You'd be surprised how much damage a filming crew can do even when they are careful. I live near a historical area that generates a lot of attention. They got permission to film back in the 70s , took precautions and were careful. Put plants back etc but the weight of the equipment made changes to the ground that couldn't be reversed.

    If I owned this property and this was just a useless lawn (not being used for food production or grazing) I would say dig it all up! Find the palace! It’s obviously there! Then open the ruins that are found to the public after excavation is done.

      Well, in the video he says it went into severe decline (apparently it was considered old fashioned), and it was "bashed down when Charles the First had his head chopped off". That would mean the English Civil War - when Oliver Cromwell took over.

      old buildings only mean something to us now. Do you care about some 1970's flat? no, tear it down. But in 2150 they will cry that we did. Back in the day it was just an old rotten building no one wanted

    • @guramile
      @guramile Год назад +3

      The palace was sold to various speculators in 1650, who tore it down for the materials and sold them for great profit...the privy donjon and the other stone structures. Much of the brick courts were left, but eventually moldered away.

    • @celtoloco788
      @celtoloco788 Год назад

      @@guramile yeah, people dont realize the serious value in old building materials. Henry tore down the monestaries, partly to cement his own power, but mostly to steal all the lead off the roofs to fund his military.

    it's private property. same approach has been taken at many properties. it costs a fortune and a long t8me to get lawns looking like thar. Ask to dig up the golf clubs 18th hole and see where that gets you.

    I looked up Richmond Palace, and it was built beginning around 1501. Prior to that, there was another structure there called Sheen Palace (medieval) that burned down. I'm confused that this presentation refers to Richmond Palace as medieval, when clearly it wasn't.

    The rude way he snatched that brick without permission and then verbally cut off any input Mr Beric Morley the historian might add was poor form to say the least. Then not knowing metric dimensions of a Tudor brick deleted any confidence in his supposition, especially as it looked like he was approximating due to the obvious damage. Yes, very bothered, lol
