So much time wasted on eating, traveling and finding meeting rooms. This is just absurd. And he didn't even have any social interaction. This can't be called work.
As a software dev - I can totally relate with it to the point that I have been made aware of how much time and though I spend eating and thinking about eating.
I have watched several day in the life videos from different channels. Do you guys have to clock in? How do they know you are working the right amount of hours?
i’m a data analyst and know what you mean when you’re going deep in the code but i can tell people in the comment section are tearing you apart because it doesn’t “seem” like you’re working. but then what are you going to do? film yourself at the computer just coding? I see the value in your videos but maybe give a disclaimer or even a time stamp to show how long you were coding or something because i can see how it could possibly be misleading like you’re not working. Either way great video and great content! keep it up!!!
Exactly, I know many people who work there that are working 50-60 hour weeks and very stressful currently. This guy purposefully just slacking off most of the day to show his cool lifestyle for this video, or his manager just doesn’t care (which is rare in today’s market).
yeah, where is the work you are supposed to do in your day? I see most developers in the youtube who shared his day in the life is going to the workplace to enjoy eating free meals and playing table tennis
If he didnt have to go out for his mroning errand he would be getting in around 7 hours worth of work done which doesnt seem bad at all (9-1, 2-5:30). People really do be thinking he goes to work to eat.
Many people who get the privilege to work at big tech try to capture their time there because they never know when their time is up. Dont blame this dude for saving his memories and sharing it with everyone.
These people get around 150-250K/y, have free food, free transport, nice areas for relaxation, gaming, etc. 2 hrs of real code and after a long working day, they say they are exhausted.... Omg these people are playing a game in easy mode. here in Latam we have 9hr of real code and thanks! for a shit salary.
Also considerably easier to get employed by your company. Hard to get into a top tech company but there are reasons people put themselves through the grind.
ah the lifecycle of a software engineer now. get a cs degree > grind leetcode > get a job at a big tech company > make youtube video of yourself going into an office and eating > quit dev job > become tech 'influencer' > retire

Should prob take this down… bad look for squatting the conference rooms while you leave campus to take care of personal errands. This video is already being circulated to leadership. FYI
Cool vid but the actual workspace looks f*ing depressing. Driving all the way to the office just to sit in a muted empty 2x2 room staring at an empty white wall. The only good thing looks to be the food, but I would be struggling mentaly to do that everyday just to have a morning Musubi or whatever

So making 200K basically for eating and moving around, what a dream! All these vlogs of SV devs prefectly justify the massive layoffs.
