Love this video Meghan :) There are so many videos out there kind of judging us who don't use menstrual cups. Some (including myself) have vulvodynia, endometriosis, pelvic floor dysfunction etc. Menstruation, sex and other stuff are extremely painful and I don't want anything down there. I tried tampon once and almost passed out. I do what I can- use eco or washable pads. Thank you for good advice!
Tara De Vito. I got mine off of amazon. They are called Langsprit, they are charcoal infused. It comes with 6 pads and a mini wet bag, for $13.99. But I don't think it matters what kind you buy, I just picked the cheapest ones that were more natural, with good reviews.
Hi Meghan I just wanted you to know that you are of great inspiration to me from the way I dress, the way I decorate my home and eat. Your simple and minimalistic approach to life is wonderful and it really helped me find happiness and appreciate the small things. I love your videos. 🌸
1:30 i cannot stress how using natural single cotton ingredient tampons and pads have CHANGED my cycle! before i had all symptoms of terrible pms after i switched to organic cotton only i have a regular manageable period! SO important
Love this video. I’m currently in the process of transferring to non waste period products (have brought menstrual undies and reusable liners) had not considered other product though so found this helpful.
Thanks Meghan once again for a great video. I just purchased a bunch of Natracare pads, I'm very glad you introduced me to the brand. I wish you could have left an affliate link or something, so that I could support you in your recommending this product to me! I know it's no extra cost to me but I'm sure it would help you. Just a thought for the future :)
Great video! I find the topic super interesting. I use the Diva cup + washable organic cotton pads but sometimes (like when I am on the road) it is delicate to wash the pads and find a hidden place to dry theme so the non-reusable organic pads you talk about might be a great alternative for me when I travel. To be honest I was hesitant because it is still a disposable product and I am working on reducing my waste but I think disposable products can have their time and place, especially if those products are "greener" than the classic ones.
Thank when I get my menstrual its horrible I vomit get cramps bloating lower back pain......I get depressed it'd just a long list of symptoms and I always see blood clots is that even normal
Meg, could you make a video with nutrition recommendations for women with endometriosis? We're many, and as an inflammatory chronic disease it is, I'm sure there must be lot to do from the diet to help. Thanks for your videos xxx
I eat very healthily but something was still making me feel tired. So I eliminated coffee from my diet and it completely changed my PMS, no more headaches prior to the period. I love coffee and it was a difficult decision, but I replaced with Matcha (made with green tea) and I am happy with that. Now I left the coffee for ocasional experiences during the weekend.
Not sure about increasing yoghurt intake. I have definitely noticed less hormone-based physical and mental issues after decreasing my cow dairy intake. If I could recommend ANYTHING to other women from my own experience, it's to just try limiting it for a couple of months and see what difference it makes for your body and mind. (Of course be mindful of what you replace it with, because dairy also offers lots of importent nutrience.)
Dairy can be an issue for many people, I agree! I personally eat coconut yogurt (non-dairy), although I didn't specifically talk about it in this video (briefly showed it). Other kinds of fermented foods are great also!
I cut out dairy for a while because I was experimenting with veganism. I'm way done with that and am now following more of a paleo diet, but I have added in Siggi skyr yogurt, eating one every day for the past few weeks, and I noticed that it causes wheezing within minutes! so unfortunate! im going to try goat yogurt & kefir, hopefully that won't cause the same issues...
Yes, dairy is a hormone laden food. It is made to grow bovine, not to support humans. Even organic dairy has an overabundance of hormones in it. The only "safe" dairy is from heirloom cows, but those are few and far between. There are smarter ways to get probiotics.
@@meghanlivingstone Do you happen to know whether plant-based yoghurt and regular yoghurt have the same effects in terms of probiotics? Would be really interested to know!
@@AyselGwynith Depends on the brand, how the yogurt was fermented, how many live cultures are present, etc. Sometimes probiotics are simply added to the mixture at the end. Non-dairy yogurts still provide the friendly bacteria though and are a good option! Best to read labels to see how much is present in the product (and if other not-so-good ingredients are being used). But there are of course tons of other ways to get probiotics in the diet (from other fermented food sources, supplementation, etc.) xo
Hi Meghan, I just found your channel and I'm so happy! I feel like you are a person to talk to, that doesn't judge so... I need to take several meds for my disease (pulmonary hypertension), and two are particularly disturbing. One is a diuretic, which I hate, but I have learned my way around it. The other one in the anti-coagulation pill. I know I have to take it, but it led me to a series of problems: really heavy menstruation, that can last for three MONTHS, low iron, low folic acid, the impossibility of doing any sports, and so on... I've tried the IUD, but it didn't work out well for me. So what do you advice, for someone who needs to take meds, but also needs to prevent these heavy periods?
I appreciate what u dng n ur video always help a lot specially while watching ds video I was feeling low but ur last few words made me strong n positive.🙏🙏🙏
Omg i really loved that you specified "if you're someone who menstruates", because this also includes people who may have body dysphoria and really struggle with the whole "only women menstruate" Image. (Not that i do, but i want to speak up incase) Perfect for pride Month, thank you!
love this video!❤️ just one thing: talking about breast health, is it true that soy is bad for it? I don’t eat much dairy products and i find soy a great alternative, am I wrong?
Hello Meghan, thank you for this video. I would really, really appreciate a video, on how to "simplify" your diet, after a long disease. I've been taking cortisone for a very long period of time and gained super much weight, which I cannot lose somehow anymore. I'm super overwhelmed on all the information out there. Also this calorie tracking etc... drives me crazy - I think there are many people out there who would really much appreciate a overall healthy lifestyle and simple steps to get back in shape. Thank you so much for your videos.
This information is really important to have pls make more content like this. Loving it with your gentle voice , and easy explanation and ofcourse new subbie here👍
Hi Kerry, as a pharmacist with thesis about probiotics I can assure you that yougrt doesn't contain enough probiotics that could help you. It's better to look for ones in capsules ;)

Hello Meghan! Is it true that our iron needs lower after menopause? I had to take iron supplements due to very heavy periods, but now that I’m menopaused is it still needed? Thanks for another warm and informative video. Cheers from Montreal!
Hey Meghan, thank you for the tips. What do you think about reusable cotton pads? I know they are better for the environment, but are they better for our health also
I used naturacare brand products for years as well...such a great brand. I have not used any perfumed products for so many years ( for anything) that I have become very sensitive to perfume smells. Now I find it so disturbing that I can tell when my friends have their period because I can smell the perfume from the pads they are using. Organic Basics is a good brand for breathable organic cotton underwear. Or a US brand that has good organic cotton underwear and is affordable is the brand PACT.
I'm glad you mentioned the cotton tampons. I have 2 different brands if 100% organic cotton tampons that I haven't tried yet. I was going to do some research before I use them. But with your information about them, I don't have to now. Thank you. 👍
Hi Meghan, can I suggest you something? I know computers and electronic devices haven't to stay by gentle parts of the body because of electromagnetic waves. I've seen in the video that you were keeping the PC on your legs,so I've wanted to say it. A kind smile to you!!!☺
Thank you for this video! Isn't potassium also crucial for the menstrual cycle? Also: What about encouriging the body to build more estrogene? Can you recommend food for that, too? (As - what I learned - too low can promote osteoporosis)
Soy is known to have phyto(plant) estrogen like compounds. In small doses. Try organic , as conventional has Roundup, a yucky pesticide. Talk to your doctor re: amount of soy to consume
