purposefully avoiding other videos about Monster Crown because it seems like there is so much to discover, but this is a nice starting point. Going to be booting it up tonight for the first time!
I've really enjoyed this game so far. Unfortunately, I'd never recommend this game to anyone in it's current state due to how many game breaking bugs I've experienced already on the Switch version. Is there somewhere where I can report bugs? I've had several battles be unbeatable when monsters use stat moves then my monsters moves don't activate properly, I've had weird screen glitches, stairs become inaccessible, the monster fusion on Hewston is completely broken, etc. Some of the issues resolved themselves or I was able to enter a building and it removed the glitch, but others are still issues such as the fusion in Hewston and the Nautlus battle you have to do to fight one of the chiefs is bugged and I deal no damage to it. I've attempted multiple things to try to get these to work but nothing works. I will say crossbreeding is interesting and I'd like to experiment with fusion when I'm able to.
There's so little information on this game. it makes me feel like I'm back in the 90's, wandering around aimlessly trying to figure everything out by myself
something to note about codes is that on anything that is not PC you will need to enter the code in manually, so perhaps if you are on console it would be best to skip code monsters
You know some tenacious person is gonna code in every single monster with a controller and it's gonna take two days and then they're not gonna play the game for a week to recover
This game is amazing unfortunately I experiencing game breaking bug. So I went back to my home to rest after going to the first town. And the screen went black and it would not return to normal so I can continue the game.... I'm just now getting home from work and about to try again I will keep everyone updated. By the way man I love your channel keep up the good work!
Okay so I've taken the time to play for quite some time now I'm finally at the part to where you hatch an egg with the atomic clock and afterwards after you recruit the dragon that hatches from the egg the most natural thing is to challenge the next boss which will raise your tamer level there is a bad glitch . this glitch will not let you defeat the boss whatsoever every time you hit one time the game freezes. And if you try to switch out your monster the game freezes. I've duplicated this three different times and I'm kind of scared I might have to restart my whole file which is upsetting because I've spent hours on the game now.
This game looks and plays pretty rough around the edges at times (understandably so given the developer is like one dude as far as I can tell) but it feels like I’m going to spend a lot of time playing. I love some of these monster catching rpgs that seem to be taking more inspiration from dragon quest monsters over Pokémon. I watched this sit in my steam library for some time because I wanted to wait until it felt truly finished to get into it and I just started it today.
This game looks so good I can’t wait to get it on switch. I’m waiting to play it on my switch OLED which should come in the mail Friday. I want this to be the first game I play on the OLED.
I'm just gonna say rn it's a bit glitchy, and I'm also asking for help rn too..😅 So basically after I went upwards on the map past the frost area, where it's more like summer, there's a cave u have to pass, and in there, I got the seed thing that breaks the roots blocking the way. But after it fell down to the lower level by the broken bridge, it glitched and it was floating at the top left of my characters head. I then tried to move to the roots, but as that happened the seed made me pass through the wall, so I am now stuck in what's basically the void. I don't know if there's a glitch or smth I can do, but I accidentally saved, and now I can't get out. So idk if I have to restart or if I can get out...
For some reason the codes dont work. Im on the wiki and im inputting the code right. But nothing happened, and im not getting the monster. Liking the game so far and i even got one of the early boss monsters with me.
i heard the switch version has had some issues, I haven't run into a large amount on steam though, I know the switch version isn't up to date with the steam one. There still are some glitches, but nothing crazy so far on steam at least that i've found :)
So what about the ones who already have buy it for early access will we be able to keep all of our monsters because I do not want to start all over again
The code system is both an amazing and bad mechanic, in my opinion. It's awesome to get some unique monsters via code, but if every monster is available by code, it makes trying to tame monsters kind of...pointless.
@@GymLeaderEd I'm glad he's saying this ballsy shit though cuz it shows where his priorities are. If he's aiming for "pre-internet cartridge games" levels of bug-free I think he's almost there as it is. (meaning the bugs are still there but usually minor and easily corrected)

for some reason my game does not save. do u know why.
@@yimszy4588 I do not :/ I'm sorry, it could be related to the drive it's installed on though
I went into Monster Crown mostly blind. Saw a brilliant monster was like ok is that a shiny. Came here and got my answer lol. Great job as always Ed.

I remember following this game years prior. The developer really advertised the project and the emphasis on breeding

LOOL I DIDNT EVEN THINK ABOUT THAT OMG. Well some of the earlier codes are at least shorter lmfao
Can you even imagine putting that shit in with a controller? If Switch has a keyboard function that would be cool lol
You know some tenacious person is gonna code in every single monster with a controller and it's gonna take two days and then they're not gonna play the game for a week to recover
Great job as always, ed. Can't wait to play when i get home, been following since ea. Super excited and this was a great refresher.
Awesome, thank you!

As far as the bug goes with the house after resting I guess it was just a hiccup because I was unable to duplicate it

Have it and even tho i like it I'd say you'd be better of waiting for a patch.
Really buggy, glitchy and sometimes the game just hangs itself.

I’m experiencing the same dilemma in the northernmost town.
Is there a way to change the battle screen to a more Pokemon like just asking
Thank you!

Can't copy and paste the codes on Switch, going to have to do it manually 😳

It's only a select few :)
@@GymLeaderEd that's nice, then

Nah it's not bug free but it's much better than it was before

You can just PUNCH IN CODES AND GET MONSTERS FOR FREE????
"veterans" on a game like this xD
