I'm so glad my mom raised me with Depeche Mode in my life. I may not have been listening to them until 2005 but they will ALWAYS be incredible. Timeless.

I also grew up with them as my father always listened to them. Started listening to them when I wasn't even born yet haha, definitely going to pass that to my own children as well one day. I've also always promised myself they'd be my first ever concert and well I was one of the youngest around at the last tour and it was such a great experience! Spoke to so many other fans, just magnificent!

I understand what you mean. Well, anything you listen from Depeche Mode can bring you some nostalgia feelings because they're...Depeche Mode, a band we grew up with!
And it's amazing how many styles they have changed over the decades, but still remaining themselves. I mean, take some of their early songs like "I Just Can't Get Enough" or "The Meaning of Love", and then listen to their recent album which is so sad and slow and mature. It's so different, but it's the same band (but only 2 of them now, unfortunately...).

Really underrated song/album, its actually one of my favorites from Depeche Mode.
Depeche Mode is such a great band and so underrestimated amongst rock bands. What started as an electric pop band really evolved in one of the great rock bands of the last decades. And my God yes what a singular and great voice.

This album took time to grab me. I loved the first single Wrong and all the bonus songs were amazing, but the album took some time to grow on me. I had similar issue with Delta Machine.

I remember being so happy when this video came out: the song was one of my favorites off a brilliant album that really helped me at a trying time, and despite loving the songs, the videos for "Peace" and "Hole to Feed" seemed really divisive. This video was a lovely compliment to one of Martin's most gorgeous songs, and the world rejoiced.

I saw a Depeche tour documentary on RUclips and for a few seconds, it showed the guitar tech's copy of the setlist. I was very surprised to see that it showed altered tunings for almost every song. Not just one or two, but many dramatically different tunings, with few alike. The ringing sound of the notes in the guitar on this gorgeous song makes me think that he probably used one on this track, as well. But I couldn't believe it when I saw that; I didn't expect it at all. All those years I've been watching Martin's fingers to figure bits out, and it wouldn't even matter because I didn't know the tunings!

@@GeorgeDemin That's one of several beautiful legacies the band continues to build upon: there must be thousands of people who play music basically because of DM, and people all around the world have learned more English because of the band than most other bands can say, I suspect. They have an unusually large impact on fans, and I like the idea that, though you and I didn't even suspect each other existed in 2005, we were united in our trying to figure out the guitar parts on Playing the Angel.

I think this is one of my favorite of their videos. The song is lovely and the visuals are abstract, digital, yet organic. Definitely one of the best non-Anton things, visually. Such a fantastic song.

I don't know where to begin. This is a centerpiece song of the DM album I most needed, for one. I love the fluidity of the vocal blend and the rapturous insistence of the modular synth lines. The guitar melds to the drums perfectly. I feel like I'm defiling a holy relic to even fumblingly try to put it into words.
I need this song and it heals me even all this time later.

Sounds of the Universe is underrated...
That's a huge understatement, nobody ever speaks of them when naming some of the best bands, it's usually U2 or The Rolling Stones due to being more comercially successful and more mainstream but Depeche Mode has a constantly evolving sound and they keep finding ways to sound better than ever, and Dave Gahan is also one of the most amazing live performers of all time, the presence and charisma he has on stage is profound.

@@mazdahydrogen5579 Не буду говорить, что не имеете вкуса, и т.п. Но должен сказать, что Depeche Mode являются, в первую очередь, представителями электронной музыки. И она подразумевает использование в музыке самых разнообразных звуковых эффектов. И получается это у них просто шикарно.
@@standlyua3608 нет, не в данном случае, плохо продумана сама музыка, именно возможность лучшей комбинации этих звуковых эффектов о кторых вы говорите, просто учитывая что от депеша относительно редко выходят треки, вы и рады обольстить все что угодно, ведь это же депеш мод) но я так не делаю, халтуру слышно сразу

Creo que Sounds of the Universe es uno de los discos más incomprendidos de la banda. Incluso a mí me cuesta tomarle cariño a las canciones pero explorando más a fondo el disco nos encontramos con canciones muy hermosas.
En serio su cancion In simpathy es en mi opinion una de sus mejores canciones y de las mas sub estimada.
Jerry L Verdad, pero pienso que Ultras es lo mas en la historia de Depeche.
Sin duda alguna Ultra es mi favorito. La Collectors Edition es una de las joyas más preciosas de mi colección musical. Toda la historia y sucesos alrededor del lanzamiento de este fue algo completamente único a todos los anteriores.
Laberinto Azul creo que una de mis favoritas es Ghost... incluso, tomando en cuenta los múltiples demos de discos anteriores hacen que este Sounds of the Universe sea tan diferente y en parte excéntrico; Martin Gore es fantástico.

Catching Up With Depeche Mode and Black Celebration were my "Go To" albums when I was fifteen. I graduated high school in 1990 and took off to see The Violator tour while living in NY. And, now my teen daughters are wearing my old concert tee's. History repeats itself. From New Wave to Alternative~ kudos to those enjoying DM's music.
