Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu Demonstration by Kondo Katsuyuki Honbucho and his students during the 2017 40th all Japan Aikido Kobudo Demonstration at the Nippon Budokan.
-- Official presentation by the Kobudo association --
The Daito Ryu was openly taught for the first time at the end of the 19th century by Takeda Sokaku, however, the origin of this art dates back much further, probably about 900 years, originating with Minamoto Yoshimitsu. One of the key points in Daitoryu and the principle of "Aiki" is to render the opponents attack powerless in an instant and to win without fighting.
The leader of this organization is Kondo Katsuyuki, one of the few high-ranking students of Takeda Tokimune, Takeda Sokaku's successor and third son.
The Daito Ryu is famous for being one of the main base of Morihei Ueshiba's Aikido.

These girls are executing the techniques very weakly

They just apply enough force to deal with the even weaker attacks of the guys!! :-)
Just kidding!! After all, its a demo. I guess, against an average attacker, they could pull of something to get out of the victim-role.

Just like the males are "men" and not "boys", these females are "women" and not "girls".

    Nobody will ever:
    - Lunge forward only to grab one or both of your wrists
    - Attack directly from the front while keeping their arm raised
    Great form though.

You attempt to stab someone with a knife. He grabs your wrist to stop the attack. Same situation. Don't be so engrossed with the whole "this never happens" excuses.
You've never fought in battlefield conditions.

You obviously don't understand that this is a practise form without knives and swords. They even show the same thing with knives and swordes !!. When you attack someone with a knive YOU WILL GRAB HIM BY THE WRIST or get cut.

They do when they are trying to keep you from grabbing your sword or deploying any blade. It's meant for weapon retention and counter seizing. They'd hold you down while their second takes your sword to dispatch you and then assassinate the head of the castle. It's the relevant context to the art. It's not for dueling or even the battlefield. It's meant to retain a weapon or prevent them stopping you from deploying yours. The jujutsu is meant to explore the possibilities of countering being seized and restricted. They pin the limbs or try to strangle you. Or both.
