    Probably the most fuel efficient car I've ever driven, the 3 cylinder DPi engine in this car gave me 82 mpg on a 50 mile motorway drive.

    Good upbeat video. Cars of this size generally have compromises and fitting one tall adult behind another, with some difficulty, is forgivable. Interestingly, the first Honda Jazz from 20 years ago did a great job with space ….. before they went up-market and became more expensive.

      @BuckleUpShow  Год назад

      Thanks for watching! Yeah, but I can fit in an i10 which is a very similar size so thought it was worth mentioning.
      The Jazz is still excellent for that, but prices have gone up to reflect the hybrid bits and much improved interior.

    My daughter was a rep for a well known holiday company in Cyprus and had a very early one of these. She picked me up from the airport and it was very crashy on the suspension. The mileage 300k miles but still running fine except suspension needed attention

    The one to go for is the GT-Line S; lowered suspension, low profile tyres, 16" wheels, all the bells and whistles, 50mpg but will get you to 60 in 9 seconds and it's great fun to drive.
    If you can find the special edition "Bumblebee" version it'll get you to 60 in 7.5 seconds as it's got a 125bhp engine instead of the 99 that's on the standard GT-Line S

      @@BuckleUpShowyes I know! What a disappointment and a missed opportunity; maybe they'll add it to the range, or maybe they're looking to push people who used to own the GT-Line S Picanto into the GT-Line S Stonic which is more profitable

    Mine is great for city driving! I can park it anywhere where most cars wouldn't fit so I always find a spot, I've also got the display with android auto which is all I need and paid it around €18000 euros a couple of years ago (in Italy)!
    Only thing I'd say is that my manual gearbox sometimes makes it a bit hard to put it in reverse...

    Tbf, yes the « infotainement » on this car feels outdated but Android Auto / Apple Carplay is not mandatory if, for exemple, you don't need to use the GPS. In 2009, with my first car, I was always kinda doing the same routes and I know my town perfectly so it wouldn't have add anything really.

    • @BuckleUpShow
      @BuckleUpShow  Год назад

      And that’s fine in 2009, but in 2023, pretty much every other car has it as standard, including it’s main rivals. That’s more my point.

    Although 3 inches is not a big space, the extra amount - that the Hyundai i - 10 would bring - would allow you to fit, even if barely, even in the back, and would provide for the under 6 ft. 1 peoples five seats, even if not very confortable !

      The Hyundai i10 seats are all much thinner but lower back accessories are sold which assist comfort. Perhaps the Picanto seats are too padded -- as in earlier iterations of the model.

    An abnormally tall person 'testing' the rear seats on a basic compact family car was plain stupid. The reviewer left the driver seat in the position set comfortably for him, therefore the rear seat 'test' was unfair. The UK average height for men is 5' 9" and the average for the reviewer's age group is 5' 11" on 2023 stats. That translates into 2 horizontal click forward and straighter rake than shown here. The website authors should apologize to Kia.
    We learned a lot about in-car 'toys' he would have liked to see and how he likes to drive but we learned far too little about the car. There was not even a view of the boot or engine compartments but other, proper, review sites do this to an extent.
    Some people would pay more to free from screens and other electronics focusing on smartphone use as the norm when it is not or should not be according to laws and safety advice. Driving is driving and Asian manufacturers tier in-car equipment for broader use than others. The 'toys' may be added at reasonable cost.
    It should noted that Hyundai-Kia has always sold a large range of vehicles shared between the twin companies, with Hyundai covering sports tourer cars and Kia was tasked with the pure EV end of the market. Both overlap on the small family segment and the i10 is more expensive than the Picanto while being more or less unchanged over 7 years. Perhaps it will be a hybrid soon.
    Really, this non-review is a disgrace and misrepresentation of a product, clumsily presented by someone lacking both knowledge and interest.

      @BuckleUpShow  Год назад +2

      Hi Stephen, I've been doing this for 4 years now, and this has to be, by far, the most oddly insane comment I have received in all that time. You're either the master or sarcasm, or more likely, you're potentially the dullest person I've ever had the displeasure of stumbling across.
      Firstly, 6ft2" is not 'abnormally' tall. How would you have preferred me to test the rear seats? It's a basic principle of reviewing cars that you state your height, and set the seat in your driving position. How, as a 6ft2" man, am I supposed to arrange a seat for a height that I'm not? I don't know how it feels to be shorter than I am, and therefore could not set up a seat in that way. It would be complete guess work and wildly inaccurate to even suggest you know how many 'horizontal clicks' the seat would need to move for a specified height. Every car is different and everybody is a different build. Not all 5ft9" people have the same body to leg length ratio. To suggest so is borderline insanity. For example, my co-presenter is 5ft11" but we usually sit equidistant to the pedals in the majority of vehicles we test. This completely undoes any point you were trying to make. We're not all manufactured robot clones, although I think you could well be. I won't apologise to Kia for being above average height. Just as I won't ask you to apologise for being a short-arsed bore.
      Secondly, at 3.33 there is clearly a shot of the boot. I didn't show under the bonnet because most people don't give a rat's arse, and I provided all the information you'd need to know about it while driving.
      Thirdly, the 'toys'. When you say 'some people' do you actually mean 'me' or 'I'? Every single one of this cars rivals comes with a central screen and some form of smartphone connection. It would be remiss of me not to mention that. That's why I recommend going for the '3' specification, because to 'some people', being able to connect their phone is a priority. A smartphone is something most people have, and they use it to connect with other people, sometimes called friends. They also like to listen to their own music, and sometimes might even use an electronic map so they know where they're going.
      Fourthly, I am aware that Hyundai and Kia are one company. I own a Kia myself. Your understanding of the brand separation however, is poor at best. Hyundai currently sell more EVs than Kia, and Hyundai don't make any 'sports tourer cars' as you put it. They do make some excellent little hot hatchbacks, though. While you're correct the i10 is more expensive, it has received several updates throughout its lifespan and is available with many more 'toys' than when it first went on sale. The new 2024 Picanto will not be available with a hybrid.
      You can call the review a 'disgrace' and 'clumsily presented', but you haven't actually pointed out any inaccuracies which I'm sure you would have done if there were any. So to claim I am not knowledgable about, or interested in, the content I make is perhaps a stretch, even for you.
