- Today, Ian is in the bay testing out the new PING G730 Irons. The G730's are an update from the G710 series and feature a the new dynamic Hydropearl 2.0 finish, new cavity structure and distance-enhancing loft structure.
With claims to be PING's longest and most forgiving iron to date, could this iron land as the best cavity back of 2024?

I think it's time that ping did a revamped ping eye 2 iron set. Not just a wedge!
I would love that myself
ABSOLUTELY!
I’m still playing the older g700 irons. They are so forgiving and have helped my iron play tremendously.
my main issue with this is that even trying to hit worse, its still uber middle and consistent compared to the player these are made for. I would love to see someone who genuinely hits all over the face, and doesn't always get the head around, or gets it around too much... hit them and see how they did
Would be cool if you guys had a regular 15 handicapper in for testing. Would give the rest of us an idea of how clubs are for the more average golfer. Even if that regular improves over a period of time it would be really great to see.
I really wanted to see you go full speed on a couple shots at the end just for fun.
The second Ping releases an Eye2 remake with modern specs but Eye2 design, I am RUNNING to buy them.
Love the tailored test!
These look fantastic!
Been waiting for the i530 video from yall for months, haha.
I tested these and the G430 irons. I'm a senior, slower swing speed guy. I usually hit my irons straight but distance is an issue. I'm going back to test the G430 irons again with a couple of shaft options. I liked the feel of the G430 irons better and there was no significant distance difference between the two.
Don’t discount the i530. For players distance they are so forgiving
What do yall usually have luck with when fitting high swing speed players (90 mph+ 7 iron) that need/want more forgiveness?
I tried using a set of Maveriks when they came out and the lofts were too jacked I had to go back to traditional lofts, I really lean the handle and was launching them so low I was getting no carry.
Loving the shout out to trackman LPGA averages, these are so much more relevant to the average male club golfer like me. As club golfers we can learn far more from the LPGA and they way the ladies plot their way around the course rather than trying to over power a course which we see on the PGA tour - there is something more appealing about watching swings which rely on rhythm and timing rather than raw power.
As for the G730, great clubs, Ian may be a little disappointed with the carry distance but as someone who swings a 7i at 80-82 mph with a 33 degree i210s a carry in the mid/high 150s with a peak height of around 90 feet is IMO a very true 7i flight although the spin is significantly lower than I would get with my 7i (maybe 800-1000 rpm lower). similarly the 5i numbers look very true to me just with lower spin
Biggest problem for the G730s is Pings i530s which perform the same but look a lot better
Really? I thought the i530 was for a better player. Interesting
Thank you for sharing your insight
I wonder how concrete clad their non compete is, Ian and Mikey would slay it having their own store and own content channel out from under the club champion brand. Mikey and Ian are the real deal but the truth is the rest of cc has very few other quality people.
Let’s see a course vlog where you guys play the irons
how is a cutomer supposed to try the set if club champion stores only have a six iron for fitting
I believe club champion stores are for the very rich that have a disposal income. They want to upgrade to very expensive shafts
That's where they make their profits.
Better player long iron instead of a utility.? Power spec 5 iron?
I completed an iron fitting at my local Club Champion a few weeks ago and the G730 was one of the 7 heads I tried. I have to say it had the most obnoxiously loud sound of any iron I tested. I handed it back to the fitter after only 4 hits with my comment " No Way".
I tried these, but to me the G430s have a better feel
Can you test the cobra 3d printed irons
Coming very soon.
With my driver i swing at around 128 club head constantly with 177 ball speed using the qi10 8 degrees in the tense blue 65 gram shaft. I am wondering with that being said on a center strike around 2200 spin what should my distance look like
177 ball with your spin and ideal launch would put you around 300 carry.
Your smash is at 1.38? That’s pretty low
@@donkee9 my thoughts as well
@@soccerstud2009 maybe the head or shaft is damaged? 128CH should be like 185 ball speed and that’s at 1.44 smash which isn’t crazy
@@donkee9 for sure that’s inline with where I would expect the ball speed to be, inconsistent strike could play a part I suppose.
I don't know how a slower swinger is going to stop those on a green short of going to the retro spec
the height/decent angle will stop the ball for slower swing speed
Any cobra limit3d content coming?
The G730’s sound truly terrible indoors. Interested to test them outside and see if they’re a little less offensive to the ears.
They are truly different outside! Using a softer (AVX) premium ball I simply didn’t notice. It felt so much better than the G430 irons fitted with last year. They are more forgiving, softer feel, and longer than the G430. I am a senior golfer with a 85 MPH driver speed, and these irons I believe will help me enjoy the game this season. Expensive and I consider them a value for the cost.
Hope this helps!
Juiced lofts with PW at 40degress. 9 iron 36* is redonkulous. Irons for the guy who wants to tell his friends he can hit a 9iron 150 yards. Their U wedge is 45*. Thats a strong Pitching Wedge. Not long ago 45* was a 9 iron.
It shouldn’t hurt your feelings. Be content with the yardage you get (I play PW at 49) it goes 15 more than my next club and 13 less than the next one up. Bear in mind though, that testing continually discovers on channels like these, that the tech in modern iron heads means the launch is significantly higher so the loft needs to be reduced to manage gapping and spin differentials.
PING i530 review please!
+1
Agreed 100%
We recorded the i530 video also this week. AMAZING iron.
@@ianfrasergolf awesome! Can't wait. Love the channel.
@@ianfrasergolf Ian , I am honoured and delighted to have received a reply from you. I really love what you do for golf and I am one of your biggest fans. I hang on your every word, no pressure then . Thank you for your service, Sir. Regards

willyouguys be getting a set of the 3d printed cobra irons
Yes, we have a set coming for testing.
Maybe imagining it but feels like Ping bring out new irons every 3 months.
First, what a day
First one, let’s go
They sound TERRIBLE 😢😢😢
That's a super game improvement iron for you. Try the cobra t-rail or Stealth HD or halo irons they all sound pretty clicky.
Yea and stop yaking so much
