Great result! Hope for new record and overall win in next year!
Have just compared this side-by-side with Romain's run. Rhys was faster for the first ~1:30, then began to lose time, being some 14 seconds behind Romain by the 7 minute mark (!) and then picked up 8 seconds in the final ~2 minutes, finishing 6 seconds behind. Great last section, but definitely need to improve something for those mid sections! Anyway, great work, look forward to 2017!
That's a surprisingly positive interview, especially since there were big mistakes. Last year he was really negative even though he won.
It's as if he received some interview coaching. :)
Thank you for that! It's been really hard to get any info - let alone footage - of this year's race on the other side of the pond.
If you could show us some of the bike action, it would be great.
Had the same problem in Australia, internet doesn't show any live coverage- apparently there is no internet coverage on the Peak- so we all have to wait for replays
nice run! keep at the moto!
it sounds awesome
Where can i see the complete results of the race ?

+AnTalexx Thanks a lot
+Edgar ruu Thanks a lot
what is these brakes??
What was his time?
8.57.118 , 2nd place
I haven't seen the official time posted but he beat his EV record from last year by "11 seconds" so I'm guessing it has to be around 8:56.
god.. those brakes
Yeah! What's up with that? Are they using ordinary steel disks? (Don't know of anything else that squeeks)
That's embarrassing for a racecar.
+avada competition pads are not made from the same compounds as production cars , race cars are not designed to be quiet. Performance is the only factor.
jean luc Dubinator
You don't say... Racecar brakepads worth a damn don't screech, because they're made of carbon.
No, only pads designed to work with carbon discs are made of carbon. "Race" pads can be a variety of different compounds, and Jean-Luc is correct.
arealassassin
I didn't say all disks are carbon, only the most effective ones.
Anyway that sounds like a steel disk screech, which died out of racing use because they're just plain inferior.
I had to watch with the sound off
yea- for all that they can do; electric cars SOUND LIKE SHITE!!
How did a 1600hp electric powered car get beat by a 875hp peugeot with a internal combustion engine?
Because it's not all about power, it's about having a fully optimised sport package including brakes, suspensions, aerodynamic, tyres and engine.
But above all the driver can make a huge difference and in that case you have the Loeb factor to take in account.
Weight mostly but also bad choice of tires. Romain was on track holding every line while Rhys almost drifted off course twice, once the car stopped moving completely due to the tires not allowing the car to take the corner as he liked. With all that and it was only a couple of seconds behind, they'll get there eventually. There is also a point of diminishing returns with horsepower, with electric vehicles it means a lot of weight which for a track with so many bends is not that great.
Charlie Soesbergen......Because Millen isn't Loeb!....Loeb would still beat Millens time if he used a billycart....Haha
Eh Millen isn't bad though i would have expected only 10 seconds less on a full run in the same car, point being he had power on tap and a fair amount of downforce he should have set the car up better
I respect Millen but Loeb is a legend he's amongst the best pilots ever.
Millen is a good pilot.

just like playing Dirt on xbox, except no reset button!
I wish Lewis Hamilton would run this hill in his race car....would be great to see what time an F1 car would post....
probably to delicate for this sort of application
Boomboom awd and accelaration from low speeds means everything in these narrow corners. F1 would be around 9 - 10mins but not recordbreaking...
Mariah Curry,....lol 9-10 mins...hahaha....are you serious? it's not about power, it's about the driver. Sebastian owns the Pikes Peak record because he's 9 times better a driver than both Dumas/Millen, hence why Seb's a 9 times back to back world WRC champion, and why both Millen and Dumas failed to even come close to Sebastien Loeb's time, even still, with them both using lighter more powerful cars, hence why I said I'd love to see Lewis do Pikes Peak, as I feel, no one on this planet comes close to Lewis Hamilton when it comes to high speed diving/cornering, especially in a F1 car and the downforce the car generates makes perfect for Pikes Peak ....so I'd predict Lewis would blitz the record, maybe in the low 7s with his W06 hybrid, or even high 6s? but still, would be cool to watch him try tho.....
Boomboom lewis is a good driver at gp f1 tracks but not the grand prix. He may be on the same level as Rhys since he is not a bad driver as well and competed every year in the unlimited class the last couple of years. Its really not that of a difficult track. I think its more about the car in the end and since f1 cars have bad cornering speeds in that narrow corners at pikes peak and also not the best accelaration from basically 0 to 200 I think the mercedes from lewis would struggle alot at pikes peak... Its just a too long and big vehicle with RWD which isnt optimal for that track, no matter how good the driver is. Under 7minutes is impossible for a f1 car even with some robot as a driver lol...
not grand prix, I meant "Hill climb" in the first sentence.
Better brakes more front downforce and better conditions for the tires and the Peugeot record will fall!
Yo man...you need brake pads!
Oil the breaks. Squeezing.
uuhh dude. extreme oversteering
just smoke some more weed and give us more of your opinions...
***** its youtube . whats your problem dude?
Wow, do YOU want to try that drive? That takes total balls so I'd hold off on criticizing anyone that has the cajones to even try that.
At 10 minutes, he says the track temps were higher than expected so the rear tires were too soft, creating oversteer.
*****
Frankly he would have done a lot better with carbon wheels and carbon brakes - the tires kept launching off of the road with inadequate spring pressure to overcome the heavy momentum of hitting those bumps.
I was terrified for him on some of those upper slopes as the vehicle continually lost traction.
